The one gotten is Galaxy Ace S5830L. I've even already read, learned and installed CM7.2 on it.
However I noticed something. It seems that whenever I install application updates for my installed applications the ram is consumed, until the point that all ram is used and doesn't allow me to download more updates, nor install more applications. Moving some applications to SD just leads to the same result: the ram is eventually saturated again.
I'd have posted this on the corresponding model sub-forum, but it seems to happen to some other smartphones in general, even without root nor CM, nor any other modifications, as a friend showed me. What he did was uninstalling all apps, leave those really useful and avoiding updates at all, but I don't think that as a solution.
What can I do regarding this?
On a second small question, I recently saw Clean File Manager, which allows to also browse phone's internal memory, for the case I installed a game and wanted to backup the savegames. But if I wanted to write on the internal memory, would this app allow me, or would I need to root?
Thanks beforehand.

Refering to this post Apps to SD, I have some doubts.
1. Is this similar to the 2GB inaccessible partition on Nexus S ?
2. Is that partition ext3 ?
3. Do apps get installed directly on that and I don't have to install apps on sd as explained in that post ever ?
4. If no, will creating partition and installing apps on it slow down the phone ?
I installed lots of apps from market yesterday so thinking of these things as I have read that installing many apps may slow down the phone.
please clarify my doubts
Have you gone to Settings, Applications and checked how much of your internal memory you're actually using? There's a little bar graph at the bottom of the first screen.
I've got over 130 apps installed and still have almost 600mb free. For most users, on the NS, app storage space isn't going to be a concern. We've got 1gb internal for that.
Also, many apps can be pushed to your sdcard without any hacks required.
The old school apps2sd involves repartioning your sdcard, formatting part of it ext4, then creating symlinks to move apps to the sdcard.
Seems like a lot of work unless you're really short of space already.
All partitions on the internal storage space are ext4 or yaffs2...no ext3 on the NS stock,
Thanks. So I shouldnt be really about that
But will installing many apps slow down my phone ? How do I stop some apps from starting automatically in the background ?

I wouldn't worry about it until it becomes a problem, if you know what I mean. If you install a lot of BIG game applications that don't let you move to sdcard from the Applications manager, you might start to run out of room, but I've only seen one person in this forum state that he was filling cramped, and he has 300+ apps, including large games if I recall correctly.
Having a bunch of apps installed should not slow down your phone just because they're installed.
If a bunch of them are active in the background either intentionally or not, that might cause some slow down, but it's just not a real problem on Android 2.2+ in my experience.
Android's memory intentionally loads apps up in advance so they're ready and waiting when you want to use them. They usually just sit there using zero cpu until you give them something to do. It is best to avoid TASK KILLERS, they will screw you up more than help you in general.
If you really feel the need to stop certain apps from being loaded automatically at the phone's discretion, there's an app called AutoStarts in the Market that lets you block apps from loading automatically. There are other apps like that one. They require you to be rooted to use them.
I'm seriously fed up with uninstalling apps/updates when I want to install something else, and I will always have to clear cache, clear data of my Facebook or even to the point contacts, when I need to install a new app/an update.
Is there a fix to this yet?
P.S.: I did use the search button, but couldnt find what Im looking for.
it's my problem too ( . please help me . The Internal memory is very low !
Yeah sadly, android isn't doing anything to fix that. T.T
Actually, "Android" can fix that if you're able to root your ChaCha and partition your SD, "faking" a bigger internal memory.
HTC isn't doing anything to fix that, because this is a hardware problem that can't be totally solved using only software updates. They also don't want to open the bootloader so anyone can root and modify the partitions, that's why this is a big problem to this phone.
HTC ChaCha was destined to teenagers that don't want to use any app other than Facebook. That's the truth.
A Possible Solution
I recently got a ChaCha (AT&T Status) mainly because it has such a nice keyboard and I don't like virtual keyboards. It was also a bargain. I don't do Twitter, and I rarely go to Facebook. So these (and other) AT&T supplied apps are just wasting memory space on my phone. I was frequently running into the memory limitation problems (inability to update apps, inability to synch, etc.). But since ATT disallows removal of these apps, we're stuck. Or are we?
If you look at the applications manager under downloads tab, you'll see the updates to facebook, twitter, and other pre-installed apps are huge. While the apps themselves cannot be uninstalled, the updates can be, which is what I have done. First, I went to the market and un-checked the automatic update box so they won't be updated again. Then I uninstalled the updates for Facebook and Twitter on my phone. I also unstalled the updates for the ATT Code Scanner app. Although I might find a code scanner useful, I reasoned there are other code scanner apps out there (probably better ones judging from the typical AT&T Software ) and the other apps could be transfered to the SD card, using very little internal memory.
Anyway, the result is I now have about 39-40MB of free memory . I still can't wait for the gurus here to come up with a permanent solution, but in the meantime, I think I have solved my memory issue.
Hmm running 2.3.5 here and since that I have around 40mb free.
I am using FB, twitter and a bunch of other apps. Trying to clear cache for a lot of apps weekly though.
Check the Everything for ChaCha thread (also in my signature).

