Hello I recently bought this phone from geekbuying. The phone works perfectly, everything up to the smallest detail! Just the GPS.. It tried to search for a GPS and can't find one at all.. Google Maps finds a location around 2 miles away from me and that is the closest it gets to "GPS"
I have tried several things such as all the GPS fix things like GPS doctor and all that stuff.. I am just wondering if there is anything left I can do, I mean I can't change the ROM cause there is no CMR for this phone. It is currently rooted, I have also tried re-setting the whole phone and formatting it. And tried out GPS on safemode.
I have tried the A-EPS and the EPO download. But alas, nothing.
Thank you for your help if you can!
Hello,
recentrly i got my hands on an galaxy s4 that has been smasched to a wall. The accelerometer and gyroscope have been damaged and interfere a lot with phones behavour.Phones run 5.0.1 and has root privilages.I also have root explorer.I assume that disabling completely these features can be done by deleting some system files.
Also i have tryied everything else, calibrations, updates etc and i am 100% sure that these sensors are damaged(also selftests dont pass)
Can you please tell what i must do in order to completely disable these two sensosrs from the device so that it can get in good working condition again.
Thanks.
Hey guyz..I have a teletalk x112..I really need your help..My phone was facing certain problems so i did a factory reset..Now after that my wifi doesnt work good..i mean after certain time i have to turn it off and on again to work....Also if (by miracle) some time if it works fine i think about 99% of the download from play store or even browser triggers it to make my wifi non functional and i have to toggle on/off to work....PLEASE HELP ME GUYZ.......THANX
Last days I started to setup my new Nvidia Shield K1. I like to use tis for flying a DJI Mavic Pro and rely on functioning sensors. I also have installed AndroSensor and GPS Status. If I start one of this Apps the ACC sensor is working for a seconds and then the signals are completely freezing. After this I only get it back to work after and complete reboot of the Tablet. Also the Gyro and the Mag sensor does not look to be working at all. I have never seen any data on this. AndroSensor is waiting for an event for this two sensors and GPS Status shows some initial movement on the level sensor but never any reaction on the compass. Sometimes I even seen the orientation is not working anymore and the screen will not adjust anymore. In most of the cases the orientation is still working even with the frozen sensor output in the two Apps. Im using this two apps with a few of my other Android devices without having issues. My actual version is Android 6.0.1 with Shield software 1.5(24.3.70.8). I already have done a complete factory reset but after this the problem is the same. Any feedback is appreciated. I may need to RMA the device.
I got an replacement K1 yesterday and set it up again. With stock Android version all sensors are working fine for a day. Than i made the OTA update to latest (same as above). Now ACC and Gyro is still working but not the MAG. The problem looks to be at least partial related to the firmware. Mag sensor problems are reported also in the past for the K1 already. Also MAG calibration will not make any change. Androsensor is reporting "waiting for event" and GPS Status shows and wrong compass direction (was fine with the initial firmware before OTA). Not sure what can be done here. I was expecting when i invest in an tablet of an reputable vendor (which is also not very cheap) i get something working well. Now i either have a second bad tablet or there is still something wrong with the firmware. It would be good if someone with the latest OTA update can confirm this behavior or can confirm that everything is working as expected. Many thanks.
Here is some more information for the case: _https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/986542/shield-tablet/sensors-gyro-acc-mag-work-in-an-erratic-way-on-my-new-k1-shield/?offset=7
So I noticed in GSAM monitor and BBS that the grip/proximity sensor runs for about 10h everyday and is the highest android process.
I've seen online that I'm not the only one facing these issues, yet there has been no solution to be found. Any one else having these issues?
Hi, yeah I'm having the same problem. The weird is, the proximity sensor is only active if you are not connected to any wifi and have mobile internet activated. I already tried to find the process that is responsible for this, but ended at some Samsung Service and don't know who is calling that. I still hope that they fix that bug...

