Guys I don´t know if this has been posted before or its against the rules or something like that but I was wondering if this forums have a small comunity of beta testers to help out small studios developing applications.
My company Wonton Studios is a very small independent mobile app developer mainly focused into IOS and starting into Android. Since we can´t afford to buy several android test devices I thought that maybe some forumers would be able to test our games and provide some feedback. At the beginning of april we will have two games ready for testing in most popular resolutions in phones for the likes of the evo4 and tablets we will be supporting 7" and 10.1" Our goal is to support most popular devices.
Any input in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone is interested please pm me.
Thanx

Yeah, it is crazily terrible if you don't have 3 - 4 testing devices. I am a developer in HK. Users are moaning everyday for force close problems. Then 1 star rating. No one understand it is how hard to cover devices from HTC, Samsung, Sony, LG, etc for small players. This is android market.
We develop app related to gesture before, which is terribly machine dependent. Hope other guys will not fall into the same trap.
Me and my g2 can help

Isn't it against the forum rules, to let the community test things out and find all the bugs?
Just to find the tested app/game on the market for some $$?

Exactly, only developers understand the hassle my friend We will be using for now only tap controls and accelerometer in this two games until we test further on Android, we have all cover on IOS but Android is another beast simply because how un-standarize it is!! wich is a headache if you want to cover all devices.
I believe getting a group of beta testers is the way to go and earn valuable feedback while having fun, so thanx a lot everyone again Please pm me telling me your devices.
thanx again

I don´t get what you mean beta tester applies to products that has not been released yet so of course you can´t charge $$ for them.
Beta testers report bugs that´s one thing, correcting them is the sole pourpose of the developer.
Sign me up if you need a tester i've got an evo and am going to get a Xoom

I'm wondering if our community would be willing and trustworthy enough to put forth a committee that would accept and seek donations for further development for phone and the Android community as a whole.
A couple things off the top of my head:
- stable 4.0 ROM
- modded mount points for mnt/sdcard and mnt/external_sdcard
- modded shortcuts for off screen buttons (volume + = skip song, power = take photo in camera mode)
The committee would take the communities advice and put forth bounties for certain Dev work/features. This would not only speed our phones development but if executed correctly could help our community grow. It would have to be decided if we would stay or commit to xda exclusively, work among many threads, or a combination of the two and produce our own website. Obviously this would mainly be about budgeting and being responsible.
Feel free to improvise on this idea.
Feel free to PM me if you can be of help - such as development skills, internet programming, spare phone etc.,
what you are explaining is a development team. they exist. but will include the features they want or ask for suggestions if they choose to do so.
learn how to develop. (tons of guides on xda, use search). talk to other developers, get to be friends with them, and work together on something... and bam!, you got what you wanted.
No, you didn't grasp what I meant. The point of this group would to be seek as
Many donations from the community together, to bring Dev groups together, or to make one universal group.
I think the main problem with this phone is the lack of support from Samsung. Miss having a LG now...
On a side note I have been working on developing. Just not sure to continue with java for my apps or get into cooking roms.

Well, we have already donated two phones to devs and I don't think I would be willing at this point to donate anymore. Especially since, as mentioned, several people are already joining forces to start learning to develop. I really don't think donations are necessary as most devs donate their time to begin with.
Samsung support seems better than Motorola. At least we have an open bootloader!

I am a software developer but I do know how to make custom ROM's or launchers!! That's why I want to form a team to make this dream real!
so if you can do the following please help out!!
Graphic designer
ROM development
Launcher development

This has already been done for Linux: https://edubuntu.org/
I don't see the point of trying to reproduce the efforts of this project for Android devices. Who is your target audience?
I would like to do it for k-8 graders on tablets like the nexus 7 and nexus 10 would you be interested in helping out? Do you know anything about wrong development? If so if you don't want to help the projects I would really appreciate any hope for is learning how to develop a ROM or a launcher theme thank you for can providing the the link on the Linux distro I did not know this but I would still like to pursue this project if possible
Thanks in advance

