[ROM][4.2][12/14/2013] DV-ROM Alpha 0.4 [noCIQ] - AT&T LG G2

DV-ROM
This ROM came out because there are things I like about the D800 based ROMs and some things I didn't care for (CIQ). I basically took CleanROM SE 2.0 and CleanROM XE 2.0 and merged them together to create what I liked out of both ROMs.
The goal of this ROM is have stability and original functionality of the D800 stock firmware but without CIQ. Until someone figures out how to strip CIQ out of the D800 stock framework I'll use the framework from an International device.
Orginal threads... Please show Scott some love since he did all the groundwork for me to create this ROM. I don't want or care for any donations, I created this ROM to fit my personal wants and am sharing it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451592 CleanROM SE 2.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2491006 CleanROM XE 2.0
In General...
Things that I used from CleanRom XE
Framework
Things that I used from CleanROM SE
Most of the apps
This is a very stock looking ROM. I didn't include any mods such as splitscreen, xposed, etc. I have implemented the same options as Scott has in the Aroma installer (remove sliders, apps, etc.). I figure most of these mods can be applied after installing the ROM using the Xposed framework anyways.
This ROM is really an early early Alpha version. I flashed the ROM using CWM (Philz) and TWRP (2.6.3.3) and it successfully booted from both.
I never had the MMS issue seen with other ROMs myself, but I don't have that many friends with iPhones, so this issue is untested.
Please use this thread for support and questions, please don't bother Scott. This ROM is an independent extension of his work.

Disclaimer: As with any ROM that you flash on your device, you are responsible for what you do. This software is provided free of charge with no warranties. Pleas make sure you nandroid and have the knowledge to exit a bootloop and restore prior to flashing. I was able to flash using TWRP and CWM, but nothing is ever guaranteed in this world.

Changelog
0.1 - First alpha version
0.2 - Alpha version - replaced a .APK to add back Battery Manager and Data Manager
0.3 - Test version that never panned out.
0.4 - Replaced a few D800 APK files with D802 ones to return back functionality. This also means that "Battery Manager" and "Data Manager" shortcuts won't be in the Application drawer.
Changed the gps.conf to be North America specific
Bugs
Missing Battery Manager, Data Manager on alpha 0.1. This is in LGSettings.apk. I'll have it updated in 0.2.
Missing Back LED settings. Caused by a mismatch between D800/D802. Battery Manager and Data Manager will be missing from App Drawer.
Signal while on HSPA/HSPA+ shows 1 bar (still has a good connection though), shows properly on LTE.

FAQ
Can I flash this on other devices?
Be my guest, please nandroid first. Anything you do on your device you're repsonsible for. I won't be responsible for what you do.
Will you make a D802, VS980, etc. ROM?
It's not in my plans.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

I didn't really plan on flashing any ROMs with this device because I finally started using xposed... but it looks like my curiosity is going to get the best of me.
Thanks for putting this out here for us!!

Awesome! Clean Rom is the best stock based rom I've tried. (No disrespect meant to other devs working on any type of rom!)

Cleanrom xe supported multiple device variants. Just thought I would inquire? I am on d801 and i loved CR as well. Thanks

Looking at the LG Framework I can see where Scott was pulling his hair out trying to get a common base that would work across multiple devices. I'm going to stick with D800 for now since I can readily test and debug on it.

Going to give it a shot as I love cleanrom but don't want ciq. Is there anyway to put the cleanrom se version of the quick remote as the international doesn't work for me. ?

Noticed when making a call the signal strength drops significant. I believe this issue also existed in the xe rom.
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I'm only getting one bar of signal since I booted the ROM. I haven't tried phone calls.
Edit: I just ran Network Signal Info and I actually have close to full signal. So the "low signal" is just a display issue. I wonder if it can be fixed by installing a status bar mod from one of the other threads...

Awesome. Anyway you can set me up with the APK for the battery manager app?

The Battery Manager and Data Manager apps are kept in LGSettings.apk which is around 103mb.

