[Q] Skyrocket will boot into recovery and download but hang when booting all ROMS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

The Phone was working fine. When it stopped sending emails, i rebooted and it showed the "samsung" boot screen, then the screen turns black and there is nothing. Sometimes, it will boot into ROM after sitting there for 30 minutes. It is SGII skyrocket running CM 10.2 with TWRP. Tried flashing stock rom and various backups and roms. A few days earlier I had flashed a rom to experiment but ended up reverting back using a backup. I am able to get into download and recovery mode. Is it possible I corrupted something and what do I need to do to get it to boot correctly? Thanks.

Flash the proper recovery, then wipe and flash the Rom again. I'm not going to help you past that, since I've already explained this exact problem last week.

I was given the advice to use odin and flash a stock recovery. Havent tried it yet, but its on my list. That and finishing the christmas tree. My problem was similar and phone would randomly kernal lock during boot.

Thats not helpful. What is "the proper recover?" TWRP has been working for months. Not even a link to where you explained the solution? I searched the forum before I posted and I didnt see it. I flashed the stock with odin before posting and it did the same thing.

You have many options for ROMs so YOU need to decide what you want to use.

Wrong section. This is for development. Try reflashing clockwork or redownload the rom

Did you create a nandroid back up? If you did, go into cwm > backup and restore > restore > find your orignal rom > yes
If not re-install cwm to install roms from sd card and NOT internal memory.
Follow the guides below to the letter.

How to fix your problem: Read, read, then read some more.
ANY problem you have has already been addressed. 99% of the time, nvflash will save you.
Now stop making multiple threads and either READ or gtfo and stop messing with your phone. If you don't have the patience to learn and read then you deserve to brick your phone.
i just nv flashed it i tryed to mount the usb from cwm recovery and it doesnt mount

Flash Kernel

So a while back I rooted my S3 i535, and started trying to install customer roms. The only one that would work was Slimbean so I have been using that for a while, but it has begun to occasionally freeze on me.
I would like to try switching over to maybe Liquidsmooth or ParanoidAndroid. My problem is whenever I flash these roms the phone won't boot, and just sits at the splash screen. I am kind of thinking maybe it is because I need to flash a different kernel, but I have never done that and am unsure of which Kernel I should use or the steps I should take in doing this. Any advice is appreciated.

I see that I have the Cyanogenmod Kernel installed currently which I suppose either is installed with Slimbean or it may have been installed because I tried the CM10 rom first, but it wouldn't boot.

Wiping the device. Always best in the long run.

Well when I originally rooted and flashed the device it was brand new out of the box. Even then the only custom rom that I could get to work was Slimbean.
Pretty sure I tried all the other custom roms listed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850506
I have installed Slimbean a few time because I started getting errors, and keyboard kept crashing and things like that. I always wipe cache, and dalvik cache.

Sorry to hear this, there is no reason why my sg3 would work and yours doesnt though
a ODIN reflash back to stock I assume will fix things.
if you'd like to try a clean stock TouchWiz ROM, please give mine a try and let me know how you like it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275376
but from the sound of it, it sounds as though either
you are not waiting long enough for it to boot (first boot can take up to 10-20 mins..)
or not wiping fully in recovery before the flash

in theory AOSP ROMs should load faster than a Touch Wiz ROM as TW ROMs are around 1 gig for the ROM.zip and AOSP ROMs are about half that, but still I've had ROMs take over 15 mins to load, I know one time I thought it was the phone, but then I wiped fully again, and waited 20 mins and it loaded. I would say anything after 20 mins though, then it's definitely something wrong.
Ok backing stuff up then going to flash back to stock then try LiquidSmooth and see if it will let me boot up. Will let ya know how it goes.
So I install stock un-rooted rom. Then installed a stock rooted rom, then installed liquidsmooth and all I get is the Samsung symbol flashes then it goes black. Then it vibrates and the Samsung symbol flashes then blackness. Just repeats this over and over =(
I noticed you said that you're wiping cache and dalvik, but make sure you're also wiping data and system too.

Anyways. I wiped everything on the phone before every rom installation. System restore, dalvik, and cache. The custom rom still won't boot.

odd black screen after every boot/reboot ?

i've been using CWM recovery and CM nightlies. they've been just fine. today i restored a two day old backup, as i didn't care for the current nightly.
now the phone black screens after the samsung splash.
i've tried:
factory reset
wipe dalvick/cache
restoring other backups
flashing other nightlies
and the phone will boot for the first time, but if i select 'reboot' or 'power down' on the next boot it's only a samsung splash, then black screen (no cm splash, no response from buttons input), and will not boot again.
what's the problem ?

i've done that. right now, i've wiped everything, and then flashed a nightly, and it will not reboot !
it will only boot the -one- time directly after flashing a new rom. any reboot attempts after that means it freezes, or fails, with a black screen directly after the samsung splash.
what have i missed ?