I am a long time leecher here at XDA-Developers, but I decided to create an account and see if I could help anybody with anything.
I am a long time programmer, however I didn't really have any Java experience until I get interested in Android a few years back. I am mainly a web developer, and so Java wasn't really anything that I was focused on learning.
What I can do for the XDA community.
Because I am a long time leecher here, I decided that until I actually have something to contribute to the actual Android community, I can contribute what I already have.
I have several servers currently online, so I can host your git/svn projects online in a secure area. Be it private or public. I can also host a website for you and your projects. Most of the time it will cost you nothing, except maybe a domain name if I am broke. (I don't make much at my day job).
I can also host your applications cloud backend, or your apps web interface. Whatever you need me to do. I am a pretty good sysadmin, and already have everything to do it.
I can't thank all of the devs here enough, especially the Galaxy S3 and Note 3 devs considering that they are the devices that I have had recently.
Let me know if you need anything.
Thank you,
Dan
I support you, you're good, I do phone in China, there are many good products in foreign countries want to do some marketing and sales, but a national and regional mobile phone users do not understand. If so, I hope we can have a lot of cooperation. If you are interested you can contact friends

We thank you joining. Also, offering to host files will help a lot of developers on this site.
You say that you're a common user of XDA. What are your other experiences with Android? Rooting? Any ROM experience?
--
I have rooted every device I have owned since my first Android device which was the Motorola droid X using guides from this site. Flashed countless roms to my different devices all downloaded from here.
I am going to start trying to take some roms apart and seeing what I can do with them. Hopefully I can patch a bug or two for some of you guys.
Try and spread the word that I can do what I can do, I don't want to come off as a spammer or anything so I am just going to leave it at this. you can link to this thread, and I will probably put it in my signature.
Thanks for your interest. If you know of any good guides for a beginner rom developer or kernel hacker I would love to read them.

Welcome to XDA! i myself used to be a lurker for XDA, its very generous of you to help others with hosting websites, im sure you will get lots of people accepting your offer. its not very hard to develop apps kernels or custom roms, should only require patience and time (and maybe a little bit more ram, the more ram you have the faster you can build a rom ) hope to see you on the battlefield! enjoy your stay at new vegas!
Welcome
Welcome to XDA! Am also follower of this site... Now registered new bee

I have recently come into a couple of domains in a trade. The are androidery.com and myandroidreview.com.
I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing anything with these domains.
Possibly a popular developer or developers that need a place to host their roms and source control servers. Whatever it may be, let me know.
If you have other ideas for websites you can post here or PM me and I will try to help you out.
Thanks,
Daniel

