Allshare like app for Nexus S?

I just sold my Vibrant and bought a Nexus S and was wondering if there was another app like Allshare that I could use to stream movies from my PC to my phone.
I really like Allshare cause whenever my wife insisted on watching f'ing Jersey Shore I could allways bust out my phone and choose a movie from my library without have to get off the couch to upload it to my phone.

I'm not sure if we have the DLNA capabilities...I'll look around and see.

Swifta would work great if it would play different types of video files.

So we do have DLNA? I searched around and I couldn't find a definite answer.
Damn I was going to buy the nexus s but I use allshare all the time. Especially when family comes over. I stream the photos and hd home videos to my tv.
Do you think if I took the vibrant version and used it on the nexus it would work?
Dlna needed of course.

Twonky works for me, I stream to my ps3 and the nexus s does have dlna.

iMediaShare brings DLNA capabilities on any Android phone including Nexus S. In addition it also enable playback of online videos as well as sharing personal photos from Facebook and Picasa.
Hmmm.
I tried searching for imediashare (and scanning the QR codes that are on their website) but it's not showing up in my Market....must be a protected app or something.
Oh well.
Damn it. Maybe I could get the imedia apk found some where.

I was able to find Twonky though.

I read on another thread that the Allshare app on the Vibrant is tied into its framework and would have to be modified to work.

Try again. It should be there now
Last post is December, so did you guys find a way or did everyone settle with Twonky, Skifta and iMediaShare?
You can stream video with Gmote.
Although the dlna works fine I really wanted the AllShare app to control the TV, anyone know how to get it on the Nexus S or at least why can't we?!
Is there an OS version issue, cause I have downloaded like 3 AllShare apk but none works.
I`m currently using the 2.3.4 version.
Thanks in advance,

5.1 audio over HDMI?

So far I've only been able to get 2.1 audio over HDMI using a variety of apps playing mkv files with AC3 or DTS. Has anyone been able to output 5.1 audio? I'm trying to figure out whether the problem is a tablet limitation, the apps I'm using, or my admittedly ancient receiver.
Apps tried:
BS Player Free
Dice
MX Player

Surely someone out there has taken note of whether 5.1 audio is being output from the TF700. In fact, I'm hoping it's my receiver's fault that I'm not getting it. Gives me another reason to upgrade. :silly:
I was not aware the 700 could do that???
I'll see if I can find a cable for it and hook it up to the ol' 3311ci tonight.
How can you tell which one it is using? I'll test when I get hone with my setup

On my receiver I have a display that shows what speakers are in use, as well as whether it's using PCM, Dolby Digital, or DTS. YMMV
Bump to see if anyone has tested this yet.

I have not yet. Did you enable libffmpeg for Dice player?

It's not a tablet limitation

Hi !
I've seen a test review on the net that was stating that they used an mkv with AC3 and it was working ... check your decoder, I know it is working
Thanks for that. I should finally have time to test with libffmpeg on Dice tonight.

Still not working even with the Dice plugin. My receiver is over 10 years old and is getting audio from an optical split on a Monoprice HDMI switch, and does support Dolby Digital and DTS, but will only play 2 channel PCM from the tablet.
Can anyone else try to confirm first hand that 5.1 works? I'd really like to know if it's the tab or my ancient receiver.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T
Yes it does
It even outputs 7.1 with Spotify premium on my Onkyo TX-NR808.
I've not tried for movies but I guess it should not be an issue.
I haven't gotten this to work either. I use Handbrake to convert my video. Did anyone get this to work?

Google Chromecast or nexus player?

Looking to get one or the other but unsure if i want to pay the $40 difference. What I would be using it for would be too stream movies from Google play, vudu, netflix ,hulu and movies I have obtained that are stored on my nexus 6 Watch youtube and stream apps. I would want to connect it directly to my surround sound system HDMI port. So it the nexus played worth the extra $40.