I am not receiving attachments from within stock messaging or from the Hangouts app.
sorry, just checked XE thread this is a known issue on this framework. i will try other app.

Awesome, is good to see someone continuing with the stock ROM. Keep going with the good work :good:
I'm still using the ClearRom XE so far is good, but something I noticed is when for example you are in facebook and play some video from there the screen gets very deem, is like if you dawn all the brightness of the screen and when the video ends the screen gets back to normal. maybe you can fix that

Currently using XE, hopefully a D803 version comes soon.

I recently noticed that I have a D802 10b Firmware after flashing ClearRomXE. And now it seems that is a 802 10c firmware (new one)

I have no access to my home PC, I grabbed a few USB drives and a laptop but If we lose internet Idk how much work I'll be able to apply to this thread today. I have actually 3 new releases headed our way. I'm going to be releasing 2 themes and StatusBar Tweaks(For Cm9 & Cm10 Based Roms). The themes are self explaining. The "Status Tweaker" is my own creation, it will give you options such as Animated Scroll Down Backgrounds, Scrolling Notification, transparency tweaks 25%-50%-75%-Normal, I've setup some different staus Icons you can use also. These are changed by placing of different systemui.apks and frameworks. Basically you place the ones you want in the zip using a file manager and then flash. Right now getting my family to a safe place comes first, but as soon as that's taken care of bill have nothing else to do but get those files uploaded. Sorry and thank you for your patience. Hopefully this storm doesn't hit us as hard as Irene did. Well wish us luck and I'll be back as soon as possible

Boost 4.2.2 issues

I have been trying to get a zip file from moddingmy mind to work on boost HTC one sv with no luck I was able to get it to boot but as his op says has bugs
Noisy phone on my end
No data connection
I'm currently running simonz 4.1.2 Rom, with symlink, and kernel patches
Cwm v 6.0.2.8 is my recovery
After I got the 4.2 Rom to load I tried flashing simonz sicklekernlv20 using adv fastboot the phone took the file but on reboot it stock on HTC white screen
I have noticed old splatterhand has a v3 download of this Rom will it work on boost mobile 4g lte HTC one svs, and if so what do I need to do to make it work.
I am pretty knowledgeable about flashing through cwm, sideload and adb
Any help would be appreciated, and thank you guys for your work

@rickberg
Do not use any ROMs from other devices, there partitions are not the same
When running the 4.2.2 ROM ported by @Modding.MyMind don't flash any other kernel with it.
A 4.1.2 kernel will not with with a 4.2.2 ROM.
@old.splatterhand ROMs are for K2_U and K2_UL only, we(boost) are K2_CL and can only flash K2_CL ROMs.
Is this the information you're looking for?
Ask more if you still need some guidance.

Use the rom from Modding.MyMind to work on, if you want to play with something.
Otherwise, wait for your update.
To know, how to flash a rom is not enough to port GSM to CDMA.
@Old splatter hand I under stand that completely
@Russelvone thank you for the clarification on that so as of right now there is no flashable Rom for boost users correct

Only the 4.2.2 by Modding.MyMind, and 4.1.2 by simonsimons34, but it's just Like stock 4.1.2 on our device,

Start learning how to port. Best answer I can give. It is not easy, and is always guaranteed to have problems until resolved otherwise. There is the apps folder, framework folder, vendor folder, etc which need porting done to. There is apks that need some modifications, there is jar/odex files which need modifications (depending if Rom is odexed or deodexed). There is lib files to port, and in some cases some porting within the boot.img from one Rom to the other based on certain command lines which vary depending on the port. All can be hits and misses. You will get stuck on Phone FC, black screens, splash screens, bootanimation display, and even reboots. Even may get device booted but warnings start popping up all over so they to have to be dealt with. Porting from GSM to CDMA is NEVER easy and usually always results in bugs but in some cases will work like a charm. Just a matter of finding the problems and making the fixes as needed. Not every port is the same. There are many many guides that show how to port but don't see them as guides. Instead see them as merely references or ideas to consider. There is no port guide that is complete and or accurate. They all are hits and misses. So at best they are just references to consider like when you brainstorm on paper with bubbles and then more bubbles branching off of those other bubbles haha. Anyways, try porting and you will better understand the process. Expect to pull your hair, throw your computer, run and scream in public and when successful, join a circus to perform an outrageous but memorable act . Good luck.