OLD newbie..
I too, myself, have been leeching here since I joined XDA a few months back, and still in the process of learning android development.
I'm more in to embedded systems' programming and development, but lately android interests me, and just now decided to get active.
:victory: Welcome to XDA mates!
Welcome. I am new as well
Hello! I'm still new at here too! I hope i can make some contribution in XDA
Folks,
for those who may or may not know, my name is sooti, i've been a dev here building Android since 2012. I've build roms for galaxy s1, s2, s5, LG G3, Nexus 10 and more. In all of the device communities I've worked in, the majority of devs were nice, caring and were open to sharing the knowledge and helping out if needed, and I was always willing to do the same and have on many occasions. I have never hidden my work and have always immediately committed my solutions to github to help others develop faster and help the community grow, but since I got my Xiaomi A1 I've met a whole new brand of developers, who only care about getting credit and glory, have no interest in helping their fellow devs and even if and when they do, they force them to keep the code to themselves as well.
I will not name any names, but I think you can guess who, I am part of a team of devs, TEAM OREO, who have been working on our own to bring a fully working dt to the public and keep it open source, while another group has a fully working open source and is insisting on keeping the device tree to themselves. and while this doesn't violate Android rules per say, it violates the very spirit of AOSP and of XDA more then anything. We may understand companies like Xiaomi, Samsung, LG etc not sharing the rest of their source code due to monetary concerns but here at xda none of us are getting paid for our time, we are all working together to bring great projects to life for free for all to enjoy and modify and build new roms.
It really saddens me to see this and hope this is limited to this device only, although I suspect there may be some other XIaomi devices with the same bad devs.
My team and I will continue to work hard to bring you great roms and 100% open source so that you to can contribute and help this community grow.
We are currently looking for devs to help us get Camera working, which is the only thing missing, please contact me via PM and we will add you to our telegram group.
I hope to see better things in the future,
viva open source!
Sooti,
XDA developer and android enthusiast
We are also looking for testers. If you are interested, please ping me on Telegram. Make sure you know basic stuffs like taking logcat n all ?.
Regards,
#TEAMOREO
Thanks for all the work you have done for the community. I'm proud of the work TEAM OREO is bringing for the Mi A1 community and as a contributor to open source myself, I wish every other developer for the device would follow suit. I know this is just the beginning of the development phase of the device but I'm sure that other developers that will work on the phone will probably see your post and agree wholeheartedly. As a community, we must work together. There's no doubt that some people want all the praise and thanks from everyone. That's not how open source works. We aim to provide enhancements to our devices that the manufacturers are not able to give. And helping provide open trees for all is key.
I'm not giving up on the community. But I really want it to flourish. Thanks for all of your help in making this device one of the best I've ever owned.

Yes I agree truly
TeamOreo will sure make bugless ROM soon
I have never seen such developers in my life who worked at late night to fix bugs @sooti @kunalshah @pranavbedre these guys worked very hard to bring initial Oreo
Hope this team gonna rock one day
Keep going and let's hope there's a valid reason behind for not releasing DT as of now.Looking forward for more ROMs TeamOreo!
@sooti
You and team oreo are here, so it's not so bad!

However, i have cleaned the thread and if this thread goes the way i expect i will close it for good.

You guys have no rights to ask for the source when you won't contribute anything to the source. All you guys are going to do is use it for other ROMs which will end up having the same bugs as the current LOS builds. So here's my two cents, wait till everything is stable, SELinux enforcing and then the source will be available to the public as Abhishek has said.

Give them some respect dude...they aren't some amateurs trying to copy form some elses work they have already published their tree and where is tree of los15.1 ?
All other roms have their trees published which helps other developers to fix the bugs and help the rom become stable.but if every one wants to keep the glory and credit for themselves the community will get worser and worser

Your ok, I was actually talking to the guys before you
I came over from the axon 7 forums about a week ago. i have been on the boards and dealing with android since the days of the logitech review {honeycomb i believe}. my take on the maturity here contravenes the gungho nature I have generally observed on this message board. it reminds me of what I imagine a 50 cent water army would act like when not in the office. i normally just sit in the back and observe read and learn as I go but since this is turning into group conflict it is my place to speak up. Sooti, guys I am with you in seeing the same sad state of affaira. this is definately not how civilization is built. but worse case scenario if spoilers at the table opt for self-interest over interest of the community, thereby causing entropy and disintigration, you will be able to find me over on the cyrillic android board with base in .ru they have good comraderie generally and thats across device forums as far as I can observe.
Thanks for bringing that up front straight. I came over as a user from Galaxy S devices in the hope that the MI A1 would flourish on a free and open (source) community spirit. Unfortunately things are even worse here. I don't have the time to contribute as a developer but I'd like you guys to know that I'm very thankful for your team's openess and your effort to bring true open source to this device and not let personal intrests and politics get in the way.

Hey I've known @abhishek987 from Redmi Note 3 forums and he's contributed greatly to LOS for the device and developed one of the most stable ROM(Ressurection Remix) on RN3.
So give him some time, like said earlier he's holding it until the bugs are ironed out. So many ROM threads already created with the same bugs, what's the point.
He's working hard on our device and not asking for any money. Give him space
