Hi guys,
First of all I apologize if this has already been asked or is not allowed.
Anyhow, do you any of you know where I can get a recovery (older twrp) flashable zip file of the latest TWRP?? Goo Manager won't download and my phone just doesn't work with Odin anymore, I can't even plug it in to a PC and have it detect as a USB device. So I'm stuck with uploading/downloading files to my phone to Airdroid and just flashing through TWRP.
Thanks!

Download the img off the TWRP site and use an app such as Flashify or EZ Recovery to find the img on your phone and flash. Start here and search for our device.

I've searched and Googled... I can't find this at all. How do I update my CWM?? I'm on 6.0.2.3. I hear there is a 6.0.2.8

If you haven't already, download Rom Manager from the play store here.
Open the app, and go to the Recovery Setup section and you can update it from there.
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38962551
Also IDF you want to try twrp you can get goo app and select menu then update recovery.

Can anyone please provide me with the latest s3 Verizon CWM Touch 6.0.2.8 odin flashable tar file?
Thanks in advance!
I made tar.md5's here of 6.0.2.8 for you guys of both touch and regular, you can get them here
http://invisiblek.org/sch-i535/recoveries/
I'm going to recommend that you DO NOT use the dd method posted above. Its dangerous. If you were to type the wrong partition, you could very easily brick your device.
If you want to use an img, use heimdall to flash it, otherwise create a tar/tar.md5 and flash it with odin
Or use rom manager
Or....find some other way....dd is dangerous http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dd_(Unix)

Definitely the easiest method! Just did it two days ago using this method
Its free for the non touch version, or like $1 or $2 for the touch version, well worth it!

I have always used the dd method to flash recoverys to my phone, but I always make sure everything is typed correctly in terminal emulator before I press enter. With this new information I will no longer use dd commands for anything.
Thanks invisiblek for the info.

I just updated via ROM Manager to Clockwordmod 6.0.2.9 and once I booted into recovery and did a backup, I was unable to reboot the system. I was able to reboot the phone via power + home button power on and installed Clockworkmod Touch 6.0.2.9. I also had the same problem with Clockworkmod touch where it wouldn't reboot the phone.

I had the same problem. Neither version of 6.0.2.9 CWM works. I had to restore back.

how?
For those getting stuck in recovery loop...
Reboot in odin (power+volumedown+home) and select cancel.
Tokedup found this link for previous versions...use ez recovery to flash img files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096735
is this a known issue with the latest CWM? i ran into the recovery loop, too.
Using EZ Recovery and those recovery img files at that link work for me to get an older recovery installed. Also verified that I can successfully reboot the phone from recovery again.

Version 6.0.2.9 for our phone is bad. Use an earlier version.
ROM manager says 6.0.2.8 is the newest version our phone supports

I downloaded 6.0.2.8 tar md5 from rootzwiki and used Odin to go back. ROM manager says there is a 6.0.3.0 now but I'm waiting on that until I hear that its good.

You can use the EZ Recovery app https://play.google.com/store/apps...oogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=ez+recovery and then use the custom option to browse for your downloaded recovery image. Let me know if you still have questions.

Or just pick up the zip file and flash it via your current custom recovery. I go between CWM and TWRP all the time.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I didn't even know there were apps on the market to do this. I ended up going with Flashify and it worked perfectly!

Use 2.8.1.0
Fastboot.
Fastboot with a PC, flashify directly on device, zip file in recovery, terminal emulator+IMG file...pick one.
#stayparanoid
You can also use the TWRP app from the Play Store, which is probably the easiest way.
So how can i flash my updated version? I downloaded the version on my phone its in my downloads. I boot into recovery go to flash and it does not recognize the img.

Why don't you just boot into a recovery and flash SuperSU. I'd recommend twrp
fastboot boot twrp.img
Then flash SuperSU in it.
It won't install twrp on you device

I need to perform root "on the fly" .Without PC

mind pulling me through the process... I got stock 5.1 with adb loaded & ready.

If you don't have TWRP installed, the apk is on Google Play here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
Or, if you do have TWRP, DL the zip on your phone from here and do as @jd1639 suggested.

Maybe so.
I have edited the link from being direct to taking you the the CF-Root download page.
People, this is my last ditch effort posting here butI am now at a loss.
I have a Tab 2 10.1 P5110 and have followed a number of guides with no sucess. I have tried to install both TWRP AND CWM but the recovery already installed on the tablet chucks error messages but no explanations that are helpful. Most detailed error message I have is "Failed signature verification."
It appears I can Boot to ODIN and using Odin 3.09 send the tar file OK but when rebooting tablet no recovery has installed. Anothe rheadache is the downloads named GT-P5110_CWM are all seen as virus infected.
Any help would be appreciated here..
Thank you
Well, you could try these methods:
a.) Install TWRP using an app. This requires you to be rooted. First, install the twrp app through the play store. Then select install twrp and choose your model number and twrp version. Grant root access and install. After that, it will ask you to boot to recovery. Press ok. Congrats, you have twrp.
b.) Install through odin. Download Odin, and the tar file of twrp. Uncheck auto reboot in odin. Then flash the twrp tar in odin. After that, reboot to recovery (manually. If you dont, stock recovery will over write twrp. Booting to recovery prevents that and makes twrp permanent)
Press thanks if I helped
Also, the reason why it says signature verification failed is that stock recovery will only allow samsung signed files to install. Twrp and cwm? Out of the question
Cheers

Thank you for your reply. Using your method a, I managed to install twrp 3.0.2.6. I attempted to flash blismallow custom ROM but this failed immediately with the message "updater process ended with error 7". I then tried CM12 but same problem. After more reading I'm thinking could this be because my TWRP version is the new common version and the ROMS I am trying to flash are too old ? Thank you again

Good to know its working for you. Also if you take a look at andi34.github.io 's twrp section, it says it cant flash roms made prior to 22/03/2016.
