[Q] Randomly stopped booting? - Motorola Atrix 2

I have had flashed the newest Mokee rom around a month ago. It has been working ever since fine. Lately it would freeze up and id have to take the battery out and reboot and it would be fine. But yesterday, it froze and I tried rebooting then it just wont boot. I left it for around 10 minutes and its still booting. I don't want to factory reset because I dont wanna lose all my stuff on the phone. Is there anything I can do?

There is a release version in mokee thread, download it and make a clean flash. Follow these steps;
Wipe cache, delvic and data
Flash mokee rom and reboot (do not flash GApps)
Let the ROM settle for about 20-30 minutes
Reboot to recovery and wipe cache and flash GApps.
Good luck.

because you need to wipe(factory reset) when flashing different roms. when you upgrade the same rom, you dont have to wipe.
i have and its still not working do i need to wipe cahce to

wiping data(factory reset) should take care of that. wipe, flash rom, flash gapps(if needed), and reboot. thats all.
done all that still gets stuck at the loading screen
ok got one to flash i did a cache wipe to and it seem to work ty

I'm not sure why, but sometimes when I flash a recovery and reboot into recovery from ROM Manager, I get the same thing. But if I flash, then power off and boot into recovery using volume+powerUp, it works fine.

[Q] Process system is not responding. Would you like to close it?

I got this while replying to a text message...
I've been getting quite alot of these, from even various applications. It's driving me nuts!!!!
Is there any (permanent) solution for this??
ROM: Gummy
Kernel version: 3.1.10_IcyGlitch_V14-BS_I896-I897 [email protected] #1
Baseband version: T959TLJL3
I'd be forever grateful if this problem could be solved... I really love this ROM
First I would reboot to recovery, then wipe cache, in advanced wipe dalvik cache, then fix permissions. If the problem comes back , I would back up your apps, msgs, that you want, then, wipe system, cache, wipe data/factory reset, and reflash. Maybe a newer rom.

This is a bug firmware, also sometimes a problem when using swap. I recommend flash newest ROM, they are much better.

I did the first thing you reommended, it didn't work and to make matters worse, ma phone doesn't pass the boot screen....
I quickly rebooted in recovery and made a nandroid backup - followed your second suggestion but i never made a backup of ma msgs because you didn't say so in the 1st suggestion... i can load new roms but can restore from ma nandroid backup
When you wipe dalvik cache, your phone can and will take several minutes to reboot, because it's rebuilding the dalvik cache. Secondly, wiping dalvik cache and fixing permissions wouldn't cause your phone to not boot. Between my wife's and my phone, I've flashed Roms, updated, experimented, fixed, stuff, etc... hundreds of times, and never has a dalvik cache wipe / fix permissions caused the phone to not boot. Hesitant to try to help, because you seem to be blaming me..... But if you can't restore a nandroid, it could be you're on a kernel in which the nandroid backup/restore feature doesn't work, you are running an earlier ICS build.

I'm sorry if i came across like that...
just that the phone is driving me nuts
ALSO.... it's the second time i am seeing where reboot take way longer than usual after restoring from a nandroid backup. I av done quite a few and reboot takes less than 10mins. I attempted one the other day and 2hrs 30mins later all i saw was the splash screen and boot animation, phone HOTT!!
This evening again, it looked as if it was going to do the same thing thing... it passed 20mins, i can't sit around waiting for that again
It sounds like a flash to stock KK4 (Full Reparation) would be your best bet. If you're already on G. B. bootloaders, I would recommend the NO BOOTLOADER version, no use flashing bootloader unnecessarily. After that, I would flash the rom of your choice, following the instructions in the O. P. line by line.
Maybe a lot more current rom.

Then I recommend re-flash the stock kk4 NO BOOTLOADER, format the internal sd, install the ROM again and install all the programs manually, not with the nandroid backup.

Random reboots. Advice?

