[Q] root without unlocking bootloader, will it be possible? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a possibility in the future to get root without unlocking the bootloader, so we won't loose the warranty?

[Q] Rooting without unlocking bootloader

Hey guys I've read on internet that you can root(xperia arc) the phone without unlocking the bootloader using Gingerbreak. Is that real? And if you root without unlocking bootloader, will you void anymore the warranty?

[Q] Rooting / Unlocking Bootloader

Hi I was just wondering if there will be an easy way to root and unlock bootloaders with a Chromebook in the near future?

How do I Root Without Unlocking?

Hey yall, I have some weird issues going on where I can't unlock my bootloader from Motorola (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377064). So I have to try a different tool and it requires that I have root access. I guess motofail2go was nuked so I was wondering if there was any other hacks that allowed us to root without bootloader?
TIA

Boot Loader Unlock Request

Since rooting the device voids the warranty, and now the only method to obtain root with 4.4 triggers the tamper flag, if one is going to root, is there any reason to NOT request a bootloader unlock code from Motorola?
And if the bootloader is unlocked via the request, does that essentially turn it into an non-warranty Dev phone? (ie would we then have the ability to roll back from 4.4 to 4.2?)

You can only get the unlock code if you have the dev edition. And if you do, unlocking the bootloader won't void your warranty.

Non dev vzw devices are not eligible to receive unlock codes.
