kitkat 4.4.2 from 4.4 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I just updated to kitkat 4.4.2 from 4.4 on my n5. Ve never flashed an update before using a custom recovery, following the update I opted to clear tha dalvik cache or something, presume that was correct option? Anyway, all seems to have worked ok, however, when it booted back into droid, it still shows the notification top left screen that there is an update available. I checked my version and its defo 4.4.2 (KOT49H) now, so why I still got this notification?….
thanks

[Q] How to upgrade after factory reset

My TF300T had started to get seriously slow, so I eventually decided to try a factory reset. This went OK, but the OS has dropped back to 4.2.1, When I run the system update check, it tells me that my system is up to date.
How do I get back to a 4.4 installation?

However you went to 4.4 in the first place....
4.2.1 is the latest from Asus..... If you unlocked then you can't get official updates like that anyway so you must have flashed a custom rom if you were on 4.4.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm losing the plot here. What I had prior to doing the reset was definitely not 4.2. However, I had never done any custom flashing to upgrade.
I bought the Asus from Curry's about ten months ago and the OS looked pretty much the same as my Nexus 4. Since doing the reset though, things are definitely not the same. The Home, Back and Running Apps icons are all shifted to the left side of the screen and I have no Google Now when I swipe up from the bottom.
Maybe I should stop worryig about it, root the Asus and install 4.4 as per th instructions.
Just to make things clear: Android 4.2.1 is the latest from Asus. And it's not clear if they ever ship 4.4 officially...

4.4.3 for the GSIII?

saw this today; I took the last OTA and am only on 4.4.2; so color me confused...
http://www.androidorigin.com/verizon-samsung-galaxy-s3-mini-kitkat-update-android-4-4-3/
I woke up with a OTA notification for 4.4.2 and I was unable to install it.
I suspect it has to do with the fact that I am rooted and I am also on the I535VRUCNC1 baseband, and had flashed clockwork recovery after updating to NC1. This essentially bricked the phone (wouldn't boot with a message about software unauthorized by Verizon being installed), but I flashed the stock recovery back and afterward it was functional. I believe the flash to clockwork though set the flash counter and maybe that's why my update is failing. It gets about 30-50% and then says Error, and reboots.

Can't update to Lollipop!

Hey guys, so I really need your help with this.
When I bought my phone it was on Kitkat 4.4.4, after a month, I got the Lollipop 5.0 update via OTA, updated and all ok, then after a while I got the 5.0.1 update, which had this major bug of memory leaking that kept draining battery like crazy.. So I kept searching on how to downgrade to Kitkat 4.4.4 and I followed all those steps to install Kitkat using fastboot/adb tools.. And it worked, I've been running Kitkat now for a week and it's amazing, no memory leak bug, no battery draining.
And just by curiosity, I tried to check the updates, but it says that my system is up to date.. I mean, it doesn't give me the Lollipop 5.0 update nor the 5.0.1.. What's up with that?
Does that mean that I can't update to Lollipop via OTA again? I just need some clarification about this if it is possible Screenshot has other information such as build number, kernel, etc..
PS: I have the CMW custom recovery installed, maybe that's what's stopping the OTA update?
Thanks guys ^^
The update isn't available to everyone all the time...it goes in batches..
Anyway you will eventually get the notification, but you wont be able to install it as you're modified. Anyway, no worries - you know how to do it manually now.

[Q] Rollback to Kitkat 4.4.4 from Lollipop?

I've updated my Note Edge (italian, 100% stock) to Lollipop few days ago, but i really don't like it, i think it's the worst android version i ever used (i hate, a lot, how the lockscreen works now).
Is there any safe (and maybe easy) way to reinstall Kitkat 4.4.4?
i've found this guide searching with Google:
http://androidsigma.com/how-to-downgrade-samsung-note-edge-from-android-lollipop-to-kitkat/
is it ok?
thanks in advance

I did it just the way the guide says, download your official Rom for you phone from sammobile, then use odin, its pretty straight forward, if you get into a bootloop, just wipe cache and it should boot.

ok, thanks for the reply.
you did the downgrade starting from an original Lollipop rom?
because my phone is non-rooted and 100% stock now, with the Lollipop rom that i received via KIES update.

