My phone is going nuts.. - HTC Desire S

So, for about a week now my power button hasn't been working and since I can't afford to fix it I've just installed an app that lets me lock and unlock my phone with the sensitivity sensor. All was fine until just a couple of minutes ago when the touch screen suddenly stopped working. And I really do mean suddenly, I was in the middle of writing a text. I've tried restarting the phone several times but to not avail. I also can't reinstall my rom asI can't boot into recovery since the power button is not working. The time also changed randomly after the screen stopped working, it's ahead by 2 hours now. So, I'd like to know if this could be a software or hardware problem. Any help will be appreciated.

U need to provide more info. Let's start with the name of the ROM you have.
U can always boot into recovery using adb, the command would be 'adb reboot recovery'. My power button is still working but non the less I still use the command always.

I'm using Viper Saga but I think that it was the app I installed that was messing my phone up. When I woke up in the morning my screen was working so I quickly disabled the app and uninstalled it and it's worked perfectly all day.

[Q] bricked htc inspire frozen on htc boot up and cant get to fastboot

hello.. i have looked for the answer to my question but i cant seem to find it, therefore i created this post.. sorry if i posted in the wrong section or if it is already out there.. i hope mr clown doesnt close my thread.
i rooted my phone doing it with the one click tool, and it worked perfectly fine.. the problem started when i tried to install a custom rom on it.. i installed rom manager and cwm fine.. but the problem is that i was following this instructions..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=11557769
which i read i had to get this rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868720
the problem is that i didnt realize that i needed eng s off and i had s off wich therefore i wasnt able to see the cwm screen..
following the steps that told me to wipe the data with the wipedat.zip.. i did it through rom manager.. when the phone rebooted it went to a dark screen slowly so i took the battery out, and now is frozen in the htc logo... i have tried the up/down/power combo but the phone vibrates 3-4 times and then it goes to a black screen with the light on... but i dont get anything else.. so im really stock at either htc screen or black screen... i need help!!! i hope some one nows a good way for me to fix this.
have you tried...
adb restart fastboot
or adb restart recovery or whichever it is
someone more familiur with adb can explain alil more on this
Download the stock ruu exe and run that from your computer.
Sent from me using this thing.
Try running adb reboot bootloader but first off run adb kill-server then adb devices to see if it is picking up your phone. If that doesnt work download the stock ruu and run it, hopefully all goes well with either method.
Just FYI - this was taken care of over in the General Forum.
Haven't heard from him since, but he was able to get into hboot.

Hey man i had a problem like that i used ace hack kit v9...Just do everything over again and it will work..
This is in the wrong section. Questions should be posted in the general section.
Its not volume up/down/power. Its just volume down + power. What is sounds like you did was restart your phone while it was trying to flash the rom. You should be able to get to the hboot menu just by holding power and volume down to power up the phone and wait till hboot shows up.
This will be probably the best answer I got.
1. Turn your phone off
2. Take out the battery and insert it back it
3. Don't turn your phone on
4. Plug in your USB cord, connected to your computer
5. Your phone will Automatically Boot up
6. You will be in the ClockWork Recovery
7. There will be many options
8. Select "BACK UP AND RESTORE"
9. Restore EVERYTHING.
10. youre phone will start normally, but it will be really LAGGY
11. Then ROOT your phone again to make it normal.
What has happened to yours has happened to mine. This is the way I fixed mine.

Stuck on Bootscreen / Cant use hboot menu

So i woke up to a non-responding phone this morning. Power-On would not work. Rebooted by taking off battery. It is stuck on HTC boot screen. I can go into Hboot and i can go up/down the menu but whenever i wanna select an option with the power button it will go straight to the HTC boot screen and im stuck again.
Im using AlphaRev S-off Hboot 6.98.1002, Radio-38.03.02.11_M, eMMC-boot. I installed it last year and its working fine since then. I havent fiddled around with it since then.
I dont care about the data on the phone. I just want it working again. So any solution is okay with me.
Is there some kind of self-flashing/installing rom i can put on the sd-card so i dont have to use the hboot menu?
UPDATE:
I managed to install another rom. Everything worked fine during installation. Then the first startup took ages. When asked to enter sim-code the touchscreen was not responsive at all. Meaning it did not react to anything. Power-On button is functioning a bit weird - sometimes not working at all , sometimes with delay.
Is this some kind of known bug or is the phone broken?

Best solution is RUU. If problem persists, consult your phone to work properly. :silly:
Can i use this RUU: RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed

If you have a GoldCard, you shouldn't worry about that. If you don't, then you should.
Im in the actual android system again now. It worked for like 5 minutes, flawlessly. Now im back to freezing and total lock up again.