Up and running. Only thing i've noticed is that the navbar buttons disappear when camera is up so theres nothing there but a black bar. Pushing where the home button should be works and takes you back to the home screen. This may be by design though. I usually use expanded desktop with pie.
Flashed with PhilZ recovery. Nice ROM. Have the echo bug though. dr87 has the fix for that. Thanks for the ROM.

Flashed in TWRP just 3 hours ago.
My assessment is as follows -
1. No SOD, reboots, or hiccups thus far.
2. Echo bug is present, but is tolerable if you turn the volume down.
3. Just as snappy as stock Kit-Kat
4. Most Gummy features work fine.
5. Best auto-brightness of any Kit-Kat rom currently.
6. Battery life appears great as well
7. Network seems to switch frequently between 3g and HSPA+, but there doesn't seem to be any impact on actual functionality.
All in all - a solid release by the Gummy team. Yet again. I used to use Gummy back in the days of the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 4, it's nice to see that it is still just as high of quality with responsive developers.
Thank you Gummy Rom Team!
This is now my daily driver.

You are assuming this dev speaks to authors of other ROMs on different threads? I would recommend you handle the communication. I know most devs are overwhelmed already with what they know about already. I have found that doing the leg work yourself helps.

Hey all, I've been a long time Samsung user. Started with the S2 to the S3, Note 2, S4, Note 3, and S5. I missed custom kernels from my Thunderbolt days. Since I am new again to HTC... any ideas or opinions would be cool!
I got S-off and permanent root. Now what?
Thanks in advance for opinions and help!

I don't use a custom kernel because I was getting battery drain on my last one and just stuck to stock. If you want to really fiddle with a rom use viper, that's all I've got running and it's fantastic

My wife uses viper. Myself I used it back in the day but not in a long time just don't seem to work as good for me as other's. Viper is good if you don't know how to edit or mod anything you know. Badseed is nice as the whole ROM is inverted big plus for me that is.

I used to run inverted on my S3 all the time because of the battery saving it provided for the amoled display. Since this is a super lcd display, that's a none issue, and I'm trying to run everything white just because I can.
I'm still running stock because it's so quick. On my S3, stock touchwiz was so slow and buggy I had no choice but to install a new rom.
However, there are many more roms available in the international m8 forum correct? Is there a way to tell if they'll work with our phone? Or do they have to say it's specifically compatible with the Verizon variant? The last thing I want to do is flash something and have it missing the CDMA band needed to get data. Also would super CID basically allow flashing of any rom we wanted.

They'll say if they work for Verizon or not. SuperCID would allow you to flash any carrier Rom, but I doubt you would get data or anything, maybe 1x...that's more for like if you want to take your phone to t-mobile then you would be able to flash a tmobile Rom and be good to go (whether you get LTE or not on tmobile is a diff story).

Yup, stock rooted. Love it. I don't usually flash too often anyway. Just want something as stable and bug free as possible. So I'm thinking I'll probably end up running bonestock or cleanrom. I'm also extremely intrigued by the gpe rom.
I'll start flashing soon, but I generally don't like flashing too often.

Are you on the old firmware or radios still? (Which I really hope you say yes as if so you can help out a lot of people by doing me a favor)?.....or have you updated to the new firmware 1.55.....myself I hate pretty much all google apps besides chrome an I don't really care for that just my backup browser so the gpe ROM is very well put together by @digitalhigh . I have flashed it just to see how it ran but google everything an no blinkfeed is a total bust for me..

Plus I ran bonestock for a while at 1st. I have tried all Roms an that is the best stock ROM he has lots of things enabled VZW hides. Only thing he is missing is eps mode but that is so easy to add via XML ...all you need to do its add another line for a quick setting tile like the rest of them an use value 30. Reboot an then your bone stock will have everything you need plus on the house teathering.

