There's an apk in the app section. For those have gotten it installed, how has it met your expectations? I think it sounds like a depressed Siri, especially when I check the weather.
Sent from my Samsung Infuse running AOKP.
It FCs a lot on me. I have to clear data every time just to fix the issue.
I installed it through ES file explorer. That might've been the issue as I don't know how to install it to /system/app plus adding permissions. If someone can help me do that, it would be greatly appreciated.
In any case, I have tried the S Voice and I could say that it is just Vlingo with exclusivity. It is almost on par with Apple's Siri, though.

Hey bigfau...what did you mod in yours? I downloaded the one from bigjoes link yesterday...it works for the most part except it force closes when I actually tell it to play a song, artist, album, etc...and sleep wake doesn't work either...but I can understand that...this is built for the sgs3 so not all options are gonna work...but I would think music should work?
Basically just wondering if your modded one might improve my experience with s voice...
Is s-voice unsuccessful on the skyrocket?as I have not seen it included in ROMs , is there any good alternatives out there?

If you use an AOSP based ROM such as CM10/AOKP they will have Jelly Bean and one of the new things added is Google Now which I think is 10x bettery imo.

You could try Robin from the play store. It worked fine on my GS II Skyrocket. The S-Voice app would always crash.
Embryo ROM has S-Voice.
S voice sucks everytime I tried it (not sure about the S3 , but in SR that is).. Waste of time .
Agreed - I've used both on my S2, and Google Now is better. To be honest, regular Voice Search is just as good in a lot of ways!
S-voice...
I am not totally sure, but I believe it has to be a TW rom in order to work correct? This is more of a question for my own memory banks than a statement...
I use Google Now and it works really well. Just need Google Now to open apps and put events in calendar and the stars will align....
Hey guys I am currently using Clean Rom 3.0 and looking for a better MMS app for my Galaxy S 3. I heard of custom mms apps that have quick reply in them and curious if anyone knows where I can find one. Thanks.

Really?? Do you know how to use the market at all? How to search and download apps? Or did you just want someone to spoonfeed you?
Here comes the airplane, weeeooww(airplane noise), open up! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms
That's probably going to be your best free solution. Has quick reply and a ton of theming. Another choice might be handcent, tho I don't remember being impressed with it on my Droid X.
Sorry if I sound like a jerk, I just see a TON of people not use the search option on here at all or even the market.
Brian Gove...wow lol but I understand your energetic response.

You may be unfamiliar with Android but usually there is an app in the Play Store that can do whatever you want whereas in iOS that may not always be the case. Need a new gallery app? Search the Play Store. Need a file manager? Search the Play Store. Need a calendar app? Search the Play Store. You should get my point now.

Handcent is the best hands down IMHO
I would agree with Handcent unless you use group messaging, then your going to want GoSMS. I wish SOMEONE would release a non bloated app with group messaging that does not suck
I guess I should have given more details to my question, yes thanks for the replies and no I dont need to be spoon fed lol I have used all of those sms apps but I was wondering if anyone knew of a a custom mms app like the stock one that had quick reply built in. I remember seeing something about one but dont remember. Thanks anyways guys.

CM10 is pretty good, I'd still be running it now but I was having issues with battery life. I'd lose about 15-17% or so overnight with my phone in deep sleep. I'm on AOKP now and stop far it's better on my batt with the majority of the same features, more even. It does have the sms mod too.
Paranoid Android has the same features too, as do the majority of AOSP roms. I personally like PA and Liquid Smooth, and on my phone PA is the more stable of the 2. I for some reason just didn't like CM10, even though that's what PA and Liquid are based off of..... anyway, the jist of it is you ought to just test em all out, cause what's stable for one person may be extremely unstable for another.

Turns or I was wrong, AOKP doesn't have the popup, but neither does this one. It did give me an idea to which seemed to work for me. I just extracted the mms.apk file from a CM10 nightly and installed it.
I'll Dropbox it in a minute since Tapatalk doesn't let you attach anything except pictures.
Use a root browser and find system/apps/mms.apk (or secmms.apk if you're on TW) and rename it with a .bak on the end. Put the new file in the same place and make sure it's got the she permissions. Reboot and you should be golden.

