I've tried two sellers on eBay so far and neither has been able to unlock my Koodo Moto G.
Both of them sent me a message along the lines of:
"This is an automated message.
The unlock code for IMEI : 35498005489**** could not be calculated.
I apologize for this inconvenience. Please contact me regarding you options."
or: "Unfortunately I will have to offer you full refund as the server has already rejected your IMEI number."
How is this even possible? I double checked my IMEI via *#606 (something along those lines) and it matches the code shown on the box. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance,
Silencer.
The only suggestion I have is to RMA it and get another.

Do I seriously have to get an RMA over a "faulty" imei code?
Same situation for me. I've a Koodo Moto G that unlockers have been unable to look up a code for.
If you know of anyone that has a successfully unlocked Koodo/Telus Moto G, please point them to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564727
as I was wanting to do some sleuthing to see if I could figure out a unlock method without using a code.
(My old samsung i9000m galaxy S was unlocked in a similar manner)
cheers.

Not really sure what else you can do.
Yes,
mobileincanada.com reports my IMEI as a Moto G. I'm assuming that that means they can get an unlock code for it.
They want $20 for the unlock. Was hoping to be able to do it for less but if there are no other options will go this route.

This is the ebay seller I used for my Telus Moto G: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorola-...89-Motorola-MotoSmart-MotoLuxe-/221326995328?
I tried that seller (mnz....) but he wasn't able to find a code for my IMEI. But there were no issues with getting the purchase amount refunded.
I'd recommend this seller (smgreen):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111223239973?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
His first database lookup was unsuccessful but he had access to a different database and that lookup produced a valid unlock code for me.
Not only can he produce a code for a "difficult" IMEI, but his price is among the cheapest.
So I'd recommend going with smgreen.

Just call tmo. Your code might be wrong one.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I'm not a t-mo customer, and I don't live in the US..
Try to order another code from a reputable seller and check to see if they are the same. If it is the same, you must have either read the IMEI wrong or enter it incorrectly. If it is not the same, you can take your last chance try to unlock it...

I bought mine on eBay from this seller and it worked fine
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=260776518349
It was $10 back in may when I bought mine and it looks like it's only $3.20 now. Like I said mine worked fine. Your mileage may vary.
Get back to the person you bought the code from and have them double check it. If you hard lock the device you will never be unable to unlock it. You have to make sure the IMEI is correct by doing *#06# and enter your unlock code super carefully. How many times did you enter the wrong code? LG gives you ten unlock attempts. Why do you only have 1 attempt left? If you want a code fast I can help you get one for $6.00 (cheaper on eBay). Make very sure the next code you try is correct and enter the numbers very carefully.
There is NO reason you have to buy a unlock code.
Cell providers in the USA HAVE too provide you the unlock code, it's the LAW.
They email it too you within 24 hours.

I'm pretty sure there is no law requiring that in the USA. T-Mobile will do it for active account holders. I think you have to have had your account in good standing for a certain number of consecutive days or something. But I don't think there is any law requiring it.

It is lawful to unlock your phone, but there is no law that I know of that requires a carrier to do so. In many cases they will provide you with the code if your case meets their criteria.
Here is T-Mobile's policy on the matter

Actually I've double checked the code that I gave them, and it still does not unlock.
I tried multiple roms, and this is why I have only 1 attempt left.
Think you can help me with the unlock code ? I can give you the code I've tried, and you can see if you have another one listed.
Edit: I've called t-mobile, and after talking with them for 20 minutes, they said that I can ask a "friend" which has a T-mobile account with prepaid and active for over 60 days, which could ask for the subsidized unlock code for me..
Any volunteers ? (It should "cost" you only a call to them..)

Once again I apologise for not being able to get the correct code for your mobile. Your only option may be your network operator or a local shop who can unlock via a cable.

Don't post your MEID or IMEI publicly, people can do all sorts of nasty things like report your phone stolen with that information.
help me ........
So you got the refund from TheUnlockShack.com?
Since most of them can give money back if they cannot find your code. You can try another unlock website or find on eBay. I got my code from an eBay seller.
Did you make sure you gave the correct IMEI, not MEID?
You can obtain your IMEI number by pressing *#06# on your mobile phone. Try it.
Note: that will only show the IMEI if the phone is in GSM mode. Maybe in Global mode too, but definitely not in CDMA mode.
IMEI is available under Settings, About phone, Status.

