Advice on reliable dual core Mali GPU with Ethernet - Android Stick & Console Computers General

As stated in the title, I need an android box with a an RJ45 Ethernet jack.
I prefer to get one with the Mali GPU, at least 1G ram/8G rom. I would also like to have Miracast and Bluetooth.
Several boxes seem to fit the bill, but all the Amazon reviews mention these boxes dying within months!
I would rather have fewer features and reliability if there is a trade off.
So... Who out there can suggest a box that is reliable?
Thanks!

Herotab C8 Information & Development

So I got one of the variations of this rather generic Chinese tablet and am very interested to get development on it going. Some folks over at Slatedroid (currently down for upgrades) started messing around with this tablet.
So far we have root via the normal su/superuser.apk method. There seems to be no NAND lock of any kind or no bootloader mischief going on, Either. The CPU is the same used in the Galaxy S and Tab from what I understand.
Some brave soul (username Asure on Slatedroid) also found an older kernel source for it, as well as source for some of the drivers. We've seen a couple of firmware updates going so far in the last two months or so.
These are the general tech specs for this device, and its similarly named and equipped friends (Dropad A8, Haipad M7, etc):
Dimensions: 196.5*125*14.5mm
Weight: 0.510g
LCD: Capacitive Multi-touch 2-point 7" @ 800x480
CPU: Samsung S5PV210 (ARM v7 Cortex A8) @ 1.0GHz
RAM: 512MB DDR2 RAM
Wifi: 802.11 b/g/n support
NAND: 2/4GB NAND Flash (On most models, some have no NAND or as little as 256MB)
Camera: Front Camera, 1.3MP
Battery: Dual 2250mAh batteries (also seems to change per device 'brand')
Others: USB2.0 support both normal and host mode, HDMI 1.3 output
Runs a rather generic Froyo on it. Ask me for any more info, I hope we can get more support for this going. I'd probably be willing to donate a bit to get interested (and experienced) developers going.
Is there a different thread going on about this device? Search didn't show anything.
Haven't found anything similar in XDA about it or the variants.
I'm thinking of getting it, too. Was hoping I can find more support for this device in here. Gingerbread, plausible?
This device is pretty good, but no xda support yet.
This device is basically a Galaxy Tab Wifi 4GB, as the hardware is the same.
I did a CM7 port for it. See SD for more details, XDA topic is dead
Can't believe there are no more people on XDA who have a Dropad / Haipad / Herotab. Good hardware en cheap! I hope there is a dev who can make a custom recovery for this tablet, that would make it next to perfect!
better buy a branded tablet
That herotab c8 is my second tablet that I bought it from aliexpress, yeah i know it is a lousy place but the price was much cheaper than merimobiles.
I sold back the first cheap tablet which is bloody slow and specs are very low which is under $100.
The second tablet that i bought was C8/herotab/whatever they call it. (yeah I made a mistake twice.)
Before I bought this, I read a bunch of reviews by c8 owners on youtube, including some videos posted on merimobiles. And I convinced myself that 1GHz cpu powered tablet would be great. yeah I was partially right.
Running applications + watching videos are simply awesome. avi, mkv, 1080 play flawlessly, I watch only 720p because of the file size, so watching movie on it was awesome.
cons
Unresponsive compare to Galaxy tab(i think you are going to talk about the price tag)
Compare to the crowd working on branded phone/tablet, Very few people are working on the customised rom.
And bloody heavy, yeah as a tablet half a Kg is pretty heavy.
What else.
I even planned to sell it back but now my daughter plays angry bird, watches nursery rhymes videos on it. So I leave it with her.
The worst thing is no developers at xda are interested to work on it
yes. very good machine. I just know it is generic one with many other name like Haipad M7, Dropad a8, Apad 7009. all of them have an issue in common:
either skype or fring does work on them. I am keen to know if someone has video call working on it. thanks for your input
i managed to initiate a qik videocall via wifi but it took me many calls to get a connection that didnt broke after a vew seconds.
i have installed asure's cm7 beta 0.4 + launcher pro plus with honeycomb theme and layout. works great in everyday use. after deleting the unnecessary phone related apk's the battery lasts for at least a whole at heavy use and up to 2.5 days with much standby time. im loving it. it's not perfect but it's more than you'd expect from such a lowprice device.
Hey if you want ROMS and firmware updates for this device, I think this is THE page you need