I have the SM-N915T the version from tmobile, but when i bought it from a third party (brand new and unlocked) it did not come with the tmobile rom, it was the one from trinidad and tobago kitkat 4.4.4)
so i downloaded the lollipop Rom for Tmobile, and it worked fine, but i did not like all the bloatware from Tmobile so i decided to go back to kitkat, so i downloaded the kitkat version i had before, downloaded it from sammobile
checked usb debugging in developers settings, then put the phone in download mode, opened odin, click on PDA and selected the kitkat rom i had downloaded from sammobile, everything went fine, after everything completed, remember to wait for the PASS message fro odin, do not disconnect the phone unless it says PASS, after that the phone just boot looped, samsung logo, then samsung logo. So i booted to recovery and cleared cache, after that the phone booted just fine. So basically that is what i did, no problems at all, just make sure you download the Rom for yous specific Edge Model.
i've succesfully downgraded my phone
after the flash with Odin the phone was bootlooping, but with a full wipe (data and cache) everything was ok
now i've disabled automatic firware updates and i'll stick to KK 4.4.4 till Google new updates to Lollipop and the awful head-ups notification system.
thank you very much!

Cool man, glad everything went fine.
Hi,
I am having bootloop issue even after I clear with cache and dalvik from the recovery. I flashed with ODIN(N915GXXU1ANK4_N915GOLB1ANK4_MM1.zip) from Lollipop 5.0.1 as mine is Singapore unit. Anyone care to share their experience on how to recover from this.....

This is how i did from lollipop rollback to kitkat CWM > wipe data/factory reset > wipe cache partition > advance > wipe dalvik cache > turn off phone go to download mode > odin start to flash kitkat (SM-N915G Singapore)
The way I recovered this is factory reset instead of clearing the cache. Now running Kit Kat and very much happier...

Thanks for the suggestion. It worked as I went from Lollipop to Kit Kat. Much happier, especially considering the camera button on the edge panel for both selfie and normal mode. makes life a whole lot easier
I have a Verizon edge but everytime I try to flash back to kitkat with odin, it says it fails. I've tried 2 different files but neither seem to work. Are there any other methods or any other place to get the file from other than sammobile? Lollipop has killed my love for this phone. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Who knows.

If you know the baseband number of the verizon 4.4.4 Stock ROM, my T Mobile one is N915TUVU1ANK3, you can search for it on https://www.androidfilehost.com/
Downloads much faster with none of that stupid gimmicky pricing.
This phone really shines on Kit Kat. if only Samsung put just a little more effort in maintaining the features of Kit Kat on Lollipop. I really do like the face lift of Lollipop but I'll take the ergonomic Kit Kat that takes full advantage of the Edge any day.

Never heard the IMEI thing before. Doesn't even make sense to me. Just download the stock 4.4.4 ROM for sprint via Odin.
Read the above directions In the thread.

Yeah I got the same error message attempting to move from the firmware for SM-N915P (5.1.1.) to SM-N915FY(5.0.1.) though I've seen a few people talk about the fact that you can't go backwards now.

Can't update to 4.4.2

hey there,
I re-activated my old HTC one mini (M7) yesterday. The phone is on Android 4.3.
After installing all the app updates that had accumulated, I wanted to update the system as well (4.4.2. update notification was showing).
However, the update did not work. It restarted like it should but then just booted up normally and was still on 4.3.
I had clockworkmod installed which I used to do a factory reset. Now even after the reset, I can not update even though the notification is showing all the time.
All it does is a standard reboot for some reason.
does anyone know what's going on?
cheers!
