[Q] How to save the system changes? - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! I have a question! I have Droid Maxx, Droid Mini? Droid Ultra and I want to use in CDMA networks my operator, but without the use of RUIM card as still use GSM, for this I want to flash settings on my CDMA operator. I change using SQLite Editor line subscription_mode = 0 to 1 in com.android.providers / settings / global
But after rebooting subscription_mode value returns to 0 and then I can not do anything.
Please show me the way how to make that value subscription_mode not reset to 0, and 1 left on.

I have no idea about the settings you are attempting to modify, but my guess about values not sticking would be - you need write protection off. How to get write protection off, that's another question answer to which depends on a few variables - your current version, assembly date, update history. You need to obtain root, if possible, which would allow you to write to system and modify the setting you need.

Moto Q9h / AT&T / VPN Lockout

AT&T has disabled (hidden) VPN capability on their
Motorola Q9h. How nice. It is magically re-enabled when
you purchase their nice expensive "enterprise data plan."
This is somehow magically done over the air but I am certain
it is a registry item. Anyone aware of how to make the VPN
config re-appear on this device, is it indeed simply a
registry setting and if so where/what? Any help appreciated,
thanks!

I tried this and it didn't work. Does that entry even have anything to do with the VPN?

Enclose all the reg hack for Q9H for your reference
The Q9h has a file size limit (307.2 KB) on ringtones that is embedded in the registry of the operating system (Windows Mobile 6). That is what is causing the problem for people of this forum wanting to use MP3s and other relatively large sound files.
1) Get a good registry editor (I recommend Resco Explorer's "Resco Registry" tool. Then use it to change the file size limit, found in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Sounds/. When you find the File Size Limit line at the end, click on it and replace the "307200" limit with whatever (reasonable) # you want. Click Done and you're good to go.
2) Now you have to transfer your sound file from your laptop/desktop to your Q9h. Go ahead and Synchronize your Q9h. Once it finishes synchronizing, find your sound file on your laptop and copy it. Now click on the Explore option on your synchronize window. Go to My Device/Application Data/Sounds/ and paste your sound file. Also paste it into My Documents/My Ringtone.
3) Lastly, you need to change the Sounds settings on your Q9h to use your sound file for whichever events (phone, email, IM) you want. Go to Start...System Tools...Settings...Sounds and scroll through each event list until you find your desired sound.
Enable Network Selection Mode:
HKEY Current User\ControlPanel\PhoneNetSelMode\
Set value "option" from 0 to 1
Restart your device.
Enable band selection:
By doing this you can pick automatic/North America 3G/GSM W850/W1900(3G) 850/1900(GSM) 900/1800 (GSM)
1. Go to Home Screen
2. Type *#1546792*# and then send
3. You will see new screen that indicates that Band
Selection was enabled
4. Now you can go to Settings/Phone/Network/Band
Selection
Enabling Search Frequency:
This hack will allow you to choose the speed at which your phone updates the signal strength icon. Please bear in mind that continuous will have a significant impact on your battery life. The default setting is Medium.
[HKLM\Software\Motorola\SearchFreq] Change the Enable DWord string to 1. Done and done.
Tether With ICS:
1. Navigate to HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings
2. In here will be a value named "ForceCellConnection"
3. Change "ATT ICS" to "" (make it blank) and reboot your device.
ICS will now give you the option to choose either ATT ICS or MEdia Net. ATT ICS will not work without a tethering plan on your wireless account because of the fact that its set up to connect to a secure WAP network, but MEdia Net will work as long as you have the signal and the basic pay-as-you-go feature (definitely not recommended).
ATT ICS uses "isp.cingular" (Private IP address assigned) whereas MEdia Net uses "wap.cingular" (general internet).
Enable Editing of ATT ICS and Media Net settings:
1. Navigate to HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4...}\Connections
2. There will be 2 keys in here. One for ATT ICS and MEdia Net. In those keys there will be a value of ReadOnly
3. Change "ReadOnly" from 1 to 0
4. Restart your device.
5. Upon restart, you may now delete or change the default information.
To restore the "Music" key launching Windows Media Player:
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
Change the APP2_path key to read: "\windows\wmplayer.exe"
Restart your device.
Enable editing of your Proxy:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4 C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\Cingular WAP
Change "ReadOnly" from 1 to 0, and restart your device Upon restart, you may now delete or change the proxy information.
Change ATT MMS Settings:
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Motorola\MMS\Profiles\ AT&T MMS
Change the value of "Lock" from 1 to 0. Restart your device.
hey, thanks a lot for this thread!!! very helpfull... with some registry tweaks I was able to unlock this nasty AT&T connections that were preventing my moto q9h to connect properly. I unlocked them and then I erase them. Now everything is working fine.

[Q] How to find SPC code?