General questions about G Tablet and other device

I am looking to purchase a G Tablet to use for work to capture signatures on a pdf etc... However I was also looking at the http://www.amazon.com/Superpad-Tabl...XDEQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1300477511&sr=8-2
as I could use this as a way to program Cisco routers in the field plus do some testing on the network.
So I guess my question is which one is better.
Of course I know both will need some new ROM's and some other software added to them and whatnot. But The second one seems to me that its a bit nicer that it has a RJ45 connection on it. The reviews are pretty good for the G Tablet though. So I am not sure what to do. If it is possible to add a USB to RJ45 dongle for the G Tablet I am for sure down for that too.
So I guess what I am hoping for is that someone here has had both or knows enough about both that they can give me some input as to what would be my better choice.
Thanks,
Nathan

Be wary when you are dealing with a product that has an unnamed producer and the specs don't even tell you what kind of processor it has. Usually, these devices were pumped out super cheap in a factory in china somewhere for them to make a quick buck or two.
The other thing is we have no idea what kind of users those reviewers for the superpad are. They could be dumbasses for all we know. With the gtab, at least we know real devs have been working with it and have given it their approval.
Go with the gtab, dude.

I couldn't have said it better....
thats what i was thinking... but the thing about the superpad i like is the fact of the built in RJ45 connection to be able to telnet in to cisco switches in the field.
edit:
just found this... seems like if this generic tablet has a micro usb to rj45 connection theres gotta be a way to get it to work

I just went through those reviews at the link you gave us. Sure, there's lots of 4-5 stars. But the reviews are not helpful at all. Single phrase reviews are useless when we're dealing with something like this.
I'd rather spend $350 on something I know that works and have lots of dev support.
I'm sorry, but I'm not very trusting of these so-called companies in China. I've known too many people who got scammed by them. Here's the thing. If something happens, what are you going to do? They're sitting all the way in China. How are you going to get them to honor their warranty or send you replacement?
Processor Type: ZT-180 not support android honeycomb 3.0. If it isn't important, a variant under the reference above the best.
But even in this case I would pay attention on archos 101
Slatedroid has an entire section devoted to the Superpad/Flytouch 2 .
Alot of information and reviews by people who actually own and use the tablet.
There is also a Small Business Section on their with a shop named BuyADroid. They carry the tablet and have supplied alot of members their with tablets, very reliable and shipping times aren't too bad either.
But if you want info on the superpad, slatedroid is the place to start looking.

New Android Mini PC!! 3G options, up to 128Gb of storage, bluetooth. etc

A new technology startup, Stella Mira, is entering the compact computing arena with their new device, the Pocket Console. Like many other flash drive sized mini computers we have seen lately, the Pocket Console features an Arm Allwinner A10 chip clocked at 1.5GHz, along with 1GB of Ram and Wi-Fi built on board. It also includes Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, like the FXI Cotton Candy. And 8GB of flash storage, which is double that of the popular MK802 mini computer. Best of all it's priced at $129, which although being priced higher than the MK802, is still significantly cheaper than the Cotton Candy. The device also features 3 full sized USB 2.0 ports, 1 mini USB port, and a microSD card slot. And, of course, an HDMI port, enabling it to connect to practically any screen around. As far as software goes, the device runs Mira's customized version of android four dot zero, which is said to include a variety of popular apps preloaded such as spotify and angry birds along with support for the most popular game pads, and emulators are built right into it. Stella Mira has also announced that they will begin accepting pre orders in September for a 3G capable version of the Pocket Console. You can also buy a dock like accessory for your Pocket Console, unsurprisingly called the Pocket Dock which comes pre loaded with your favorite Linux distro (granted it can run on the Pocket Console). Stella Mira's website claims that they have built customized versions of both Lubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 12.04 that run "beautifully". Not much information is given of what these customized versions entail so that remains to be seen in the near future. I have reached out to Stella Mira and am awaiting more information on the Pocket Console and Pocket Dock. Until I hear back, the Pocket Console seems to be a really great contender in the mini pc market and for $129 I really don't think you could regret giving it a try, I know I certainly will.
Couple of corrections, it's not a 1.5 ghz a10 cpu it is actually a 1 ghz single core a8 cpu and mali 400 gpu. It is the board that is called an a10 as in allwinner a10.
The 1.5 ghz comes from people adding the gpu and cpu frequencies together. If you see the ebay page you will see this is how they arrive at that clock speed but it isn't actually that speed.
The 3G version is to be nearly $200 and even at $129 for basic four gig version with no extras this will be dearer than the next mk802 yet have the same specs.
Unless it sells for as good or better price than the next mk will do, the mira pc won't do as well not least because it only ships to usa and is dearer than similar spec products.
It isn't really offering anything new other than bluetooth (which new mk will apparently have) and the dock.
It is a nice design but as, when it begins shipping (and even then only to some who order early because others have to wait) there will be equally specced devices cheaper, it will need more than it has to create a lot of orders.
It certainly needs to be available in europe and start a little lower in price and to make more advertising advantage of its heatsink feature (if its promo pics are accurate it may have one).