WHat samsung service exactly? screenshot?? I can do my best to fix this. I didnt know about the wifi. maybe its modem related. what device, rom, kernel are you running?
com.samsung.android.gesture.MotionRecognitionSAR
Just connect your phone, use adb shell and run "dumpsys sensorservice". Then you see that this service/or whatever is constantly using the proximity sensor. Tried to debug it, but don't have that much knowledge on decompiling android apk/odex files.
Galaxy S8+, Official Rom from April, kernel:
Linux localhost 4.4.13-11168760 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Apr 26 08:44:35 KST 2017 aarch64
Would be cool if you find something, already deactivated a lot of applications, but could not find the app that is causing that problem.
You can try the following, disable wifi and connect your phone to your pc, use adb shell and enter "logcat | grep -i sensor". Then deactivate the display of your phone and you can still see in the logs that the proximity sensor is recognizing movements.
I also deactivated every setting that I can find that may use the proximity sensor.

Ill see what I can I can find, thanks for your findings!
Im getting about 10h sensor usage throughout the day.
Edit: Any idea if we can calibrate the proximity sensor?
I think you can do that via the samsung "service menu", but I don't think that this solves our problems.
Same. My grip sensor was on for hours and hours for each charge. Sometimes switch with proximity sensor. Tried Google searching, but then gave up. Uninstalled gsam and BBS and stopped looking at it. Ignorance is bliss i guess lol

Im out tonight so cant test, but if anyone wants to give it a shot in the mean time,
Any updates on this? I have this issue with my s8+ when I'm not on wifi
Samsung galaxy S8 proximity sensor bug constantly active
proximity sensor should act for calls, in order to lock the touchscreen from being accidentally pressed by ur head / body, but indeed the Samsung S8 and the S7, seems to have a bug!
you can simply test it by pointing any camera towards the proximity sensor of the Samsung S8 or S7 and just wait,. (our eyes unable to see infrared /IR but cameras does)

proximity sensor keeps flashing
I've tested more Samsung galaxy S8 they're all got proximity sensor errors (soon as sim is inserted),.
when
*unlocking the screen
*phone screen off
*browsing
there is currently no way to disable it in the setting,. so you'll must root you device & install XPOSED to disable sensors
*rooting can brik & damage your devices, doing so is your own responsibility
Isn't it the smart alert in advance features? That thing constantly see the sensors if the phone is moving or not. Then it will alert the user on notification if the phone starts to move.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this?
The issue remains on the latest Nougat update - when wifi is not connected, TMD4906 sensor time is on roughly 30%-50% seeming to cause fairly large battery drain.
Attempted a factory reset but this did not improve the situation.
Having the same issue with sensor malfunction when on mobile data. Galaxy S7
Cannot post links yet. Here is testing I performed and posted in one of the S7 reddit threads:
When I turn the wifi off and have mobile data on I can see the same strange activity of proximity sensor (looking on the sensor through other camera). When I receive and send mobile traffic proximity sensor keeps working. Also, when I launch Spotify and turn the display off/lock the device proximity sensor keeps working CONSTANTLY (b/c Spotify is still using mobile traffic).
When I turn wifi on and try to reproduce by going through the same steps I see no sensor activity.
I would assume though that some process identifies mobile data as a phone call.
So, the better your mobile phone signal 3G/LTE coverage is the less time proximity sensor will be used as request/response cycle goes faster meaning better battery life =)

Hello!
I'm suffering the same problem in a S7 Edge, anyone found a solution?
Unfortunatelly, unless you are rooted, there's nothing you can do.

My phone is rooted. Few days ago tryed with xposed + disable sensors module, but I have the feeling that what you gain by not using the sensor is the same that you lost by blocking them, in terms of battery drain.
May be it's time to say "Good bye" to Samsung.
Mine for sure. My old xperia Z2 was a better performer on a battery than this crap. To make matters worse, Samsung did nothing to solve the problem and its persistent since s7 for many updates. This is absolutely very unprofessional of them.
