Easy way to s-off!!! - HTC One S

Hi mates,
i succesfuly made my international one s s4 supercid and s-off with facepalm. after that i flashed maximushd and that worked flowlesly. great rom! don´t know what was in my mind to command in fastboot "fastboot write secureflag 3". there my problems begun. i searched erverywhere with no solution to get it back s-off. you can´t downgrade hboot 2.16 with ruu. method getting it supercid, a requirement for facepalm, didn´t worked too. so i decided to sent it in to a repair center to fix my problem. my wife asked me to s-off her htc one. i searched in the one forum and found rumrunners s-off. on their website i noticed they are supporting a lot of htc devices, including my one s. i gave it a shot and boom! i´m s-off again!
it´s a universal tool. download the file, extract it and run the soju.exe. follow instructions and you will be s-off!
link to rumrunner.us:
http://rumrunner.us/
all credits to them!!!! thank you guys!!!
a Little how to:
make sure all your drivers are installed.
1. adb: in settings-> development-> usb debugging must be checked! when you connect your device there must be a notification "usb debugging" connected.
2. boot into bootloader, fastboot is highlighted blue. press power butten. now you have "fastboot" red highlighted. connect phone and must turn into red "fastboot usb".
3. htc sync manager must be uninstalled.
4. your device must be rootet.
5. click the link above and read carefully the requirements. better two times!
6. download universal file rumrunner_HTC_0.5.0.zip. and extract it anywhere.
7. reboot phone and pc.
8. go to settings-> power-> disable fastboot. also disable Display sleep.
9. disable any anti virus software and make sure you are connected to the internet with your pc.
10. connect phone to pc, go to settings-> development and uncheck usb debugging than check it again to make sure the pc recognized your device.
11. run soju.exe

Thanks, this worked for me as well. TMOBUS 3.16.401.8, 2.15 HBoot... facepalm and moonshine both would not work after SEVERAL attempts. Rumrunner worked first try, even in Windows.

Reboot your pc and phone. Plug phone in with debugging enabled, disable and enable it again. Run song.exe.

I got an error saying that i don't have adb drivers or usb debugging enabled..
Usb debugging is enabled and I use Cyanogenmod 10.1.3.
How to install adb drivers to get this working?

Which Rom is on your phone? On their website is a notice that will not work on every custom Rom, also in the tool. I did that with magioRom, because I was on hboot 2.16. Try it with CyanogenMod if your hboot is lower.

It was initially stock on a different menu with the volume bottons inactive, i could only enter hboot, i downloaded a PD98IMG but it wasn't the right version for my hard ware but atleast it got me to the boot loader menu with the volume bottons working.
Check my signature, go to post #7, read the guide. There may be something in there, can't remember.

Apparently not. His bootloader is S-ON and doesn't display 'unlocked' like it would if he used HTCdev. I guess he was running fully stock. Don't know what could be the cause of his problem, but I think flashing an RUU should be enough to fix it, no?

If the file is correctly named PD98IMG.zip, it is located in the root of your sdcard and you get that message, then your sdcard might be corrupted...try using a different one.
Rather than the PD98IMG.zip method, use an RUU exe file (2 links below, whichever works). Connect your phone to PC in bootloader mode, then run the exe and wait till it's fully finished.

He is linking an .exe file. You need to boot in hboot, plug the phone and choose fastboot (you should see fastboot usb in red). From there you run the .exe file and everything should be working fine.
EDIT: Make sure that you install the drivers with the phone unplugged.
Hello glevitan your info helped me execute the file in sashank link, thanks guys but unfortunately it didn't work i got an error on the software wrong model and on the phone wrong RUU... the file i downloaded was "RUU_Ace_Sense" i guess a diffrent version may work as the process it self works fine just the file error if any one could help me with a link to a diff RUU that corresponds to my HTP Inspire 4G (at&t version)

No, jelly bean (only for boost mobile is ics).
You have to look at the Software Number.
For ics you can use Supercid and Facepalm S-off (except boost mobile).
All devices now supported
Boost (k2_cl) cricket (k2_plc_cl) gsm lte(k2_ul) and gsm only (k2_u)
All one Sv users can install this, it only takes five minutes. Boost mobile is still in testing, but it fully works.
Thanks beaups and fuses. Without them this wouldn't be possible at all.

Install custom roms
Hi, is there a change that something can go wrong using this method? Because I have used it after htc dev-unlock an rooting, and have S-off, but my phone doesn't install a custom rom. I understand that you have to be S-off to be able to install custom roms, right?

If you see, that you are S-Off, you should be S-Off, i think.
And you don't need to be S-Off to flash custom Roms, you also can flash with S-On, but you need to flash boot.img with fastboot then.
As i have seen your phone info, you have hboot 2, that means you had already jb installed. So why do you want to use the stock, odexed rom instead?

