Yeah it's only got shut down, you can root and install xposed though, that'll give you the options.

There is a reboot option. Hold the power button for like 18 seconds and boom.

I use CWM that you get after you root your phone.
quick boot
I hold down the power button for 2sec to get the shutdown menu and if I hold it for more than 5sec it will reboot... I don't see why I need an app for that
anreboot: reboot, recovery, bootloader, off options

i'd rather press soft keys
If you don't have a rooted phone try 'Fast Reboot'.
Although it does not close the device down it closes all Apps freeing up resources, memory and resets the phone if it has any errors.
Read the reviews... Many swear by it and I find it actually works very well.

Strange... It should reboot. Are you rooted or changed the stock firmware?
Quick boot does what you want by the sound of it. Free version on market.
Can set short cuts up as well if you don't want to go into the app itself.
Although for any app to trigger reboot you need root.

Everyday I learn something new about Android, thanks.
Alright, I currently have a HTC Aria running CM9, I was going to purchase an HTC One X from AT&T. However, I have one question. If I root it, and the device begins to bootloop or hangs for any reason, how will I stop it? I wouldn't be able to remove the battery....
reboot to recovery by manual, n do reset.. hehe

How would you go about that? Just power button and down volume button? Sorry, on my current phone the volume is broke, so I have to do it through CWM

also you can push power button for 10 seconds or more, with a bit of luck phone will turn off.
But after that you still need volume button ...
I understand now, I didn't realize that there was a kill switch and that after holding the power button down for 10 seconds, the device turns off.
Hello falks..
my HTC one x phone won't respond ..
this happened when I maybe disabled one of the system features by the Carot app ..
Now when I open the phone, I get a BLANK screen .. and I can't access any of the phone features .. and when I press the power button, it just restart and the same thing happen again and again.
I couldn't upgrade the system through my computer, because when I plug it, it says CHARGE only ! and I can't change it.

Can you get into TWRP?
Hold the power button for ~10-15 seconds (lights should start flashing) and hold down volume down.
You can let go of power when you see the HTC screen, but not volume down

What ROM were you on? I suggest reflashing the ROM.
don't forget to flash the boot.img, then the ROM

might seem a bit of a dumb question, but are you sure, you are using the Volume Up buton to select the Recovery in the bootloader
and not the select button ?
You first power down your phone, then press volume down and power at the same time, and hold. After a second or two, release the power, then the volume down. Press volume down once and then press volume up to select recovery.
