I cant seem to get Emoji's to show up on google's keyboard like they used to prior to my update to 4.4.2
Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks! The phone is stock no changes whatsoever ..

where are you using the keyboard? when in hangouts the enter key will instead be a smiley face key for the emoji. but i think else where there will be an enter key with three little dots beneath it. long press it and the emoji will come up.
Oh DUH! It works only in hangouts! Thanks for your help!!!!

This is a weird one... the HTC IME keyboard cant be selected using SE's new android keyboard. Its almost like a lock unless ive completely missed the point.
Any help would be great.

I cant find it, i installed it and then went into the setting an found language and keyboard settings and its not there, nor is it there in the menu that u get after long hold on the writing window in messages and google talk etc...

EDIT: Got it working now with the High Resolution version!
has anyone else had a problem, when using htc ime mod for 1.6
sometimes it will cause the phone to freeze, the vibrate for 3-5 seconds. Then it resumes typing the letters you typed seconds ago. Is my phone just screwy, or is it a bug in .27 of the HTC IME mod

It happened to me quite often back in 1.6 and it happens now too.
It's a bug of the keyboard.

lolz i was having the same problem as the OP! just figured it out thanks to this thread. i hate the stock 2.1 keyboard!

I have a MyTouch 4G which is running Android 2.2.1 I'm not terribly techno-savvy, so it isn't rooted, there's nothing on it you can't find in the Android Market.
The problem I'm having is that when I get a text, for instance (this is just one example, it's not just a texting problem) when I pull up the keyboard and try to type, whether it's tapping a letter or using swype, nothing appears in the text box. The screen is obviously fine because I can navigate to, and open the messaging program and even tap the window where my response will show bringing up the keyboard. It's only after this point for 20-30 seconds or so, whatever I type doesn't populate the "Type to compose" box. The text prediction will even bring up a suggested word, but if I tap on it, nothing happens. It's not a lag, the words don't all appear suddenly 20 seconds later.
This was only one example, it happens any time I need to type. The Google search box, the search box in contacts, a note in DropBox....anything.
Has anyone else had this same issue? Or, do you have any ideas as to what I might try to get this problem taken care of?

i had the same Problem on my galaxy s when i still had android 2.1
After the Update to Froyo the problem disapeared
Maybe you should root your phone and install a different kernel and rom?
I am quit sure that this would fix your problem

I'm pretty unskilled with things like rooting my phone. Apart from that, the root procedure on the MT4G is a complicated one, at least the ones I've seen.

i've got fat thumbs and i keep pressing return on the keyboard which in the ICS Messaging app send the text message, this is rather annoying when you've only typed half of the message.
Does anyone know if you can disable this? or if there is anyway i can modify the App to stop this happening?
i would rather not use a different app just because i like the stock app.

Different keyboard perhaps?
worked a treat, i was using the ICS keyboard from the market and not the ICS keyboard that came with the AOSP mod.. swapped over and the return button disappears when you're in the Messaging app..

Sorta a noob, however hoping that vets here will be able to assist...
I have not seen the microphone icon on my keyboard, which I used to dictate text messages while driving etc...
I did recently update to 2.3.6, however the mic icon was missing prior to updating...at least I think so.
Anyone know if there is somehting I can do to get it back and if so how?

Go into settings->Language and input->click the settings for the keyboard you're using, then there should be a box "Voice input key" put it either on main keyboard or symbols.. good luck and hope I helped

I've ran into this issue and wanted to see what other M8 users are having the same issue. I've tested this on several devices and it only seems to be happening on my daily driver my HTC one M8.

For anyone that can not watch the video what happens is that when exiting hangouts with the keyboard displayed by pressing the Home key the keyboard stays on screen.

I've had this happen to me every once in awhile and not just in hangouts. I can however press the back arrow key and it minimizes the keyboard and closes it out.
I have this happen I my Moto X as well

I'm aware pressing the back key is a work around, however it's just that a "work a round" I've reported the issue to Google.

I noticed this right away after updating to 4.4.3. Another bug I have noticed with homescreen is after using the phone app, it has popped back open a few times after going to homescreen.

Hey I just seen this an you r not the only one...there are many post of people saying the exact same thing. Glad you reported this. On this device
Android L Google Keyboard does not present this problem on bone stock with the OTA.
Since my last hangout update I can not get this to do it..is it still doing for anyone? Just wondering

I'm using the android L keyboard from the play store before google took it down. It use to do it but not anymore..must be only with sense keyboard still. Smh

Myself I love it. I can't go back it blows sense keyboard out of the water an I got a apk I pulled from my phone that has been updated before it was pulled. I can share it if you want to try it.
Was happening to me with Hangouts too. Keyboard always remained after exiting hangouts, doesn't happen with any other messengers.