SIM unlock AT&T XT1045
eBay vendors are reporting they can't find unlock code for AT&T XT1045. Doe anyone know reliable place for unlock code?
TIA
Sorry, I appreciate this is a really old thread, but I wanted to share my experience of trying to SIM unlock a Moto G 4G locked to Tesco. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone to use TB and AdAway. I tried to get a SIM unlock code from various vendors on eBay but all gave refunds as they couldn't find an unlock code.
I paid £10 to Tesco but they couldn't get a code and said they passed it on to Motorola. I heard nothing so went direct to Motorola Support. They confirmed my IMEI was correct but said they did not have an unlock code, a subsidy code they called it. They were polite but constantly said they had no code. I pressed them and eventually they told me they couldn't help as I had rooted my phone and they couldn't access my SIM unlock code. I said I had applied to unlock the bootloader and asked had my phone told them what I had done to it? Did they not have records of each code for each IMEI? They ignored that and repeated they didn't have a code for me.
Now, call me cynical, but I suggest Motorola are refusing to help or deleted the SIM unlock code when I applied to unlock my bootloader, as to my understanding the two are not linked on the phone and unlocking the bootloader has no effect on the SIM lock. I have passed the matter back to Tesco but am not going to hold my breath.
My advice would be to look at SIM unlocking your Moto G first before anything else, then unlock the bootloader after that.
hey.
just a quick message for anyone else that runs into this issue. i also had problems unlocking my moto g 4g (xt1039) locked to tesco mobile. i had rooted and unlocked bootloader, and was buying unlock codes from various sellers on ebay, but each one said code not found for my imei and they refunded me.
eventually a seller messaged me saying that the regular server had rejected my imei, but that an unlock code could be obtained from 'motorola not found server' for £2.99. so i paid the cash and got the code about 1-2 days later. can't post a link as this is a new account, but seller is mnz technologies.
IMEI 355488060966817 Globe Telecoms Motorola Moto G. Thanks. Can you still unlock it?

That's crazy. All sellers should have to enter the IMEI of the phone they're selling so eBay can confirm it's the same phone they've sold as what the buyer receives, so in cases like this they can see that it's the same phone, which is not unlocked (and it's not blacklisted etc).
Definitely give the seller bad feedback, even if at the very least it warns someone else off buying from this guy

Just give him the negative first. A seller has the option to contact you and ask you to reverse the feedback which you then only do if he reimburses you the cost of the unlock. He has a 99.9 reputation. Every negative hurts. Glad to see you're almost done with the ordeal. Enjoy that phone.

You need to choose the country that your device is locked for and talk with their technical support (that's what they told me to do).

Region lock and sim lock are two different things. It would be unfair to give the seller negative feedback because of region lock. Aren't ALL samsung phones region locked? To bypass this, you must first put in the sim that belongs to that region, then you can use any other sim.

I just got a Moto G from Sears. It is to be used on Consumer Cellular. I have contacted many sources on eBay to get an unlock code but they all seemed to failed in getting that. Does anyone have any info on this?
It's just a normal XT1540 that they rebrand with their own name. The factory rom may have a cc designation in the version# but any features that work on the XT1540 will work on it. You will have to get the unlock code from Motorola to unlock it. Any of the unlocking and rooting threads will work on it.
My old 2nd gen came from Sears and I wish I'd gotten my G3 from there. Their extended warranty is pretty cheap and if you brick it, they'll replace it no questions asked. They did on my 2nd gen anyway.

OK sorry. That's a good question, since you can bring pretty much any compatible AT&T or T-Mobile phone over to Consumer Cellular without unlocking why shouldn't it go the other way. Assuming that it is locked to CC have you contacted your carrier? If they're on the CTIA Consumer Code for Wireless Service list then they are required by law to unlock the phone.

I wonder if they will unlock it if you took out one of their $10 plans. There's no contract or sign up so it would cost at least 10 bucks plus those taxes that get added on.

Yes. I will definitely give it a try. They also have the "30 Day Money Back Guarantee" so I can probably get my money back. Thanks!

I've had them for service going on 4 years and I've always found them good to work with.

No. When inserting my T-Mobile SIM in, it asks for the unlock code. I contacted Consumer Cellular for the unlock code but they did not fulfill my request because I do not have an account with them. But I do have the device paid off in full.

And Sears would not provide an unlock code?
I use Consumer Cellular and now glad I did not buy my Moto from them.

No, Sears sales people wouldn't be any help at all. Even the people that answer the phones are clueless. I found out that's good in a way, they ask no questions when you brick the phone and return it. I found that out twice when I bricked two 2nd gen Motos'. I also think it could be a roll of the dice on what you get from them. The 2nd gen I got from them worked fine with an AT&T Sim in it. All I ever did to it was flash it back to stock from the custom rom I had on it and give it to a friend.
I know this is an old post but, I used this seller and got my code pretty dang quick....http://www.ebay.com/itm/331492872180?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
