My phone is on 4.4.1 and I'm using encryption with stock recovery.
I had a problem with reverting back to stock when I was using 4.4 with TWRP and encryption and had to use this method to revert to stock. I performed a sideload of 4.4.1 while I was at it.
I was able to enter the stock recovery but after encrypting the internal storage again I can't seem to enter the stock recovery. It just boots into the OS.
Any suggestions?
* Update *
I went ahead and wiped the partitions and reinstalled everything from Stock 4.4 then sideloaded the OTA to 4.4.2.
I then turned on encryption. This time I was able to get into the stock recovery. It was either a bug in 4.4.1 or a corrupted stock recovery. At this point everything seems to work fine (even performed a data wipe from recovery to make sure).

I'm really stuck and need some help here, thanks in advance. So basically about a month ago I encrypted my rocket to use on my company's Exchange, but it turns out they don't support Android so that was a waste. At the time I was running Stock ROM ICS (Rogers), before then I had dabbled with Paranoid and a few others. I had CWD 5.5 installed.
Yesterday I was eager to try the new 4.1.2 JB leak, so I flashed it through CWD and all went well.. until it booted. It stops me just as it loads and gives me the message "Enter encryption key to unlock storage". It's been a while so I couldn't remember my PW, so I tried 100x until it said wiping data. I figured maybe it worked the same way as Blackberry, but even still after wiping it wanted the password and now when I enter anything in, it just reboots the phone.
Getting nowhere I went back into CWD, reset to factory default, wiped the caches etc, formatted system/data, and then reinstalled Stock ROM 4.0.(Rogers) using ODIN. That booted OK so I figured I managed to rid of the encryption, so again I installed CWD, and then the leaked 4.1.2 but again it's still giving me the same message!!! Arg! I've wiped all the caches a million times, formatted the system and data, reset factory defaults 10x, I've even tried flashing 4.1.2 Leak using TWRP but still no luck. I'm assuming I'm getting that message because it's still encrypted, so how the heck do I rid of this encryption? I'm thinking I have to re-partition the internal SD? Please help, I'm eager to try the new 4.1.2. Thanks
No amount of wiping /system, /data, or /cache will remove the encryption settings/keys because they are not stored in any of those partitions. They are stored in a partition that is not accessible by 'ordinary means'.
Did you perform the factory reset in CWM or in the stock recovery? I would suggest to use ODIN to flash back to the stock ICS ROM and recovery, boot to the stock recovery, factory reset from there, then reboot and make sure that encryption is no longer enabled in settings in the stock ROM.
If that's all good, then use ODIN to flash CWM and use it to flash a custom ROM.
Some info on Android encryption
Still no luck! arrg!! So I first used ODIN and install the Stock 2.3 Rogers ROM, I went into settings and reset back to factory. I rebooted, and went into the Stock Recovery however Up down arrow's worked but the enter "power button" wasn't working, so it doesn't look like i could choose reset factory from within stock recovery. Anyways, I rebooted into Download mode, used ODIN to install the STOCK 4.04 Rogers ROM, and rebooted. I checked the settings and it looked like encryption was off, or at least it had the option to encrypt. All signs anyways looked like it was off. I then installed TWRP 2.2, upgraded to 2.3, then flashed the leaked 4.1.2. And again when I rebooted, after the ATT logo I'm presented with the "Enter password to use encrypted device storage". I'm guessing it's still encrypted? And why is the stock google leaked 4.1.2 asking for the password but not the Rogers stock 4.04 ROM? Anything else I can try? It's also strange that when I enter the stock recovery mode the power button isn't funtioning as the enter key. Up down enter keys work, also if I press the home button, or maybe it was the back button it reboots. Thanks for the replies, hopefully there's more I can try. Maybe re-partitioning the entire internal SD?
Success... but lost cell unlock.
So after another Stock ICS Rogers ROM install, I went into backup and reset and did a factory reset. There's an option to delete the USB as well, which I may have been skipping... but I checked it off this time, then rebooted into the Recovery mode using TWRP 2.3. This time around I also made a few changes. I used the 4.1.2 debloat, but there's an option in TWRP to format the Android Secur... which I did... just because I wanted to nuke everything. So now yaahh!!! 4.1.2 boots up and no more encryption issues. Bad news, my phone is no longer unlocked
Idea's on the unlock?
NM... looks like using the debloat 4.1.2 I forgot to toss in the Radio, because using the regular 4.1.2 I tried again it works good. That'll be the last time I ever touch encryption.
To delete encrypted partitions successfully you need to install the android version which at least supports encryption. For example, if you install android 2.3 and you do a factory reset won't work for the internal sdcard, but probably will if you install android 4.1.2.
I've got a T-Mobile phone with stock updated to the last version, with TWRP 2.6.3.0 and root. Everything worked fine for a couple of months.