I have been having random reboots with my nexus s. I have tried factory resetting the device. I am rooted and I have had this problem on both CM10 and AOKP M1. I have not messed with the kernels or overclocked the device. Any help would be great thanks!

You can't flash between different ROMs without full wipe and expect it to work. Just factory reset is not enough.

you mean doing a wipe/factory rest in recovery isn't enough? I have been doing that for over a year on many different devices without any problems.

Hi,
Yeah the more wiping the better:
All done via recovery....
Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik....then I flash a zip file called "wipe all" this basically wipe everything under mounts and storage except the SD card.
Call me careful but I do the above twice b4 any new ROM and I've had zero issues.
Good luck

What I usually do when switching ROMs: all done in recovery, wipe/factory reset, format /system, then flash the ROM, flash gapps, wipe cache and dalvik cache again, reboot. If you still have random reboot without installing many apps, you may have a defective hardware component or you have some apps eating up all the memory forcing the system to reboot.
If you could, do this after a random reboot in a terminal and post the last_kmsg file here.
su
cat /proc/last_kmsg > /mnt/sdcard/last_kmsg

Phone won't boot after new ROM flash

I would post this in the Android Development section, but as I am new I will post here till then.
I am installing the new Viper 2.0 ROM, and after installing the ROM and rebooting for the first time the white screen with the green htc logo pops up and then the screen goes black. I'm worried I have bricked my phone and was wondering if there was any way to get it back to its original state.
Using CWM and came from Viper 1.2 ROM. I have made a CWM backup of the Viper 1.2 ROM before flashing.

I flashed Viper One S 2.0 and everything works absolutely flawlessly
First of all, take TWRP instead of CWM. CWM hasn't been developed for the last six months. Then you have to do the following steps
1. Put Rom on SD card
2. Extract the Rom on your computer and put the boot.img in your fastboot folder
3. Boot into recovery
4. Wipe System
5. Instal Viper
6. Reboot into bootloader and flash boot.img with the command fastboot flash boot boot.img
7. Reboot again into recovery
8. Clean Cache and Dalvik
9. Boot into sytem and have fun with Viper One S 2.0:laugh:

I've tried that, I used cmd and the flash script both didnt work. It keeps trying to boot into recovery but just freezes.
Also another quick question: how long does it take to install the ROM? It takes less than a minute for the 'Reboot' button to appear yet it still says installing at the top of the screen.
Should I just keep waiting or has the install actually finished?
EDIT: it just says 'Executing Full Wipe' then it erases and formats the cache, system and data as EXT4

What do you mean by not work?
About a min but not used CWM in a long time because its buggy.
The time it takes to install a rom varies quite a lot. A dirty-flash (no wiping) seems to take a minute or two, but a full flash can take up to 5min.

AW: Phone won't boot after new ROM flash
Don't do a full wipe in the aroma menu. You did it before. The result would be that the installation is very fast but nothing is installed.
Boot your phone in the recovery, then wipe system, afterwards do a clean instal. In the aroma menu take the option Installation without wiping. The installation should now take a few minutes. And then follow my other points or take a good look in the op

EDIT: Also what do you mean by clean install? just re install the ROM again or?
Just a comment, I ran into a similar situation and thought my ROM didn't flash and after a basic reboot at full battery it finally booted up into the theme but not saying it will solve ur issue.

Factory Reset Not Reseting

Rooted my phone, but when I went to flash a new ROM I tried doing a CW data wipe, and the phone locked. Took out battery after about 10 min. Booted normal, but I was no longer able to download from the Market. Tried re-flashing the stock stuff, and still no dice. Every time I try to factory reset through the menu it says'Performing factory data reset' and just circles and circles and nothing. Goes on for at least 15-20 min. What is up with the market?

So download mode as in your phone is still plugged into your computer and you do the volume hold/power button combo? If that's correct, unplug your phone from your computer than do the volume hold/power button combo. And cwm is installed via odin, not the play market.