[Q] AT&T bootloop or suddent reboot

Hi, i have been looking for answers on the forum, and i learn new things but not how to fix this or what is causing it.
I have buyed i997 from a reseller. He sayd it doesnt work because it have bootloop, but i thinks that is not too much problem getting it working again, so i started searching for the pc drivers n software, then i find here in the forum the stock rom with and without root, i tested them both with odin and the bootloop stills present. I wipe cache and do a factory reset but it keep bootlooping, then think maybe if i update to latest AT&T rom, but no luck.Sometimes the phone just start and theres no bootloop but its very rare and most of the time when i get to the lock screen or setup manager suddently a gapps or something crash and my phome freezes and reboot. I flashed the carbon-jb-v1.6 and suddently it worked fine, no more bootloop and everything smooth,no crashes etc.. then i installed Facebook app and when i was ttyping a message the phone froze up and then restarts, and the bootloop came again, and im stuck on it, and when i pass it, which is very rare, i start typing info in the startup manager and the phone freezes and reboot.. I wipe/format cache, dalvik, factory reset, formated system and data before and after flashing the carbon rom again and it keeps bootlooping. Somebody have similar problems or know how to fix it?
Thanks
P.d. sorry for my bad english.

Thanks man, but you think it can be the power button? When i unplug the battery and put it again the phone doesnt turn on or something, and when it boot up when i lock the screen with the power button it works fine. I set the cpu governor to conservative and since yesterday i didnt have any problem, but sometimes the phone reboots when typing, i think its someting with the processor or when the phone have little ram or something.
Thanks.

If you ran the phone on complete stock GB or FROYO and you are getting boot loops, it may be a hardware issue.
One of the few things that will give you boot loop with the samsung logo while using the phone is the power button.
Either way, it's no big deal to open it and clean it up to see if the problem goes away.

Thanks bud, I will try cleaning the button. Also I want to ask, is there something to log everything when the phone start? Or something to test the hardware functionality?
Thank you for your time

Bootlog Uptime will keep a record of all boots from an Android OS perspective ... It will also track crashes... It won't track events outside of a complete restart (i.e. power button bootloops.. But those are pretty obvious when they occur)
For hardware testing, try Z Device Test... That won't tell you about the buttons though... If your screen turns on without pressing power button or from any other standard event (like receiving a text or a phone call), or the phone restarts by itself, time to get cleaning..

Hey thanks, that was very useful.. i risky miself to do a stock flrom flashing with pit checking the Nand erase all option in Odin 3.07, and the random reboots are gone . Now i have one question, Do i need an special kernel for JB 4.2.2? i plan to flash the Carbon-jb-v1.6 rom but i dont know if i need another kernel
I'm glad to hear you solved your issue.
For JB, use the kernel provided with the rom.

HTC ONE S stuck in boot cycle, nothing works

Hi, as the title, my HTC ONE S is stuck in an infinite boot loop. I've tried factory reset, restore, it goes to HTC logo then restarts. Only way to stop it is to do a power down. When this started (yesterday) I caught the battery icon as a solid gray, with an (!) in the middle. A quick google showed that this means the battery is out of calibration (odd, it was working fine up until yesturday, and I still had 2/3 battery when this happened). I've since ordered a replacement battery, but I wanted to know if anyone has something I could try?
Phone is locked, unrooted.
I called the Virgin Mobile Canada, since I got the phone around this time last year, they said I was 10 days out of warrenty.. go figure
ps: I plugged in the phone until the LED was solid green. It still restarts during boot.
Have you tried running an RUU? Mot sure that you can if you can't get fully booted, but it may be worth a shot. If not, since you're out of warranty, there is not better time to root and run a custom rom.

Try run a RUU and if it does work . Download a battery calibration app and see if that fixes it aslong as you have the bootloader your fine . As the ruu requires bootloader . But you need to be fully booted up into android . To do that go to bootloader -> Fastboot make sure usb is connected And make sure you have Fastboot files (Google . Fastboot files ) then open cmd from where the Fastboot files are (shift right click in folder then open command line here )then do command 'Fastboot reboot' should boot u up into android . Make sure you try let your phone charge don't worry about the led
Hit thanks if I helped

HTC One Mini (No OS/Data wiped) HELP!

I need some help, I'm a total noob at all this stuff. So basically, all what I wanted to do is root my phone. So I unlocked bootloader, installed twrp, had super user and everything but while I was on the twrp menu rather than hitting the install button I hit the wipe button then accidentally (really) confirmed wiping. Now my phone is completely wiped no OS nor data, at least it boots up but the booting up loading screen stays there forever. I can also get into the bootloader screen but for some reason when I try to install twrp again it doesn't install, there's like that small green bar at the top right of the bootloader screen it only does half way 50% and never increases. I'm really hopeless, lol. Please help, what should I do? How to install HTC's One mini OS from scratch without having any problems?

Did that too with my HTC One M7UL once upon a time. You can push files to your device, when it's in fastboot, via adb fastboot. So push a system/zip to your device and flash it in TWRP, when you get there. As long as you can do adb in fastboot, there's hope for you!
Good luck
Thanks for your reply.
Do you by any chance know where to get HTC One Mini's system zip?
Hello, put your phone out by holding the powerbutton till it is really out.
Then hold volume up and the powerbutton, this will get you to TWRP.
Now you can use ADB sideload to push a rom to your phone by using adb.

Thanks for the reply really appreciate your help, but when I try to push a file using cmd it says ''error device not found'' What could be causing this error to happen and how to fix? Thanks again.
It's a good idea to update the drivers for the phone, if you don't already have that. Btw, that's the HTC syncing program. Try the command: adb devices. That will show connected devices.
