So, it seems one of our top devs, @berni987654321 has lost his phone...I guess that, if everyone helped a little, we'd be able to get him another device, so that he can resume developing, if he wishes so... Just my noobish 2 cents here, but let me hear what you think...If 50 people donated $7.00 each, we'd be able to grab one from swappa, or maybe less elsewhere... I can't develop (yet), but I'd like to help those who can and gave us the fruit of their efforts.
Mods, move/edit/contact me if neeeded...
Maybe he wanted to lose it/move on? I have only had this phone for a year and it is my first smart phone, but if I was a programmer/developer I would want to keep up with the newest devices...if only a new 3D phone was on the horizon. Who knows, maybe the next thing will be 3D Google Glasses...

just to make this clear I DIDN'T want to lose my o3d,
I would'nt get a much less powered phone if so, my current device is just borrowed.
Of course it wasb't just fun to have this phone but it is also great to see
something new is working on a phone which is that unsupported by a company
which could do much for their users.
Of course I want to move on with a new phone but that doesnt mean that I wouldn't
develop for an older phone

why are people so concerned about Gingerbread? I bet at least half of the people who kept asking for Gingerbread does not even know why they wanted it. I'd like to see what is the main reason people need it. I understand it's the latest version and it got some cool features but does it really affect the phone that much? I'd rather ask LG to fix some of the issues they have now rather than the Gingerbread... just my 2 cents...
I thought the wordage (yes I did) of my tweet would display the humor in was going for. Now I did mean it don't let the smooth taste fool ya. But you guys are so he'll bent on making people feel stupid you didn't even notice it.
I didn't start this thread for scrubs to come in and flame. I want Gingerbread for the same reason I buy a new phone every 2-3 months. Because it's new. I know how to root my phone, I have every ROM stored on my phone so I can play with it in my spare time, but what's wrong with wanting an official update?
And don't you think an official update would come with bug fixes?
This forum has gone to ****, you ****ers need to get off your high horses and chill out. =D
But if you want a list.
Improved UI
Improved power management
Improved copy/paste
Those are the features I want. Keyboard seems nice too but I can download that now.
Anyways thanks for taking your time to try and ruin my day, but you failed.
On the brighter side of thews.
did you read about the guy who pocket dialed 911 while planning his next heist? Classic fail.

I agree.
I think LG rushed the phone out the market. It's time to get our phones working right with a update from LG
So I saw this app on Lifehacker:

Has anyone tried this on our phones? I'm very interested in using it but I'm not going to buy it if it's known to not work.

Gflam 1 of the co developers of this is my rom partner. We did a rom called sourcery together. i finally put recovery on today and was suppose ot work on getting him the info to make it compatible. But he was busy. Ill post as soon as its supported. and i do some testing for him.
That be cool.

Wow, that would be awesome! Not yet officially supported on our phone according to link. Seems like it would be pretty buggy running on SD.
Somewhat on topic, this is one of the reasons I got an LG phone. I work with VMware products in my job and they've partnered with LG to work on giving users the ability to run a business and personal accounts simultaneously through virtualization. Not 100% sure if it is actually a whole other ROM but it looks like it from the demo. If it's true virtualization for phones, I could see you being able to run multiple ROMs.
Check it out. Might be another option when it comes out:
http://communities.vmware.com/commu.../lg-vmw-partnership-follow-up-with-demo-video
The dev on this sent me an email and said they are working on this device and one of his guys is testing it out now. It should be available soon. The dev was also very helpful and very quick to respond to my email.

Now that is not really true. As there are many reasons for not liking the rom. Like me, the reason I don't use them is that they don't use the devices OEM drivers. Which leads to certan things not working 100%. Like weaker bt and WiFi connections. Noice cancellation, and others.
Now let's see what happens. Maybe Samsung didn't make him sign a contract that stops him from using anything he learns while working there when it comes to the devices.
Good things for Androids future, can't wait to see what the next year of Android will bring. I'm guessing big things. Maybe REAL iPhone killers, not just by quantity but by quality.

i concur...
however i must say Moto phones has way better reception than Samsung phones
sad that Moto phones are always locked, and always behind times in everything from software to hardware.
CM6/CM7 and future CM8 or possibly called Samsungen8, is not my thing either.
it's a great ROM, but it lacks a lot of support for features like FM radio, some cameras, some recording functions, etc, etc.
but maybe now that the DEV is actually working directly for Samsung, we might see support for all those missing features in the future?

Well, the key to learn about everything in the world is to be curious about it. As I've always said, I just do all this things because one day I was curious about it and though "why not giving it a try?" and that is how things start on my life.
Also, I don't think it is good to just stuck to one thing and only work on that since when you are working on something but you feel you cannot get forward by yourself, why stuck there instead of trying something new and maybe learn something new which maybe you could use to fix the first problem? If you don't move on, you'll get frustrated and only then is when you'll abandon the project (does this sound familiar to you? )
Curiosity is the engine of the world guys! If you are curious about something, why not try to make it yourself instead of waiting for someone else to do it for you?