I want that because my phone acts weird. It doesn't remember whether I want to use my launcher or Sense, if I put a widget on my homescreen the next day there's a grey area where the widget was, etc. So I thought if I can install a stable rom that might be over.

It doesn't change unlocking or S-Off. It deletes all user data, all you brought to your phone (not external sd, internal sd i'm not sure), but not things in system.
It sets the software itself to the point where the phone came to you.
Worked perfect!! Nice job.

Make sure you have removed HTC sync from you computer. Also, make sure USB debugging is enabled in developer settings on your phone.
If you have HTC sync, make sure that you reboot the pc and the phone so that everything is reset and the files are completely removed from the pc.
Unzip the Moonshine zip that you downloaded and place it in a folder. With your phone fully booted, plug in USB and connect to pc. Click on the distiller and follow the prompts. Also, make sure you have a good charge on your phone because it'll take it between 5 and 10 minutes.
Also, if you are running a custom kernel, you will need to reinstall it after you have finished with Moonshine.
Edit: disable anti-virus and run the distiller as administrator.
Hope this helps.

Hi.
Quick question, I'm trying to help someone back in France with this.
If you're on JB (official OTA update) and do this procedure, will you :
- keep your data as they were just before ?
- keep your rom as it was before (ie : will you be able to install the next OTA updates without any trouble) ?
In one word : does this process just does S-OFF or does it change anything else ?
Thanks a lot !

Hi This is my third Post in XDA.
is my tutorial for those like me that had many problem and read enough tutorials all a failure to make the htc one s S4 s-Off and more with this version 3.14.531. 17RD I did with Moonshine guarantee them that if they do such as this will have successes I hope to serve you very helpful!
I take NO responsibility of anything is of my authorship I did under my results, if they do the steps well will have no problems.
To begin!
This is my mobile and this is the requirement

Note before you start:
first I had this version 3.14.531.17RD lower this version 3.14.531.11
As:
Download this official RUU from here
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownload.php?file=Ville/RUU_Ville_U_JB_45_S_TMOUS_3.14.531.11_Radio_1.13.50.05.31_10.30.50.08L_release_309489_signed_ICS_2.exe
Then I closed the bootloader (bootloader) wrote: fastboot oem lock then right click on my downloaded RUU run as administrator I followed the step and ready.
But first of all: this was my mistake, I had installed htc sync uninstall you make the process of with moonshine and runrunner soff again and again and always the same problem, look
Moonshine
Runrunner
As you can see in the pictures above were more 40 min and nothing just bla bla bla as runrunner left me this error, knowing I had that first make the soff to superCID the problem was the HTC sync no matter if uninstall you the is waste that was my mistake until I decided to format my pc from scratch.
VERY IMPORTANT
If you have not installed the HTC SYNC manager pass to step 2
Step 1: Download and install Your Uninstaller! Pro 7.5.2013.02 DC 13.11.2013 from here
http://www.vdownload.us/programs/18603-your-uninstaller-pro-v75201302-dc-13112013.html
Delete Full HTC SYNC Manager
Step 2: install SDK from here (If you have it installed just upgrade to most recent)
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#download
Step 3: install Java from here (If you already have it installed, go to step 5)
http://java.com/es/
Step 4: install only the driver for HTC (NOT HTC SYNC) from here (be sure to have it)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217396
Step 5: Once updated SDk enters: sdk/platform-tools: / opened my window command with shift + right click and wrote: fastboot getvar all then the enter key, so they can see the info of my HTC One s tmobile S4
Step 6: Download Moonshine from here
http://moonshine.io/
(the file name is moonshine_ville_3.14.531.11.zip-20.0mb) is for the main of your mobile version 3.14.531.11 once downloaded extracted it copied the 5 files as shown in the picture into the folder: sdk/platform-tools
Step 7:in the mobile remove the selection of Fast boot, enable USB debugging, and remove the safety (Nothing pattern, PIN).
Step 8: connect the cable in the mobile USB make sure this synchronized, write adb devices if shown the serious beginning with HT... Already this synchronized
Step 9: double click on the executable distiller.exe let you see in the photo, this process has a duration close 5 minutes and restarts from 4 to 5 times, wait until you finish see photo
I did this with the stock recovery, nothing TWRP or CWM see photo
Once finished restart several times this is the result!
Step 10: super cid already applied from here

My question how in the end did you get rid of the moonshine S-Off at the top and got the "TAMPERED.....LOCKED" back??

It relocked your bootloader, just unlock it using htcdev.com, only way to get rid of the moonshine writing is to flash a different hboot.

That's what I was thinking so I tried to unlock the bootloader with the unlock bin file that I got from htcdev.com when I first originally unlocked and rooted my phone but it failed. Do I need to do the htcdev.com process again and attain another unlock bin file?
And as for the hboot, is there a major difference between 2.15 and 2.16??