A month ago the phone started to boot loop with no apparent reason. I've wiped everything, re installed stock, rooted and used the phone again. I've thought it might be an app updated that screwed something.
Anyway, I've only got the basic apps on the phone and today it happened again. I've read that I need to boot into bootloader and selecr "CLEAR STORAGE", I've tried that but it goes into recovery and there I can only wipe the data. I've did that and rebooted and it didn't help.
Any other ways to fix this without re installing the rom?
I think that if you use the clear storage option, you will have to reinstall the rom. I believe it wipes the system partition as well.
If you want to do this, you should flash the stock recovery (get it here)
Go into the bootloader and select the clear storage option.
Then you can flash CWM or TWRP recovery again and install the ROM.
My Moto G, model XT1032 is stuck in a CM12 bootloop. I can boot into fastboot mode and ClockWorkMod Recovery.
So far I have tried re-flashing the CM12 ROM with no success, I have downloaded the original firmware and tried to flash that but I get a "Preflash Validation Failed" error, my phone won't show up on RSD, and I have tried wiping the phone to it's factory setting.
None of these worked and I am out of ideas. Are there any other options to try?
Thanks.
Did you ever have the GPE ROM on your phone? Does your data partition uses f2fs?
If you are getting the validation error when flashing motoboot.img, that is because your current bootloader is newer than the bootloader you are trying to flash.
Hi, I'm fairly certain I had the GPE ROM on it. It was what it came shipped with, that is all I know. As for the data partition I am unsure of the format of it, how would I go about finding this information?
Thanks.
If it has the GPE ROM, it would not use f2fs for data. Do you have twrp on it? If you do, boot into twrp, advanced wipe, and check partition info.
I do not have twrp, I have ClockWorkMod. How do I check the partition on this?
In CWM, go to wipe & format options, custom format options, toggle f2fs<->ext4 migration. Then wipe data, cache, Dalvik, and reboot.
I don't have those options on my CWM, All I have is Reboot, Install Zip, Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition, Backup and Restore, Mounts and storage and advanced. I am using version 6.0.4.6 of CWM.
Install the latest version of Philz Touch for your phone.
Okay, I did that and now my device hangs at the Motorola Bootloader Unlocked Warning screen. Should I flash a new ROM such as CM or try again with the motoboot?
I would do a full wipe and re-install to see what happens.
It's just gone back into the CM boot loop where it hangs at the pulsing CM logo. Should I try a different version of CM that is more stable?

I'm running the latest CM12 on my xt1032 with no problem.
You may need to flash back to stock 4.4.4, re-install Philz, and them CM12.
The partition layout on the GPE ROM is different than the partition layout on the stock.
Do you know where I can find the stock 4.4.4 file? I can't seem to locate one?
Try here: http://motofirmware.center/files/category/26-falcon/
Thanks, I got 4.4.2 running fine. Any advice on how to avoid getting stuck in another bootloop when I try to re-flash CM12?
Install the latest Philz, create a backup, then flash a ROM of your choice. To be safe, do a full wipe, including system, but not internal storage, before and after the ROM was been flashed.
Okay, Thanks for all your help.
So it all worked? I hope it did.
I'm afraid to say it did not work, It just went back into the boot loop.
How about flashing stock 4.4.4 or ota to the latest stock before flashing cm.
Are you flashing the cm for your phone?
Hi,
I recently tried to install a custom rom (Resurrection Remix) on the latest EMUI version which resulted in my device not booting anymore.
After several tries I gave up and wanted to simply use stock with root.
I installed SuperSU, but that did not show up in the application menu.
After that I recovered system and boot from a recent full backup and installed magisk.
That resulted in the device not booting anymore at all. This condition stays now.
I then reinstalled the stock rom via dload method, with a factory reset after, but it then started to be stuck in the blue screen with the honor logo.
Is there anything I can do? TWRP is gone, I only get the stock EMUI recovery.
This happened to mee too. You should try a wipe data and cache from recovery, then reboot. It worked for me.
P.s i flashed a stock recovery don't know if TWRP will work the same, try.
After the dload update the stock recovery is installed again, I wiped data and cache already, but that didnt make it work too :/
EDIT: Found the error: The /data partition is unusable in it's current state (f2fs). Is F2FS the default filesystem for /data or do I need to change it to ext4 or something?
Hi there
I have flashed stock ROM 8.0, with the last Odin
After that I flash TWRP
I erase data / swipe phone to give TWRP the right to modify the phone
It's ok, TWRP can flash .zip, I flash Magisk
The phone reboot like after a factory reset, but the problem is, the phone force encryption again, because when I go back to TWRP after that, the partitions are read only....
It was ok with the 7.0 stock rom btw, but I don't knox what to do with this problem on 8.0. I have try no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 and 5.1 but doesn't fix it.
