Google search battery usage. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was wondering if someone can answer this and let me know if its normal. I'm seeing that google search is using a very high percentage of the battery. Is this normal. I'm not doing anything in particular. Any ideas what can be causing all this usage.

[Q] Chrome battery drain?

I seem to have extremely high battery usage by Chrome. It could be a bug where it is reporting incorrect stats, but I'm not quite sure. Chrome has a CPU total of 2m 20s, but its 11%. For comparison, Facebook has a CPU total of 15 m and its usage is 3%.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
I've noticed high reporting from chrome too. Sucks cuz I love the browser

Maps using battery when gps on?

If I leave gps off, my battery is great an maps doesn't show up in battery usage. But if I leave gps on, I get this. I've never touched latitude so not sure why this is happening.

Do you have Google Now installed? Mine started showing up once I installed Now because it would look for my location.
But my battery hasn't suffered at all, really. Maps just shows up now

No don't have Google now. I went into settings in maps and then location settings. I then turned location reporting to do not report. I'm gonna try this an see if it fixes it.

I e just started using Facebook and my battery life has halved, is this normal? Or is it the official Facebook app? Does anyone know of a better app or how to stop Facebook draining my battery?

Turn off notifications.
Try using better battery stats, probably some apps causing wake locks.
I've got it running now thanks

Maybe just use the browser for Facebook, sure it has less features, but your battery life may improve, just a thought

I had this happen to me one day. Google Search kept my phone awake all day and drained my battery.
Its a known issue on googles end.

To fix Google search go to Google Search app information and clear the data this also clears your launcher data so you will have to re setup your launcher shortcut and widget's.

Hello can someone please explain to me why backup wake lock is constantly causing my battery to drain and is there anyway to resolve this apart from taking the backup option off as this would delete everything from the Google servers

The only time I saw this was with the EntriesRefresh googlesearch wakelock.
It doesn't happen anymore, I did 2 things: turn off Google photos auto sync and I let the wifi on all the day (even when I'm not using it)
No more Google wakelocks !

Have you tried first unselecting all google syncs (mail, calendar, drive, google+, etc...) and then reselecting only those you need? Also try disabling Google backup service for a while..
Yeh I tried u checking the backup box but didn't make any difference I will try juice defender and see how that goes for
Thanks for your replies