How to find SPC code?
I logged into hiden menu and the Global told me to enter it.
What is it??
Plz tell me what hidden menu you loged in ?
i know what it is,
open the dialer , and type ##7764726
then the phone will request you to input the spc code, but i didnt get what it is.
i googled and got that the default code should be 000000, but not working for me! how can i find it out
Switch to CDMA mode and code will 'become' 000000
For GSM/UMTS mode - code is not that one (unknown).

Interesting. Let me try it out.
I wonder if it will stil work provided that I am using GSM network.
I just tried it.
YOu can access the hidden menu by setting the network to Global or CDMA
Dial "##7764726"
Then enter 000000 as the SPC Code
The hidden menu is a little different than what we see on the net. It seems that the Droid 2 Global additional settings.
I went to choice 06 (Test Mode) and kept pressing next until it came to "Field Test Screen" and changed the service option from the default EVRC to EVRC-B which is suggested on the net for better call quality.
However, I wonder if this does any improvement for GSM users. To be able to access the hidden menu using the SPC Code 000000 I had to change the network to Global or CDMA. I am unable to use the same SPC code when the network is set to GSM.
I only wonder if GSM users need to set to something other than EVRC-B for better sound quality and also stronger network signal.
Anyway, after setting to EVRC-B I went back and changed the network to GSM/UMTS and the network signal still remains week. NOt sure about sound quality.
some say that the gsm signal is only wrongly showed, do you think so? in fact i can still make phone call with one bar of signal
Not sure what to say.
I also can make calls with one signal strength but the 3G speed varies alot. At times it is super fast and at times it lags.
It has to do something with the signal strength.
Normally Hong Kong has very good singal strength becuse Hong Kong is a small place.
We should easily be able to make phone calls with just 1 signal bar strength.
Does anyone know the signal strength for the recently released Milestone 2 in Hong Kong?

Have you tried the Hidden Menu trick?
You are using GSM also right?
Easy to get it
Just follow this :
Method 1 of the following link(only steps 0 to step 4[until click "RDELEM"] ):
you have to choose the "Main -> MA -> CDMA1X -> QSC 60x5 Chipset Base (6055/6075/6085)"
http://www.mobile-files.com/forum/showthread.php/433-Motorola-CDMA-SPCs-For-Dummies?
and instead of element id 0055, use element ID: 2786. This will give to you the Hex value:
SPC HexaDecimal: 3x003x003x003x003x003x
the "x" are the 6 values of the SPC.
more information in this page:

do not write any value with radioComm, just get the spc value.
do you know how I can connect droid x to radio com. I boot in to bootloader, and radiocomm is green. I put element 2786 but when I try to read, it say critical error on the phone and didn't read the spc code.

[Q] Setting Default Network

I must configure an SIII to work on GSM network by default. I can change the network mode in the phone info, but when I turn off the device, it back to the default.
I looked for a way to do this using the build.prop and found the following line:
Code:
ro.telephony.default_network = 8
I know that this line defines the network mode, but do not know what value to use. In case the default is LTE / CDMA and wanna leave LTE / GSM. Logically it should be 9, but didn't work.
Does anyone know the correct values?
Solved!
Set it to 3 and worked, network mode is GSM auto (PRL) as default

[Q] CDMA Operator settings from NV

Does there exist any method to allow write of own CDMA operator settings into modem? Something like setting NV_ITEM 8035 to 0 in XT912.
Bumping this thread with clarification of question:
did anyone succeed with setting RuimOnly to NV_ONLY, so it survive phone reboot?
Did you ever figure out a way?

Using Easer/Tasker/Shell to turn off second SIM slot

Hi,
I use two SIM cards on my OnePlus 6 (rooted OOS 10.3.0); one for personal use and one for work.
I've been trying to find a suitable shell command that turns off the second SIM-slot (SIM2) which has my work SIM in it.
The idea is to combine the command with automation software like Easer, to turn the second SIM off for specific hours of day.
You currently have to go to the phone settings and disable the second SIM manually.
After searching the internet I found this thread on stackoverflow: LINK
The suggested solution says to use what is called service call function:
Code:
service call phone x i32 y i32 z
Where:
x = index number you fetched previously,
y = your subscription ID (generally, SIM1 = 0, SIM2 = 1)
z = whether on (1) or off (0)
I tried digging up the correct x value as suggested on stackoverflow and came up with the following command:
Code:
service call phone 178 i32 1 i32 0
However, after running this command as root on Termux terminal, it outputs a lot of text and nothing seems to happen to SIM2. It doesn't turn off.
I've attached the output of running the command.
I wouldn't want to just randomly call some functions by changing the x to a different number. Who knows what you might do to your phone, as you're running the command as root after all.
What gives? Am I just using the wrong function call? If so, then what is the correct one?
Any tips or leads on what to do?
