[Q] Rooting Rock Chip RK3066 - General Questions and Answers

I'm an idiot, I started a thread asking on hot to root a TravelTek m9703. After a little research I found that its a Rock Chip Dual Core Rk3066 Cortex-A9 1.6GHz chipset.
so now my question, which method would be the best for rooting this device? I know bricking is always a possibility, but is there a way i could save the factory firmware and restore to that FW in case something happens and I do brick it?
Running Android 4.2.2 Baseband version WM218 Kernal 3.0.36+ [email protected]#320

Doh!
I was just confused looking for "TravelTek M9703" and getting zero results. I then looked at the spec description from where i bought it
http://www.sears.com/traveltek-9.7-inch-led-google-android-4.2.2/p-SPM7198457209
I found it was running a Rock Chip RK3066 chipset
After I UTFSE I found this which had a nice batch file and it worked fine.

How To Root + Enable ADB On Versus/CnM Touchpad 10.1DC (and other generic tablets)

Wasn't sure where to post this, so figured here was the safest option - just change it if it needs it!
I posted this guide for rooting the stated tablet recently and somebody suggested I post it on XDA so here it is. It works to root the Versus 10.1DC tablet, which was later rebranded to the CnM Touchpad 10.1DC, and also enables the use of ADB on this tablet. It's highly likely that this will also work for the other Versus/CnM Touchpads (and probably just generic tablets in general), but there are other options available for rooting those tablets so it's not as important.
Anyway, for the complete guide just check out my original post: http://blog.zackehh.com/how-to-enable-adb-and-root-cnm-touchpad-10-1dc/
Rockchip - CnM TouchPad 10.1DC
Hi, I have got this tablet Rockchip - CnM TouchPad 10.1DC. It has this Dual-Core 1.6 CPU ARM Cortex A9
and it seems to have Quad-GPU, but I can't find the name of this chip (Quad Core Mali-400 Graphics Processor maybe?)
Anyway. I have been using it for 1 week now. And it is on Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and it is kind of slow. Google Chrome is unusable on it.
Takes ages to load, keyboard pops up slowly, and it freezes when browsing from time to time. the same issue in Adobe Reader, it is way
to slow and freezes too.
My questions are:
1) Can I install Jelly Bean 4.2 on this device? (no official 4.2 from the maker)
2) Is there anything that can make this tablet faster?
Thanks.
Juris.

1). There are some unofficial CyanogenMod ports, there's probably a 4.2 version out there now.
2). Just removing all the bloat made mine fairly smooth

I'll try find out for you, I can't seem to find them anymore. If they've been taken down for some reason, I may compile my own.

[Q] ip330tv rom above android 2.3

Hi to everyone first post here so i hope this is the right session anyway:
i've bought this mentioned trevi ip 330tv:
it's supposed to be an arm cortex a9 with 512mb of ram, i'm trying to understand if this is just a rebrand of some chinese/international model in order to find a newer rom (currently it's running android 2.3).
i've linked what the datasheet trevi produce on its site hoping someone may be able to recognize it from the picture.
ps: yes data sheet say it's a cortex a8 but it's wrong probably they planned to release it with a8 and then they move to a9 without update the manuals.
any other kind of advice on this kind of device it's welcome, i'm aware that a lot of this device share same hardware so i hope that someone can point me to a good rom even if not really intended for this specific device.
thank you in advance

Looking for correct firmware for A31s TV box

Hello,
I have a Quad Core Android TV box that uses Boxchip A31s 1.2GHz CPU and running Android 4.2.2 (model: Softwinner, Firmware: v1.2)
The unit is giving problems mainly with the Google Play connection and the Google Play Services errors. I tried many things but after many hours I reached a point where I think it is best if I either find the original firmware or an compatible upgrade to flash it and start from scratch.
I did a Google search but was not able to find the firmware. I hope someone here can point me to a download link for this unit.
Thank you for your assistance!

E&L S60 - Alps - Arm64-V8a - Root & ROM Help

Hello all,
I am interested in rooting and installing a custom ROM on the Chinesium phone I bought the other day and I am having a hard time getting started.
(Can't post a link to the phone but a Google search of E&L S60 should get you there)
Rooting seems to be specific to the model of the phone and processor type, and I am seeing nothing that coincides with my model number.
CPU: Arm64 - V8A
Model: S60 (full_kxd6753_65_s60)
Manufacturer: Alps
OS: Nougat (7.0)
Does anyone know how to go about figuring out
1st - How to Root this thing
2nd- What ROM to install
Do I just look for other phones with known Rooting techniques that closely match my hardware? I'm not adverse to bricking it, but I also don't want to just see what happens by trying something that has a high probability of bricking my phone either!
Any and all guidance and/or suggestions would be welcome!
Screw that guy! lol!
Well.. I soft bricked it. YAY!
I used the ROM for a Umi Iron Pro with the exact same specs... and BRICK.
Any pearls of wisdom?
Please?
Craig

Update my phablet BQ Elcano2 (MT8393)

Hi everyone! This is my first post so..first of all I apologize for my grammar, I'm Spanish.
A few days ago I found at home a BQ phablet model Elcano 2 Quadcore. After charging and turning on the device I realized that it currently runs android 4.2.2. I managed to root my device so that I could update it to a more current version of android. The problem comes when I can't find any TWRP recovery or support on Lineage OS.
I have read that you can use the recovery of another device with the same specifications as mine but I have not found anything on the internet either.
Hope you can help me update my phablet. I don't need the latest version of android, by making my device useful I'm satisfied.
I downloaded the Aida64 application to know what processor I have:
MediaTek MT8389
4x ARM Cortex-A7 @ 1508MHz
1Gb Ram
32Gb ROM
7inch
Thanks dudes

Try searching Astalavista like pages, neither that or a paragrim might be useful. : )
