[Q] Whitelisted ESN.....? - General Questions and Answers

I am considering buying a phone on Galaxy s3 sgh-t999L (T-mobile) on Ebay. I am a bit concerned because the phone came up with a whitelisted ESN.....? So I am wondering if this phone is safe to buy...?

[Q] Samsung protection plus mobile elite

Does anyone happen to know if Samsung is planning to cover the Samsung Galaxy s6 under their protection plus plans ? http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/P-GT-AKXXS0HC
It seems as of now they only are covering up to s5 their plan is far better than what my carrier offers and I fear the carries have gotten to Samsung and asked them to not cover their latest flagship phones.
Bump
Looks like I just needed to wait longer. you can now purchase the plans off Samsung website http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/protection-plan

Never owned a Galaxy Sx

Hello. I have had nothing but Nexus phones for the last few years. I really like the S6, but am not really sure on a few things. Let me just ask the questions I have, and see if some kind soul will answer them.
1. I'm guessing short of buying a way overpriced international version, there's no way to get an unlocked/carrier-free version of this phone?
2. I use Straight Talk with my Nexus 6. What is the best way (without buying a Straight Talk branded phone) to use an S6 with Straight Talk?
3. If I buy an AT&T S6 outright, do I have to buy service with them? If so, can I cancel after a month and switch to ST?
4. Compared to the Nexus line, is it hell to root an S6 or load custom ROMs on one?
Thanks again for all the help. If anyone is wondering, I do love my N6, but I started running lately, and the 6" form factor is just too much of a beast to strap onto my arm or carry in a pouch. The S6 would be perfect for that.
Anyone?
i can help you with the last question...i think the easiest android phone to flash roms is the galaxy....i used S2 S4 and now S6....and they are the easiest...its simple....maybe you wont find many custom roms for the S6 because of its only exynos variant...but its easy to flash them..

1. Tmobile is the closest you'll get to the international version but your going to have to get it SIM unlocked (try swappa)
2. Take SIM out of n6 and put in s6 I use my s6 on straight talk with no problems you just might have to set the APN settings
3. If you buy s6 outright i do not believe you will have to have service with them should be able to purchase and put your ST sim right in
4. Cannot comment on this but looks like someone already did

Well, the easiest phones on which to flash ROMs are the Nexus phones. But I just wanted to make sure the S6 wasn't too difficult as well.
Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the answers. Where did you get your S6? I can buy the 32GB version from T-Mobile for $629.99. If the one Verizon sells was able to be used with ST, I'd buy it, because they have the lowest prices by far (64GB version for $699). Any idea if the Vz one would work with ST?
Got my gold carrier unlocked S6 for $720 shipped via fedex 2nd day. Not bad I'd say.

I got mine from the ebay seller that had them for $700 the first week, Theres a post on here about using verizon on straight talk, if its like all their others you will get annoyed by the "incorrect sim" message they like to parade around
willmyphonework.net is a good place to see if it has correct bands and what not

Should I exchange my s7 for an s6 active?

The at&t version i got has a locked bootloader so no root. Im so used to rooting all my android phones for various reasons. I know the s6 active has root. Should I just return the s7 and get an s6 active?
I returned my S7 Edge two days ago and reactivated my beautifully rooted S5. No regrets. I'll pickup the S7 again if it gets root (unless I have another new rooted phone by then).
Return the att s7 and take a road trip to canada and buy the exynos version up there.

Bought a lemon from craigslist. Need some help.

Hey guys and gals, not really new here just don't post very much, but I've gotten myself in a predicament. I recently bought a SM-G930T off of Craigslist but it is already factory unlocked so I could use it on Metro PCS. The thing about it is it is a 64GB phone which I know wasn't released in the United States yet. So I called Metro PCS to get the phone activated and the phone has a contract under it so I cannot use it. Does anyone know where my phone is from? It has the Snapdragon 820 CPU according to CPU-Z. Just trying to figure out what I can do with this thing instead of using it as a Galaxy S7 Touch
Thanks in advance,

Was probably stolen bro
Few things you can do: check the IMEI at Swappa's ESN check: see if the phone is A) not a fake B) not stolen/blacklisted.
If the phone isn't stolen/blacklisted, you could try to get a sim card and put it in.
How is there a contract on an unreleased phone?
You sure this phone is an international 64GB version of our phone in the US? not sure even China or the other places have our processor and 64GB of ram

I think he has an international version (most likely) or a clone. I sold my htc 10 to some dude and the reason he bought my phone was because he said it's really slow and imei changed. So at a glance, the phone was identical to my S7. The biggest difference was obviously the display and it's brightness, also it's somewhat more laggy than the s7 already is. And lastly the fingerprint didn't work AND didn't even see it on the settings. I can see how an average dude can get tricked but even I couldn't believe my eyes, I switch phones about 6-7 times a year and this is by far the best clone I've seen.
Why don't you try using a tmobile sim card? Isn't metro cdma under tmobile's network? just try to convince them and threaten to leave then lol

Forgot to mention mine is a S7 Edge Duos, but since I bought the UAE phone to use here in the US I fear they might not accept it because of that even though it has never been rooted.

it should still qualify, its still an official samsung galaxy s7 edge regardless of variant, i'm confident if i was willing to pay the price of fast shipping i could send mine in from the UK to a friend over there to do the swap for me. (and my s7e g935f is rooted) the only problem is i dont have a friend in the US lol or i would.
you could always ring them up and clarify... should only take a minute im sure it will be no problem to get the full price of a s7e