Nope, I don't have the original firmware.
I think my sister also updated hers.
Andy has done fantastic work on his roms since his S3 days. He does a great job adding in hidden features and keeping the rom as stock as possible. Really hope he continues developing for this device.

No a lot of people r asking in my firmware/radios thread I started are asking for old radios cause they were stronger for them. With a pull from a phone that still has this we can make a flashable old radios. An some else wants the old firmware to create another safety net for everyone.

Cleanrom 3.0 vs 4.0

Still running the stock 4.4.4 Rom that is rooted. I am s-off already. Finally going to pull the trigger and upgrade my firmware tomorrow and switch roms. I am pretty firmly decided on Cleanrom but wondering if there are any perks of one version over the other? Obviously 4.4.4 vs 5.0.1, but meant more day to day usage. Like battery life, usability, etc.

OK, so I went with 4.0 and for the most part it has been flawless. The only issue I am having is occasionally when in hangouts and I try to bring up the keyboard it exits the conversation and goes back to the selection pane. A hot restart fixes it, but was wondering if there was a permanent solution. I had taken the webview update so uninstalled and dirty flashed 4.0 that in case it was the cause.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app
The webview thing shouldn't be a problem anymore. It's been fixed. As far as cleanrom 3.0 vs 4.0 goes, I'm seriously considering going back to 3.0. Lollipop is a turd in my opinion. I've been on it since before Cleanrom 4 was released. I've run stock lollipop, Cleanrom and Adrenaline. Since I ran stock for a while and it had the same problems, I know it's not due to the roms. My biggest issues with lollipop is the battery use and handoff issues from 3G to 4G and vise versa. I can live with the battery thing but I've about reached the end of my rope with the handoff issues. I'm constantly having to toggle airplane mode to get data to work. It shows it's connected but any app that uses data will complain about no data connection. Yet, messaging continues to work fine. I had this issue every once in a great while on kit kat but the times were few and far between. Like once a week or once in 2 weeks instead of a dozen or more times a day on lollipop. It gets old. Too late for you now though. Run it a while and see what you think. Maybe you won't have that problem or the battery draining issues. Time will tell.
---------- Post added at 01:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:02 PM ----------
I probably should add that I've never had the keyboard issue. I've seen others that have (not sure if it was on this rom though). Since I don't see it, I would have to assume it's some app or setting or some such thing that I don't have. I'm not using the stock keyboard. I use Swiftkey but I don't know if that would make a difference or not.
Thanks for the reply. Using the stock keyboard so far. Never really liked Swype but might give it another try.
BTW, I thought I had read going back to 3.0 was okay even though it's KitKat. That not the case?

I've tried both Cleanrom 3.0 and 4.0 as daily drivers.
Lollipop is not at all battery-friendly.
Have my M8 back on 3.0 setup the way I like and battery life is GREAT again.
I can easily live without "new and improved" thanks to scrosler's great rom work on 3.0....
Be sure to save an xlnt nandroid in case you want to go back to it after trying Lollipop.
I have a nandroid of the stock rooted rom. Can I just restore that and boot it up? Then go back into recovery and flash 3.0? Or do I need to change hboot and run an ruu in order to go back?

You could put in the newest firmware: VZWm8Lfirmware.zip, then put in the newest TWRP for M8, then install Cleanrom 3.
Thanks. I actually updated the firmware, then ran that for a few days. Then took a nandroid, did a factory reset and then installed 4.0. So I should be able to just woke it again and restore?

Yes, that ought to work. After a stop at Play Store to update a bunch of things, it should be what you had before.
Thanks. I thought I had seen somewhere that if you wanted to go back you had to flash the older ruu then go to a rom. Good to know.
Might try a clean flash of 4.0 first and then freeze webview to test. ROM was fine for the first week so not sure if an update caused the issue.

I tried all the lollipop roms and I am back on 4.4.4. I think lollipop roms suffer from the start. The stock software base has been known for overheating and memory leaks. I have seen allot of developers try to just fix the base. Do their best and just find no reason to work on it.
