Hey,
I've currently received a notification for an OTA update to 4.4.2 on my rooted Nexus 5. I was under the impression that if you root your phones, you no longer get updates OTA (source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508292). For example, with 4.4.1 I manually flashed the .zip file. My question is should I update using OTA or should I manually flash 4.4.2? Are there advantages/disadvantages to both? And why am I getting OTA updates when my device is rooted?

Hey guys,
So I am currently on 4.4.0 with the Camera Mod V1.3 installed. What's the best way to prepare myself for the 4.4.1 OTA update? As far as I'm aware, I will have to make the camera stock again.
I am rooted with CF-Root and have TWRP recovery installed. Do I have to worry about those prior to doing the OTA update?
Cheers

Hey guys, I rooted using chainfire and was wondering how I should tackle getting the 4.4.1 update? What would be the best method do you think? I'm only posting this because I remember reading that someone had a little bit of trouble with 4.4.1 and chainfire.
Thanks a ton!

I know it may look weird. I had 4.4 then I unlocked and rooted it. Then I used OTA 4.4.1 zip file to flash the OTA. Now, how can I get back to my stock 4.4 and run OTA online without needing root?
Download and fastboot flash the original factory images supplied by Google. Please read general sticky thread

First post from a long time lurker! I haven't quite seen this question answered elsewhere so hope not to get flamed
Assuming I were to unlock, root and change the kernel of the N5 (but still use the stock ROM) am I right in assuming that I cannot then accept OTAs?
If so:
a) How are OTAs for the stock rom then installed?
b) Are there risks that you end up in a boot loop if an OTA comes along? If so, is there a setting to actually block automatic OTAs?
Thanks in advance!
