DEVELOPMENT DISCONTINUED ON 1 March 2014
WHAT'S THE TRICK?
Most all of our kernels are using PMEM as allocator... this kernel is using ION. It's a new technique for memory allocation. It's working more smoothly as old one! We can boot (and run as fully working in a future) new Sense 5 with Jelly Bean with it!
So it's a base for kernel developers. Don't expect awesome features like S2W from this kernel... A lot of work spend to get working ION allocator on it.
P.S. It will be main kernel for fresh HTC Sense of no forks will be available
Hi guys. I made some experiments to port ION on our device. I spend some sleepless nights to get it worked, and today I want to share my experiments with community
So because I'm a russian guy, I'm bad to english sorry for grammar
This kernel can load Sense 4 ICS or Sense 5 JB.
I've prepared two versions: ION and PMEM. ION is for JellyBean Sense, PMEM for ICS.
But before the files ... technical info and credits.
WHAT THE DIFF BETWEEN PMEM AND ION
Both are memoru allocators, but ION is a new thing that come from Google. It's slighty faster and required to use fresh version of android
See this thread for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078504

This kernel has been around for the Inc and the Evo. Now I'm bringing it to the N1 and the Desire!!
Great, Heard about this kernel a lot. I'll try it today on MIUI
Wow, so far very fast on Cm7. Will post some details later, but initially, very promising.
Never heard of this kernel before, gonna give it a try someday.
Hey Cayniarb
Could you tell me - a noob, what are the differences between your kernel (for desire) and the EViolets one and the Richard Trips one in GingerVillain?
Thought I'd give your kernel a try - so far so good.
I did notice though it doesn't have an ONDEMAND govenor - defaults to SMARTASS. Performance seems OK though, time will tell regarding stability etc.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this Cayniarb
Can you tell me which governors are available on this kernel or is it only smartass? What are the minimum and maximum frequencies?
Cheers
Might try this one for my desire. Will report back when i have an idea how this one works out

The kernel has interactive, conservative, performance, userspace, and smartass. On demand has been removed to force the default to smartass. With smartass, you will get a default screen-off max of 384Mhz. Available speeds are 128Mhz to 1.26Ghz (not all phones can clock that high!!).

I don't know enough about the desire community to answer you... I don't actually have a desire - the kernel started on Inc and Evo (both of which I do have) and some n1 and desire users had been asking me to bring it over to their phones, so I finally got around to it and posted them up for everyone.

[KERNEL][GPL][3.0.y]Advanced Sense Kernel - r2
The Beast Mode kernel was buit by sbryan12144 from Team Blackout. It based on Team Virtuous HTC msm7x30 3.0 kernel. A month later, p2pjack forked blackout kernel repo and started writing his own kernel, then he named it "Beast Mode MOD kernel". Unfortunately, 2 weeks later, p2pjack had bought a Nexus 4 and moved on. So i PMed him to let me take over his work and continue working on it. This is what he said to me:

Beta version will have bugs/issues. Please report bugs/issues that you found WITH a logcat, if you don't report bugs/issues by following those steps, your report will be ignored, because it will be useless...
Beta version will have some experimental features, so it MAYBE dangerous for your device, so use it at your own risk, BACKUP YOUR PHONE BEFORE TEST THEM!
If you don't follow guide/instruction for Beta version and then you break your device ; you won't get help from me, i will laugh at your face!
Thank you for read all information above! Have a great day!
1/03/2013: A new beta version. This is r2a beta version, if it's stable, so it will be stable version.
Changelog is on Github. There are some improvements for performance and power (battery life). And r3 will be released until s2w code for synaptic_3k touchscreen driver is available. r3 will have many changes, like new undervolting code, GPU overclocking code, ....
So, here is the link to r2a beta version, please BACKUP YOUR PHONE before test it: http://www.mediafire.com/?5s00rucrxhrmolh
Trick:
How to check which touch screen driver you have?:
Download 'Terminal Emulator' App from Google Play, then type this in:
Code:
cat /sys/android_touch/vendor
Then you will see some kind of 'code' like this:
Code:
ATMEL_blahblah_blahblahblah :p
, that means you have Atmel touch screen driver.
Sweep2wake feature:
Authored by show-p1984. If you don't know how it is, please spend a little time to watch this Video:
To active/control it, you should use ViperDHD ROM, there is a option in Venom Tweaks (Setting Application -> Scroll down a bit -> Venom Tweaks), you can control it (Only can 'Enable' or 'Disable' for now, 'Enable (no backlight buttons)' option hasn't worked yet, DO NOT TRY IT!).
If you use another Sense ROMs (Sabsa Prime/Bliss, Blackout, Virtuous Infinity...), download "Sweep2Wake-Widget" app from Google Play Store. It's a Widget, so use it as a Widget, download it, then add the Widget to your home screen, tap it. When it turn to green color, s2w is ready/
Get the 'last_kmsg' and 'kmsg' files:
To get those file. Just use a File Manager app which can access to "/" partion. Then access to "/proc", you will find them in there.

Any chance you could make one for Beastmode v1.5? Are there any significant differences between Beastmode v1.5 and v1.5?
Last, if I remember correctly, you made some tweaks to the Beastmode kernel, are this present in your v1.5, or is your v1.5 a stock v1.5 updated to 3.0.55?

I've had a look at the source of the Ville C2 kernel and that would take up a considerable amount of time to port. I've tried to get it to initialise with a dodgy defconfig from the sensation but it didn't seem to work. You may want to look at the current k3.4.x thread and see how the guys there are doing. The last thing I remember was that Banb from team darksense got stuck on porting the camera so you may want to ask him for his sources.
And best of luck with it pal! If anyone can get it ported, it would be you

I know mate, I was being sarcastic lol. The ICS kernel contained pmem memory allocation whereas now it has ION. Since we also don't have a base kernel to work from, most of it is pretty much from scratch. That's why I stated earlier that it would take some time to port it.

I believe in the Revelation thread Sebastian said he was working on something better.

i feel to your hard work. Thanks SebastianFM.
Should we flash this kernel in revelation to get auto focus back?
Bardzo dziękuję Sebastian!
I beg everyone to actually browse the commits on Sebastian's github. You will plainly see why this was a painstaking process to complete. He starting loading all the commits a few hours ago and completed them in a very timely manner. Each and every commit (31 in total) is well separated and easy to follow.
I know pressure was put on by other "kernel devs", but they had the option of porting this themselves from the start. Only one person (SebastianFM) actually stepped to the plate and made it happen. I would encourage all users of this kernel, and every kernel that will soon be based off of this, to show the utmost gratitude for the efforts put forth here.

And now you can tell me. Do yow think it will be possible to make this awesome kernel working on AOSP?

That`s Pretty amazing to have Real Jelly Bean`s Kernel for our lovely Device " Sensation "....
Such a progress turns our sensation to an updated PHONE with most common and well known features that is included in modern smart phones Nowadays
to have a device with real jelly bean kernel and OTG without power supply connector and that would be great to have sense based MIUI V5 and semi official 4.1 ROM
Though keep going SebastianFM
sorry im newbie, is this only for devs? because i didnt see any link to download this kernel, or maybe this thread is made for people who understand about it?
