I rooted my phone and I go into rom manger and try to download a rom and it dont load. i got one from here and put it on the external sd can it still wont load is ther something i missing. or doing wrong. please help thank you.
You say your phone is rooted, so go into Rom Manager and flash Clockwork Mod Recovery. It will be the top option. There isn't one for the Skyrocket so choose the one for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2.
Than reboot into recovery and do a Nandroid backup. Than do a factory reset and wipe cache. Than you will choose install .zip from sd card. Find the .zip on your sd card and install it.
If all goes well you should be running a custom ROM now.
You need to download the roms on xda in the development section. And then put them on your sd card
After installing cwm recovery for the tmobile gs2
Yeah, I forgot to mention that part.
Ok. My sidekick 4g is rooted, i installed rom maneger, flashed clockwork mod, but when i want to install a rom from sd card, i boot into recovery, but i dont have the option of installing from sd. So i cant install any roms. anyone know why? i wanna instal smooth maximus already in my sd card.
maybe just try going into recovery mode the regular way, without using cwm? then try it that way? did you save the .zip of the ROM you want onto the root of the sd card?
I was advised that i needed to update my recovery to twrp from cwm recovery to avoid an issue i got while flashing roms (the contents of my sd card would get pushed down into a subfolder of a newly created set of folders) however when i wiped my phone, as i always used to do with CWM twrp seems to have wiped a lot more, its wiped the existing rom, and all the files on my card, so i cant install a new rom. Basically i only have access to twrp recovery mode, how can i get the rom .zips onto my phone to install them? Id really appreciate any help at all, i had no issues flashing with CWM and i re

You can mount your storage as mass storage with twrp.
Your PC will find your phone like a normal mass storage device.
which model

It wouldn't be a full brick he can get into bootloader and recovery... Just get any rom mount storage put the rom on sd Card and flash it... If needed flash boot. Img as well.

As posted above you probably flashed a rom that requires a boot. Img flash the boot. Img in bootloader.

I am a "NOOB" and I completely apologize if this has been discussed previously. My daughter has a Galaxy S3 that someone installed TWRP on it. She tried to update the phone because it gave her the status to do so. Somehow she has wiped everything except TWRP and I have no idea what to do in order to get a OS back on the device. Can someone please help and I really need the information explained to me in the simplest terms. Thanks
In twrp, if you click "restore" does it list anything on either internal or external memory? If so, just restore it and don't update.

It doesn't show anything.
Did you try reboot system?
Odin flash VRBMB1. You'll need a access to Windows for this to work. This will return you to out of the box stock rom.
Do what Slimsnoop suggested. Its for the best

lol
It just means the SYSTEM was wiped. Just download a small ROM like CM10.1 and flash it. Reboot.
Have had this happen a lot. For a fast fix You will have to load ROM on the external SD card, then when you flash it check the directory where the ROM is stored on the external SD and flash it. Reboot. No need to flash gapps if you don't plan on keeping that ROM.
If you plan on keeping it just download the ROM you want and flash.

Ok so this just happened to me and I turned to this awesome site for help. I had switched from CWM to TWRP and installed the img file, when it rebooted into recovery it told me there was no OS installed. I flashed the above referenced file with Odin... when it rebooted though, I had everything I thought I had lost. No stock rom, it was still running cm10 with all my apps and themes, everything.
I'm confused. I'm not a total newbie to this kind of stuff, but I'm by far no expert. I'm just curious if TWRP didn't recogonize anything so it assumed there was no OS installed?
Easy way around this. Happens to me all the time
what you are gonna have to do it download a compatible rom from your computer to a micro sd card. Put the micro sd card in your phone. Go into twrp and select the rom and flash from external sd.
Hey guys, I just got my phone and I've installed the official TWRP on it but didn't realize in the process of unlocking bootloader and doing the TWRP custom recovery that it would wipe the rom. I'm not too used to working without phones without an external SD Card so now its stuck without a rom flashed.
I have a rom ready to go, I just don't know how to exactly push or write it onto my phone so I can install it via TWRP. If someone can just give me a step by step guide on how to do this I'd be much appreciated.
Edit: Never mind was being impatient it only wiped data and apps.