Sniped lol
i've wiped everything. flashed back to stock via odin, rooted, just like always.
i've even wiped in between.
after the FIRST clean boot, there is no rebooting. all it does is continue to hang after the samsung splash. no cyanogenmod, no stock rom, no nothing, nothing will boot the SECOND TIME.
i really don't understand this.
i'm using CWM recovery 5.5.0.4, cm-nightly 10-05, and it just don't think it's going to work properly again. it's a real shame, cause i really like the size, weight, and speed of this phone. but if it won't boot, i can't use it.
if anyone has any tips, i'll try them. at this point i really don't mind destroying it, and it might make me feel better to do so.
i meant to add, it doesn't matter if i use a backup, flash a fresh new rom, or use stock. the first boot works fine, but all boots after that wether from powering down or selecting 'reboot' fail.
maybe this part will help -
if i wipe the phone completely, it will boot. let's call this boot 1.
i can setup the phone, or change nothing in settings, doesn't appear to matter, and choose 'power down' or 'reboot'. let's call this reboot 1.
the next time i power on the phone, black screen. no CM splash, nothing. i guess we'll call this hang 1 ?
ideas ?

Make sure you use the latest cm10 nightly, as the old stable one is a lot less "stable" than the name suggests, and is lacking features

thanks for the tip !
i finally got all the corrupted files (or whatever was causing problems) rm'd from both the phone and sdcard.
as of yesterday i had CM-10.o + CWM 6.0.3.8 and gapps 2012-8 (i think) working nicely on the phone. backed up a nandroid of all of it two times, and restored them to make sure restores were working. yes, everything fine.
as of today, i have CM-10.2 (latest nightly) + CMW 6.0.3.8 and gapps (current) working nicely on the phone. backed CURRENT up nandroid on sdcard, and restored a few times to make sure. yes, working fine.
seems it was
A) corrupted files/filessystems
and/or
B) too old a clockworkmod recovery
C) unstable CM version( s )
but now all is fine. thanks to all that helped !

[Q] Help, I deleted my stock rom by accident

This is my first post and I'm not sure where to put it but I hope this is right.
I'm kinda new to flashing ROMs and was trying to flash one using safestrap on my GS3. I couldn't find one that worked and went back to my stock ROM. In the stock ROM cell service completely died and wouldn't work, to combat this problem I removed all ROMs, ROM slots, and wiped the stock ROM cache. Nothing. So then I restored to my nandroid backup I made yesterday and that deleted my OS. Now when I boot it just gets stuck at the second Samsung boot logo (there the first one that just says "Samsung" and "unlocked", then the second on says "Galaxy SIII" or something) now I have no OS and I'm not sure how to fix this, can I get some help please?
Okay, I got the stock firmware installed but I still have no service anywhere. Any ideas?

First thing I would do is make sure your imei is still present in the about phone section. If it is, move on to the next step.
I would go completely back to stock, Odin flash either the stock 4.3 or 4.4 image depending on which you were on. If you're unsure, post what it says in download mode.
If you do that and you still have no service, then go to verizon and get a new sim card. Flashing a new modem wouldn't fix this situation.

[Q] Having trouble with "RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING" message

Alright, I'm at my wit's end and I've searched the web far and wide. Tonight I thought I'd root, recover and MOD my S5 (have done so before with the S3 and Epic many times).
Ran into a series of problems, but here is where I'm at presently:
I got Philz touch recovery working fine. I used it to install [MOAR][NE5] v2.2 / The Next Level / Wicked Sick / Endless Customization which noted a couple errors (didn't say which) but overall seemed to call the installation a success.
Then I go to restart and I get the Samsung S5 splash, followed by dark screen and reset vibration, the following message:
(blue) RECOVERY BOOTING
(red) RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
(yellow) SET WARRANTY BIT: recovery
which then kicks me back to Philz touch.
Any idea what I can do? I'm glad I can at least get to recovery (and download mode). Hopefully at worst putting stock on the SD and installing that from Philz would solve the problem... but I'm a little pessimistic since the ROM I just installed doesn't seem to work. Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

You can always Odin back on stock and start over, or flash a different rom.

Yeah, no luck there either (can get into TWRP and flash the ROM but same boot problem). Got a bad feeling I'm bricked, but will try to flash stock through Odin :-/ Thanks
If you can get into recovery or download mode you are not bricked. Odin is your best bet.
What firmware was your phone running? It is possible you don't have the correct firmware installed for the ROM. You could also try reflashing the ROM. Don't worry about the warning you are getting, that shows up because your recovery is not stock.

NE5. Hmm, that makes sense, perhaps that was the problem. Ultimately, I Odin-ed to NK4 which solved matters (well, unbricked anyways).
Well good news for you is that MOAR 5.0 has been released.