All great suggestions. Unfortunately, most of them require a rooted phone which means I can't use them.
Only one which can help you in this case is a factory reset.
yea..i having the same problem too although had upgrade to android 2.3.5..is there other way to solve this pity fewer of memory?
I am the kind of person who likes to get into an operating system to see what it can really do and have recently rooted my P5110 - I went for the tablet first because I didnt want to "learn" on my more vital device, my S3. After few false starts I got it rooted. However coming across so many things I don't understand, and therefore don't want to touch yet, that I want to find an easy way to learn more about the OS and how it can be tweaked. I realise there is a lot of information here, but mostly you have to know what you are looking for and so a few videos or step by step guides about how and what you can do would be really useful I feel. I also find that that the rooting world seems to have more than a few myths about it- for example one thing I wanted to get around is the crazy and annoying restriction of no longer being able to install apps on, and move apps to, an external SD card. I am finding that although people are saying you can only do this if you are rooted, now that I am rooted I still cant, despite having downloaed apps that claim to do it. They will move to SD but not to extSD which is pretty pointless on the tab because from what I can see apps already go to the internal SD storage. Some people tell me its a Google thing and some say its Samsung.
a Friend is trying to download and install BBM from the Play Store, but it won't download at all. Keeps saying something about not enough space on the disk.
He has like 400MB free space on the device and the BBM app is only 22MB(Make it 25MB max) so there should be enough space, yet it doesn't download at all.
His device is stock 100%, not rooted. I'm not familiar with Samsung devices that much(Galaxy S3 was the last one I had and that's been a while back already). I did some searching on google and saw mentions of a hidden menu *#9900# . Will this work on the Galaxy S4 Zoom? Worst case scenario, let's say it doesn't work, is there another method we can resolve this issue without rooting or making other changes to system?
Deleting an excessive amount of apps is not a total solution as a lot of the apps is for both personal and business related purposes. I already made a similar suggestion and he won't be able to go without many of the apps, I managed to only free up like 100MB after getting rid of the things he didn't need.
I only have access to the device for maybe 10mins, max.
Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.
No one?
I used the *#9900# code and it did work, I freed up some more space on the phone, albeit it was only a couple of MBs. It didn't make a difference, couldn't download the BBM app still. I then proceeded to downgrade(uninstall update) Google Play to a previous version and at least this time around the app downloaded but after downloading it attempts to install it and then stops stating that there are no storage available.
Is there no solution to this problem? I went through every app he has(Even though he really doesn't have a lot of apps on the phone) one by one and can't seem to move a single app to SD Card.
The guy is close to painting a wall "Galaxy K" colored.
Hello, I'm new to the forum and I would like to start by thanking anyone that will take the time to read this.
So I've had an xperia E3 d2203 with Android 4.4.4 (factory default) for nearly 2 years now, and I'm quite happy with it, except that given the numerous updates that have been stacking on top af each other, the internal memory is now full and i can't seem to find a way to make it better.
I have no pictures, audio or videos on the internal memory, installed a small numbers of apps on the SD card, and disabled all pre-installed apps I don't use and uninstalled their respective updates.
However, I keep getting a notification the the internal memory is more than 85% full, and I can't figure out a way to free any more memory.
So, is there anything else I could try? I really don't want to give in to planned obsolescence and buy a new phone I can't afford.
I have taken a look in installing a new Android ROM. If this is necessary, which ROM should I install? It seems to me AOSP would be the lightest, since every other ROMs are built off this with more stuff added, but I might be wrong.
Thanks for your input !
