Are there any android phones which have real hardware seek controls? I listen to a lot of mixes and it's really useful to be able to seek through music without having to use the touch screen.
Alternatively, is there a way of making the volume controls do this? The problem is, long pressing already skips tracks, so it would have to be some other combination.
Alternatively, are there any bluetooth headsets which do this? I bought a bluetooth headset but it just skips tracks.

Please forgive me if this has been answered before, my searches have not resulted in the answer I seek.
I'm seeking to create a remote control for changing tracks while using my Galaxy S2 in the car, so that I don't have to pick up the phone and take my eyes off the road to skip songs.
On my S2 and Note 10.1, the Samsung headphones have three controls: play/pause, volume up and volume down. There's no discrete button(s) for track control (NEXT / PREV) but I see that such controls do exist.
This is what I've found for track control:
wisebread.com/build-a-cable-to-control-your-android-phone-while-you-drive
but I've found no similar schematics for volume control.
In testing, it seems my Samsung remote uses 50, 200 and 440 Ohms for play, V+ and V-. I'm guessing then that this is the standard for inputs, and how it's handled is device specific.
My question is: do headset controls for Samsung devices exist that have buttons for track control, or do they all require double/triple-tapping the play/pause button? Or am I correct in assuming it's one or the other, using the same resistance on the buttons, with the actual function being device dependent?
tl;dr - Are there headphone remotes with volume control AND track control?

Thanks Rah, that is helpful. It doesn't answer the question, but gives me an alternative solution to the problem. =)
And yeah, I love PowerAmp. I didn't know it had this feature, though I've been using it for a couple of years. Thanks!
I have searched long and hard for this but cannot come up with simple solution. I have a motorola boom bluetooth headset. It has just one button on it, coupled with two volume buttons. ALL I want to do is be able to replicate the exact functionality that my wired headset has where it pauses/resumes the most recent audio stream when i hit the play button.
What is the best way of doing this?
Thanks.
Weird problem. Usually the Next/Previous buttons on the headset can let you move tracks backward/forward when you're playing music or listening to podcast/audio books. Some apps allow you to reassign them becoming fast forward/backward. The new Nexus 5 I just receive, the headset buttons can only do volume up/down, no matter which app I'm using. I don't see anything in system settings.
Anyone has same issue?
I found the same thing. Android support of headphones and accessories is terrible. There's no universal standard for three-button remotes and so far i've only found some Samsung earphones that can even do volume up/down. The rest only do play/pause.

The same headset functions normally on my Nexus 7 and HTH Inspire 4G. Is it possible LG doesn't support headset remote control?
The situation is:
I working all day sitting, so i like listen music, but i can't copy music to my assigned pc, so my phone is my music.
Is there any android app that can "hear" my keboard media buttons to control the phone?, like bt headset buttons, but i don't want use a headset, y want to controll reproduction directly from keyboard. thanks.
hey guys I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. Here's the scenario I'm trying to set up:
a bluetooth mouse is connected to my phone. Hey video or music is playing on my phone, which is lying on the table and connected to a pair of speakers.
I'd like to know use a Bluetooth mouse and have the scroll wheel fast forward and rewind and another button on a mouse to play and pause the media.
Of course this is possible on a computer with all the key remapping software and media player software with hotkey support.
I haven't been able to find a way to do this in Android
Anyone know if my scenario is possible to set up?
