[Q] Sprint Nexus 5 long SMS question - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm coming from a Note 2 and if I ever had to send a text over 160 characters it would appear as one long message on my end and be broken down into separate 160 character messages for the recipient. I know it's not possible to go beyond the 160 characters in Hangouts so I switched to 8sms. While in 8sms, it allows me to type a long text (over 160 characters) but it never successfully sends.
I know of the option to convert long SMS to MMS, however I'd like to know if I can avoid this and have the phone simply break up the long text into separate 160 character messages like on the Note 2. Thank you for your help

Text Messages / Clock issue

Having a slight problem here with my new captivate (came from an iPhone 4 and happy btw )
When someone sends me a text, and I reply... sometimes my 'bubble' will go above theirs and during a fast texting conversation I can send many texts that will go above all of my friends, causing it to be very hard to read. This happens with a bunch of people that text me. All people involved are on AT&T network, all getting automatic time from smartphones.
Any way to force texts to go in the order your device receives/sends them rather than by a time stamp?
Thanks folks
I've installed handcent and set it as my default in launcherpro.... BUT now I get double notifications (one handcent, one original) up top and only the handcent one clears when I view the message

Disable notifications in the settings for the Messaging app that came with the phone.

[Q] text message is letters and number

somtimes when i recieve a text it looks like (ioas74$$3ifu8) or somthing similar what could be the causes I own a HTC EVO 4G( the non-rooting version) lol.
I had a similar issue. It only happened when someone was trying to send me one of those Emoji emoticons (usually from an iPhone). Some messaging apps allow you to receive them such as Handcent and GOSMS Pro. Might try that out?
I actually have handcent and I even have the emoticon pactch for emoji, however its the text that gets scrabbled it must be a language miscommunication between phone or bug.

[Q] Reject Call Text

Hey gang,
Long time no see. Just made the leap to the One X and have a few questions. Here the first...
When receiving an incoming call, the screen could be unlocked, or it could be locked.
If it's unlocked, there doesn't seem to be an option to reject a call and send the default SMS to the caller - either with one click, or a two (actually THREE)-step process as below.
If it's locked, you're offered the multi-step process of dragging the reject icon into the lock ring, then the UI offers you the send text option that, when selected, doesn't just send the default reject SMS, but rather asks you to pick one from your quick text list, then send it. It doesn't even default to your like, default...?
Weird thing is, there's a place to define the text for your default call reject SMS in the phone settings.
So. Where am I going wrong?

As long as we're discussing it, it also seems that the response-text will only go out through the default messaging app - there isn't any way to use GV. Any ideas?

SMS Test grouping?

If I send a text message to multiple people (with MMS turned off, so it actually sends SMS), it's grouping that text in it's own little section in the text messaging app, instead of putting the message inline with the rest of the conversations with the respective people. Is there a way to fix this? setting perhaps? It's very annoying!
Thanks,

Because that is how group messages are handled...as their own conversation...you could try turning group messages off in the app settings...

AT&T Marshmallow Update

So.. they took our ability to change font size within the messages app with the volume key away, and give no way to change both. I.e, I liked having my conversation size Medium and the text that shows on the main page of messages Medium too. Now if you change within the messages app, it will make the conversation size smaller than the other text. Has anyone found a way to fix this? I'm non-rooted.
