After receiving the 4.4.1 update my device subjectively seems like it's a bit louder than it was before. Is there any way to check if the audio was boosted at all?

When playing audio in Play Music with volume less than 50%, does it still sound really hollowish/reverbish?
Sound from the speaker sounds better imo... bbm notifications sound is a lot cleaner
Edit... actually I'm not too sure now, still buzzes
Line audio is unchanged. Just tested.

It appears they compressed the ever living crap out of the speaker output.
Dynamic range has gone down significantly. Which means, the loudest sounds are still loud, but the quiet sounds are much louder. Which makes it appear louder than it was before.

I was just browsing around in the Galaxy S forum and stumbled on this post talking about how our phones are out of the box applying a loudness filter of sorts, boosting bass way too much and taking away so much need clarity. I did exactly what was said in the post and WOW is there a difference. Give it a shot.
PS : There is also a cool app that takes you straight into the service menu without having use the dialer code (*#*#197328640#*#*). It is called SamServMode and is on the Android Market.

Thanks for the mode on the service mode app - that will be useful. I tried adding the service mode key press as a contact, but it doesn't work.

So here's a fresh torment for me. My speaker clearly works--it plays game audio and music quite nicely, but the phone simply will not play ringtones or notification sounds. I can hear the music during "Cut the Rope" just fine, but if someone calls, texts or emails, or if a calendar meeting goes off, nothing. Not even vibration. I'm on Majick Wizz R2, running Nova Launcher. Any ideas? Think maybe a "dirty flash" of the ROM over itself might solve the problem, or is there some obscure setting I messed up without knowing it?
Nevermind, fixed. My phone was defaulting into the "Silent" profile on boot, and would default back to it instantly every time I selected a different profile. Solution?

See Waffle, I can do memes too.
This is exactly what happened to my old phone. I bought the new HTC One <3 and gave my HTC Sensation to my gf. The in-ear speaker started acting up only a few weeks after that and she had a really hard time hearing what the other end said during calls.
So I searched E-Bay for a replacement in-ear speaker and found a nice kit of two speakers + the tools needed for a very low price!
Here is how it went:

You can sync 2 bluetooth speakers and play music, both playing the same song on each speaker, like having a right channel and left channel, essentially listening in "stereo!"
Super cool, been wanting the ability to do this since bluetooth speakers came to market, super surprised when the A71 5G, asked if I wanted to do this.
I synced two bluetooth speakers and got a pop-up that asked if I wanted to play them both at the same time. That brought me to a screen named "media," there I could select both speakers and adjust their volume so they'll play at the same time.
Best feature so far of this phone for me!
Check out the screen shots I attached.

This is also useful if you want to watch a movie with a friend while on a plane, and each of you have your own BT headphones.
Hi,
I have recently flashed a custom rom on my OnePlus5T and the audio quality during calls (I tried whatsapp and google duo both audio only and with video) is so bad. I can barely understand what the other person is saying. Even while in call, the audio for apps such as YouTube and other app like Instagram sounds fine. This was not a problem on the default oxygenOS firmware. I have tried looking for a fix but was unable to fine anything. Some said try changing Bluetooth codec which is locked in my developer settings. I have attached a screenshot below. Besides, based on the comments I saw, changing the codec seemed to not do much. I dont want to go back to the default firmware as its on android 10 and the rom I am currently running (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-for-oneplus-5-t-official-2021-08-01.3978357/) is android 11. Any help would be appreciated.