Your link doesn't show anything other than 3G modems. How does that pertain to the op's hdmi pc post?

As an observation, The MK802 already does have bluetooth possibility. just not in the stock firmware. I am running lubuntu on mine, and bluetooth works just fine. And as others have already stated, all the allwinner a10 devices are really only 1.0ghz not 1.5. I don't see anything with this new device worth spending almost double the $68 my MK802 cost me.

[Q] Android mini pc

Hi, Can any one tell me
1. What is the difference between a "mini pc" an "android stick" ,a "tv box" ex' ?
2. What is the difference between Mk802III and Mk809II or it is the same gadget ?
3. What is the most powerful android mini pc that I can buy today (20 february 2013) ?
4. Is there a device like the above with four core cpu that has more speed, and can multitask better ?
I new to the forum so be patient with me please.
Thank you
the android stick usually has the form factor or a usb memory, just a bit larger and heavier.it has just one or two usb ports and an mini hdmi video output. minipc and tv box are usually more complex and include card reader, more usb ports and depend on design, more video out interfaces.
i never seen a android stick with a quad core cpu, usually they has cheap one core 1ghz cpu.
what is the best you can buy? well, hard to tell, usually i got some on ebay from china and very rarely i see the same object on sale more than once. pay attention when you buy one because they try to fake and say 1.5ghz cpu, while in the end it has a 1ghz cpu and 0.5ghz gpu

[Q] looking for an android TV device

im looking for a new android TV device to replace my wii i use now for streaming media (netflix, hulu, etc).. i want something that can run any android app, easily install third party applications, has enough performance to emulate N64 and PS1 games with the ability to stream PC and high level emulators from my gaming PC.. my router has gigabit LAN and N750 dual band
so my budget is about $75, within this budget i have been able to find the google nexus player using a quad core 64 bit 1.8ghz atom, 1 gig ram, and powervr 6 gpu, no ethernet, and 802.11AC wifi.. ive had issues with some android apps not working all that well on x86 architecture so im not sure if the atom will cause issues with some third party apps, and id like a device thats rooted/unlocked without breaking the warranty (ive had bad luck with low quality ASUS products, multiple ASUS devices failing)
another device i found is various "M8" devices which all seem to have the same specs, a cortex A9 quad core 2ghz processor, 8-core mali 450 GPU, 2 gigs of RAM, though seemingly only ABGN wifi and 10/100 ethernet.. so the downsides on this is the graphics arent as good, network isnt as good, but it does have more RAM and these devices seem to already support third party apps and being rooted
which of these options would be best for what i need it to do?.. and are there any other options i should consider?
You can try to find some solutions on Amazon or eBay, there are always so many good products on it. Besides, I know one brand named Loctek, you can search for that and maybe helpful.

well, if i want some emulator capabilities and game streaming, im probably going to want something capable of opengl ES 3, mali 450 no matter how many cores is only ES 2.0
browsing around on amazon a bit to see what i could find.. i found a few devices, all with 1.8ghz cortex A17 processors, 2 gigs of RAM, and mali T768 GPUs.. and they seem to also have gigabit LAN (since my box will be less than 3 feet from, or maybe even underneath my router, this is more important than fast wifi
so... nexus player with a 1.8ghz quad core 64 bit atom processor, 1 gig of RAM, powerVR 6 GPU, no ethernet
or... off-brand player with 1.7ghz quad core 32 bit cortex A17 CPU, 2 gigs of RAM, and mali T764 GPU and gigabit ethernet

anyone have an opinion on these options?
i guess no one has any experience with these products?
Im in the same boat.. But in Canada.
Check fasttech.com also
See the pcduino or raspberry pi 2 also..
Im holding out for a minix x8h