Yes get New bin file.
2.16 pros
1.sd is now 12gb
2.can run newest sense software
Cons
1.cant mount SD while in recovery
2.cant run roms made for 2.15
Basically if your a sense guy upgrade to 2.16 if you find yourself using cm mostly best to stay on 2.15. There are a few cm builds that are for 2.16 but most use 2.15.
But we're way off topic so pm if you have more questions about 2.16 or upgrading.

Greetings, I want to update my HTC ONE X AT & T with the RUU 3.18 because when I install some ROMs as CleanROM, KickDroidXL, VIPER XL, the phone turns itself off and back on I have to go back to, even installing the kernel Beastmod continues switching off only

to install the RUU, only run with the phone connected and you? I have already installed the HTCSync...
I also want to update because my phone sometimes gets no signal and I have to put it in airplane mode and then to remove the airplane mode if you hold the cue!!!
Sorry for my bad English
You actually need the 2.15 firmware to stop your problems, but it's a good idea to run the RUU first.
To run the RUU you just connect the phone in fastboot mode and run the RUU program in Windows. Uninstall HTC Sync Manger (leave drivers installed) because it can interfere. Make sure no other programs are running and make sure screen saver/hibernation is turned off. Once the RUU is completed you need to flash the 2.15 firmware package too. You'll find that in Turge's stock Sense 5 ROM thread.

Will try Thank install the RUU, I was just a little iffy because I can read comments from people who have run the RUU and the phone gives them some kind of mistake and not finish installing, with my current phone settings I can run the RUU safe ?
I was thinking of installing the RUU 3.18 as my phone is AT & T (RUU_EVITA_UL_JB_45_S_Cingular_US_3.18.502.6_Radio_0.24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34_release_signed_With_Partial)
Sorry for my bad English again
Hey Guys, I too have downloaded the RUU specified above, and I am curious if it will work as well.
I'm in the same boat as OP,
Difference is I'm: HBOOT-1.09.0000
I'm very nervous as the last time I ran a RUU file I was S-OFF and SuperCID and managed to hard brick my phone.
Now I'm S-OFF and SuperCID so I'm guessing I can do this? Thanks in advance guys, really appreciate your time, hope the OP gets his problem sorted before I - sorry for the hijack.
EDIT: Do I need to have the HTC Sync Manager installed? I do not have it installed currently and I downloaded and installed drivers located here:

Thanks so much for your prompt reply, sir I really appreciate it I hope the OP also got an answer they were looking for. Again (Apologies for Thread Hijack)
Are the drivers here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426 good enough or should I install HTC Sync before bootloader and RUU install?

You're good to go. The people who bricked their phone hadn't done their research, they probably had s-on.
S-on + SuperCID + jb RUU = brick.
You have s-off so you're fine.
Sent from my Evita.
run the RUU has been a Success in my Evita, truly thank him for it : D timmaaa now proceed to update to firmware 2.15 : Bueno:
add that to turn on the phone immediately had taken the signal, something that had not to
Results will comment

HTC one x plus s-on to s-off firewater problem!

Hello guyz, i have problem on my htc one x plus.
I installed cm11 nightly for my on my x plus from here:
http://get.cm/get/qG0
After that my imei has gone blank along with the baseband version.
I did a bit of research and found that by using ruu, u can get the imei back.
So for that i needed turn my s-on to s-off by the foll commands:
adb reboot
if i am not mistaken, while the phone is rebooting i am supposed to put the 2nd command:
adb wait-for-device push firewater /data/local/tmp
The problem here that I think is the phone reboots so fast that i guess the command fails to execute and i get an error saying :
error protocol fault (no status)
So, how to turn off fastboot or quickboot in cm11? There is absolutely no option in the phone. I tried battery settings, power settings, everything!
is there a way to disable fastboot/quickboot in bootloader mode?
plz help!

I don't think you need to be S-on to run a RUU. At least back in my HTC evo 4g LTE days, you didn't. Try running the RUU as S-off.

Flash a stock based ROM and try the RUU again. S-on or off shouldn't matter.

That should work, yes. However, just flashing a stock ROM may fix it as well.

I found a few, here's one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004928
Also, just search through the development here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-x2/development
And I believe this is the problem mentioned in your first post. S-off tool will only work on stock based ROM.

thanks for the links!
from the first link,i found a european stock rom. I stay in india, so shud i flash the european one?
There is no stock rom for asia !
Also, is there any way to disable fastboot/quickboot from the bootloader? coz if that's possible,it would solve everything!

I'm not sure, or willing to say, yes to that. I don't suppose you made a backup of stock before flashing custom, did you? This is why you always make a backup of stock.
