T-Mobile software update - not Kit Kat - T-Mobile LG G2

Didn't see this posted so I thought I'd share. I bricked my phone and used the LG Mobile Launcher upgrade recovery. The software it installed ended in g, not c. Don't know what it fixes, but zoom breathing is still present while recording a video.

Any ideas whats different?

Can you extract the modem please?

x2. ^...oops the modem looks the same.

May look the same, but could be different. We need to check.

is this NOT an OTA update? I just did an update check and it says I'm up to date... 80110c

Ive tried twice now to update and it keeps failing. Im stock unrooted. It downloads and gets to 70% then jumps to 100%, phone restarts and on the phone gets to 4%. Then the computer says it cant continue the upgrade and to restart the phone.

How do I do that? I'm no longer rooted after unbricking my phone. ioroot says to root only with shipping rom.

Not on OTA. I used the LG Mobile Launcher to get the update after bricking my phone.

I followed the instructions in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471370&highlight=unbrick and it worked for me. I was stock rooted before bricking my phone.

If I knew how, I totally would do it. I'm good at following directions, but figuring out how to extract the rom is beyond me.

Still havent rooted Howie? If you get to rooting let me know so you can extract modem.

Not yet. Do you think ioroot will work? That's how I rooted on d80110c. Is there another root method that will work with any stock rom since ioroot says it's only for the shipping rom? I'll try later tonight as I don't have 45 minutes right now to go through the upgrade process should I brick my phone again.

Hey, curious, I finally got it to work, under apps, what is d80110c's camera version number?

yeah, I don't think they did anything to the camera. It still has that annoying breathing issue with the focus. They might have fixed the Knock Knock issues some people were having with the screen not coming on consistently. I haven't noticed that I have had to double tap multiple times for the screen to come on so far.

The brightness slider is different. If auto is checked you cant move the slider any more.

How long?
How long did the process take? Mine seems to get stuck at downloading software everytime. I don't get a status bar at all.

The actual update took about 10 minutes on a slow computer. Downloading the 1.75GB file took forever.

Hmm ok. I never get a status indicator at that point. It looks like it fails... No percentage and the timer stops. Sound familiar?

You will need the stock recovery for the Ota to work.
I got that too. The update wasn't supposed to fix much. I remember for the Nexus One, developers used to repackage the updates as flashable zips, and I'm surprised that nobody did that.
Ok that makes sense, I have done some searching and can not find where to get the stock recovery, do you know a thread that has one posted? Thanks
What exactly does it fix ? Or where can i find a log or more info on it ??

The 2nd link is the stock recovery.
The OTA update will also fail to install if /system/build.prop has been modified. If so, just restore the original and try again.

Some have reported they got the update after going back to stock recovery and performing a factory reset of the device.

Yes sir, tried that as well... now with the stock recovery is looks as though its going to install the update (when booting into recovery) but then a exclamation point appears with the device in the background. When i jump back to the option that are listed in the stock recovery it tells me that it was unable to mount the SD card and every option that i select just reboots the device.
I would just try to install a stock debloated ROM from the dev section, they'll be updated to the newest firmware anyway plus you'll get rid of all the boat.

VRLHE modem (CWM zip): link removed, my hosting is nonexistent. Luckily http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-of...zon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/
I grabbed the update.zip from my phone and applied only the modem patch, then used dd to extract the modem. Since I didn't get this from a full Odin there's no Odin version.
Speaking of update.zip,
VRALG7 to VRALHE OTA update.zip: http://www.multiupload.nl/S7PHZONUGG
for dev/curiosity purposes. Obviously its original filename was update.zip.
I have the HD ROM that I flashed via ODIN and when I try to install the HE zip, it gives me an error saying its looking for version G7 (which was the last OTA). Anyway I could easily go from HD to HE? I know a lot of other people on here are also using HD.

Actually, I'm wondering if there's a real difference between HD and HE.
The support docs on the Verizon site that lists the new features in HE, such as zooming in the email app, which will expand or condense you email list, is actually working in HD. The build date is a month different, so makes me wonder if HD could of been the tester version, and HE is the release version.
im more of the mindset of it is not jelly bean i dont care ill test the modem out but i probably wont use the rom

Download this file, extract the two files from there and flash the tar file in ODIN (you will lose root and revert to stock firmware but everything will be working and you won't lose your data).
Link Here
After doing that, do not reroot yet. Download the first OTA, let it finish. Then there will be a second OTA bringing you to VRALHE version. After that, root via this method: Link Here and install CWM again from ROM Manager.
I did that same process coming from a Deodexed VRALHD build yesterday.
thanks, it is killing me. the update is silent so you don't even know that it's doing it until it reboots while i'm listening to music.

Does anyone know how to block it? I bought my used S3 rooted and have done a lot of customization that I don't want to lose. The OP is talking about an update for the SM-T230NU. There was an update in March for your tablet model; it's build number XXU0AOC1 and it has only been released in and around Turkey. If you want, here is a link to the Odin file of the updated build, but just so you're clear, it's still KitKat (4.4.2 I believe).
Just found out there's an update for Italy too but I can't get my hands on that file...yet

Sorry apparently my info is outdated. Just checking, the tablet you're talking about is the SM-T230, and not the SM-T230NU, correct?
And you're right, I misspoke in my last post. What I should've said is that the only firmware Odin file I am able to find is for the Turkey region, usually I can find other regions more or less right away.
No it is the nu.

That's where the confusion is coming from. Even though T230 and T230NU custom roms are interchangeable, when it comes to the Samsung official updates you have to stick with your specific model number. The 2015 updates for 230 and 230NU were released at different dates because of this. A more immediate example for you: I have the T530NU and I cannot use the lollipop update released two days ago, even though it is for the T530.
A simpler way to put it: the T530NU, T330NU, and T230NU are North American models, while the T530, T330, and T230 are European models. As such they are updated separately.

[GUIDE] How to get Official stable Pie Update EARLY!

The pie update for our beloved Mi A1 was released one day after the beta version did. Currently the places where we can get the OTA update are : Netherlands and also Austria (As far as i know) if you are in one of these countries try to update it without making any of these steps !
Note : This isn't the beta update is the official OTA Pie update !
Steps:
1. Remove your SIM card
2. Go to settings and clear : Google App, Google Framework, Google Play Services, Location Service
3. Reboot
4. Open vpn with country Netherlands/ Austria (VPN doesn't matter as long as its a VPN)
5. Go to update and check it
PS. If it doesn't work try it 2 or 3 times the procedure
Any Question anything feel free to write a comment below ! Enjoy pie !

True! It happened to me, lost LTE because of this. Please be extra careful when doing this or if you don't mind then go ahead, haven't face any other issue so far, it feels faster.

Try setting the VPN to USA, that worked for me, just keep in mind the possibility of losing LTE
focus of gcam doesn't working ?
It worked fine here. And it didn't mess the LTE/4G. Everything is going well

Same there, LTE works.
A reminder that while this may work, it's a bad idea:

Does someone know when will be able to flash Pie via MiFlash?
Worked for me after many fails
The trick was also to clear Google app data and then disable it

So official pie is coming out for everyone via OTA in the next few days?

Is this a fastboot or miflash zip?
Updated using the VPN method, used Windscribe VPN, everything works great, first bootup was longer. LTE works (Czech Republic)