Wow thanks so much for the help this is indeed exactly what I was looking for!

I installed it but is keeps saying messaging has stopped will I keep the name Mms or change it to SecMms.apk which is what my original was named also what was the she permissions you were talking about thanks?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
You will re-name it to whatever was originally in that folder. I believe all AOSP ROMs it is called Mms.apk and Touchwiz is SecMms.apk.
Far as the permissions, which it sounds like what might be causing your problem, depending on the root browser you are using(I use the one in ROM Toolbox) the format of the permissions you will want it to have are either "rw-r--r--" or "read" for 'Owner', 'Group' and 'Others' then "write" for 'Owner' only and "execute" for none. Or the final format would be 0644
Those are the three different ways that permissions are displayed.
---------- Post added at 02:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:50 PM ----------
I was just thinking, if the whole permissions thing is still confusing after my last post there, I might have thought of something that will do it for you fairly simply.
Replace the apk file as mentioned. Reboot. Then reboot again, into recovery tho. Then go to advanced and click on fix permissions.
A) Not sure 100% if this will work, B) the two reboots may be unnecessary, you may be able to replace and reboot directly into recovery and have it work.
Thanks man ill give it a shot.

Sounds like paranoid should have it.
What ROM are you trying this on? What file browser are you using? And what steps exactly are you taking that's giving you the errors?
I am using cleanrom 3.0 and esfile as my file manager. I first add. Bak to the original SecMms.apk. Apk and then add the file you gave me and renamed it to SecMms.apk and reboot, the permissions are the same as my original message app. Once the phone boots back up it will get to the loading conversations screen then it tells me that is has stopped working or something like that I am lost and thanks for the help.

MOD EDIT: DO NOT FLASH THE FILE IN THAT ARTICLE, IT IS FOR INTERNATIONAL S3 ONLY!
I can't wait to see what the ROM devs do with this!
Includes some of the non hardware based goodies that the S4 has.
" New features include a familiar array of lock screen widgets and unlock effects, new display modes, a re-tooled quick settings area in the notification pull-down, a new driving mode and an updated version of the S Voice assistant app. Some of the headline Galaxy S4 features like "Air view" hover-touch abilities aren't included -- that's because they're dependent on the S4's internal hardware."

While AOSP is more cutting edge, I like simple functions like Bluetooth volume working correctly as it does on TW.

I have it on my other S3, along with ktoonsez's kernel. While the volume seems to be acceptable, I still get the static and clicking every now and then.
This post is not to compare TW with AOSP, some do like TW based roms.

I'm saying ktoonz does have a tw version of his kernel if that's what you prefer. You could try using the ViPER4Android app and mess with the settings to clean that up. I'm sure someone in that thread could point you to good settings. In not sure if fauxsound amplifies BT, but you could try that as well.

Just wanted to point you in the right direction to fix your Bluetooth issue either through ktoonz's touchwiz kernel, fauxsound app, or ViPER4Android app. You may need to tweak the settings a bit to your liking as i don't know how severe your issue is. Could be the phone hardware, a software issue, a rom issue, or the Bluetooth headset itself causing it. It's not something that's easy to troubleshoot online. Sorry if i lost you, I'm a bit sleep deprived. Sorry if I was vague or rude. On that note, bedtime. Hope you get your issue resolved.

I've never had the Bluetooth issue with a TW ROM, only AOSP.
Thank you for the insight though. Get some rest.
So once the International version gets the official update, we can probably expect to see it 3 or 4 months later thanks to Verizon.
I just read that article and watched the video. Looks like aosp but with a few design tweaks. It would be nice if they just fixed the keyboard in the update. Ha

I wish Verizon would leak more updates. Other phones I have had in the past had new roms almost every week. The Galaxy S3 has been a big disappointment in factory updates, released hardware, and support. Once Samsung neglected to release a decent wireless charge option and Verizon cold shouldered its users, I don't think I'll go back to Samsung. I miss my HTC.

Keep in mind that other launchers and themes allow you to change the look of the icons as well.
I tried the TW theme but I'm still missing the actual app performance/construction. From what I read, I'm one of few who actually like those better!
