[Q] Looking for a New Twitter Client - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all!
I was wondering what you guys are using for a Twitter client? It seems like ever since FalconPro was pulled, I've just been defaulting to the official Twitter app. It works for me, but I am growing bored with it. I know I can download FalconPro from his site, but I forget if I had a token or not...
Anyways... What are you using for a Twitter client? Paid, and free versions are both welcome
Thanks in advance!

I'm right there with you man. Ever since #FalconPro was pulled I defaulted to stock. Don't mind it or anything but would love something else.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

it was updated not too long ago to work with android 4.4 you can always get the latest falcon at http://getfalcon.pro/ if you still have a token great, if not the app will instruct you how to obtain one. no matter what client I try out I always end up back with falcon. but if you must try a different one I would only recommend carbon.

Try Twidere, robird. Both are very good.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

I've been using Carbon for a while. I'm not a heavy twitter user but Carbon has a better interface and better features than the official client. I'm not sure if there are any issues with the token limit anymore as I have been using it since before Twitter pushed the limit.

I think Tweedle is the best minimalistic Twitter client.

You could give "Plume" a shot. I used to use it back in the days when I was using twitter.

Tweedle
I think the new Tweedle 2.0 it's an amazing option.
In my opinion, it's the best Twitter client at the moment.

There is a workaround in Falcon Pro for the token issue. Coming from Tweetbot on the iPhone, which was incredibly polished and well-supported, I have yet to find a solid Twitter client for Android.
Recently I downloaded Tweedle and it's simple, clean, and easy to use. I'm checking Twitter often and it's become my app of choice for this. Notifications for mentions and messages isn't as friendly, but the app is now 2.0 and was re-built from the ground up. So another +1 for Tweedle here.
Edit: Oh, and best of all, it's free!

I've been using Tweetings. There are a lot of great options including the ability to mute a user (like when Ricky Gervais goes on one of his many rants).

[Q] facebook update 1.6.0!! New 'Pages' feature...

There was a facebook for android update this evening. It said 'added pages', however I dont see that feature anywhere in the new update. Is any of you seeing the pages in your new facebook update?
Video uploading is now supported too. Where is that?
that sucks. I always wonder why iOS fb app is superior to Android fb app.
This is the worst android app, nothing more than a web app.

video upload can be found by tapping the camera at the top of your newsfeed.

Yeah exactly.... many users( even me as a page owner) were thinking if their efforts could be way easy on it... but it didn't helped... this application dissapointed me in many things while using it for friends even.. this application has many limitations which need to be solved out with a new user interface may be... But I was looking if page managing could be easy on it. But no! it has just enabled viewing of page yet... I can't make any post as a page there... and the link sharing is even not enabled.. which for me is a very important feature... this application sucks..!!!!

You can view a "Page", but have to find it your newsfeed first. Google it for more info.

Why invest millions of dollars improving a product that most people will use no matter how crappy it is? Besides, the less time people spend using the mobile app, the more time they can spend on the full web version, where the advertisements are.
and is it me or does the widget use up more battery now?

This feature was available in previous versions too. If you saw a post from a page you could view it. However there wasn' t a dedicated page feature to view pages whenever u want.

Flipboard For Android Available!

For those of you that don't make it out of the One S forums...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644212
Runs fine on the One S! Not sure it will make me switch from Google Currents though, Currents works pretty well since the last update.
Sent from my HTC One S
Yes, it does run fine on the S but like you prefere Google currents, since new update it runs really smooth on the S
I don't use Currents, but FlipBoard is much better than the official Facebook app, hands down. It actually loads photos, every time. The same can't be said about the FB app.
Although, I cant figure out how to customize my news sources, or types of news (Tech, Stocks, Regional etc.). Any help?

Nor the xda app to be fair.
Customization is done on the last page by touching the 'More' panel and then 'Edit'.
Hope it'll be available for tablet soon!

Facebook App that's worth a crap?!

Official Facebook app won't post a status/pic, rarely posts my comments.
Fast Pro has too many bugs
Flipster is half ass, doesn't show everything, SLOW
Friendcaster Pro wants to show me everyones games more than statuses and such.
Everyone uses something different, what's a quality Facebook app youd recommend??

Official Facebook app is fine on a modern device. It is quite big (~20MB) and uses a big chunk of RAM (~45-50MB) so on older devices, it can be quite painful to run. Simply go to facebook.com in your mobile browser, you get the same interface.
Flipster is the best of the alternatives, but the problem with the alternatives is that 1) if you post from it (and this is anything but the website or the official app), Facebook doesn't share your status with all your friends. It's posted to your Timeline, but almost nobody will see it. And 2) it won't show you all your friends' statuses and photos. Their game activity will always show up, though, as well as anything sponsored.
Most likely the fastest is TweetDeck, or maybe TweakDeck (the former, only... tweaked). The interface looks like straight up ass, but it's fast, even on crappy phones. Tested and verified on Samsung Acclaim (800MHz ARMv6, 160MB RAM, ~20MB app install space, Froyo).
Tried "Scope"? It's an all-in-one social app.

FBM! I love it but its simply a mobile version of Facebook. still its easier to navigate, and it has Compatibility Mode options which it'll load "Opera Mini" Facebook interface (good for slow connection)

Anyone else going to try it out? Opinions?
Ooh yes, i really like it! I hope it will be extended to other phones because i havent'got one of those. I think it's a perfect launcher for those that use a lot facebook

Just don't trust em anymore - Let's see..
I lost trust with Facebook after all the issues they have had with privacy. Also when adding the Facebook Android app about a year ago to my Android phone it basically merged all the pictures and put them in my contact list, sounds fun but it was actually a pain.
Think I'll wait for the reports to come rolling in in this thread before I try it.
Useless waste of resources... So no.

Using it right now, takes a little bit of time to get used to. But if you use Facebook allot then i say get. The chat heads are pretty useful.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
The best part is chat heads and you can use this without installing Facebook home, just update the FB and FB messanger app and allow chat heads I. Settings ,works great and includes sms
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I started using it day 1 and I think it has potential. It allows me to do what I usually do on my phone, but right from the launcher. I didn't really use widget, but it doesn't prevent you from using the regular launcher. I love the Chat Heads, as it helps with texting and keeping track of who you are talking to. Once you are done, just drag their Head down to close the chat window. I like it cause it reminds me to check if I replied to anyone. Some things I don't like is that there is no way to manage your contacts, save contacts, or anything you can normally do on any SMS app. You have to go to the People or SMS app to do that. I think some stuff will be added/fixed over time. Overall, a pretty good experience once you learn how to use it. Took me 30 minutes to find out my apps were a swipe to the right away. Big learning curve.
Here is the app for those with non compatible devices. Good luck.

Not everyone is running high performance apps. As one coworker said, it is iOS for Android in a way. No widgets, just put the apps you will use on the main app window. Everything else is still there, just centered around updates. For most non-power users, it will be fine.
Hey, it is not for everyone. I'm running Mastamoon's CM10.1 unofficial S3, and it runs well for me. Don't like it, just uninstall it.
How to use facebook Home If it is not Supported in my country.
In India
Got it on my htc g2/vision/desire z
I made that my facebook phone, and had before this thread only the fb app installed, got around 5-7days with stock battery and constant w-lan connection
Since fb home I am down to 3d without constant w-lan connection (off over night)
So, although it is very nice and I personally think that this is no lockscreen anymore in a sense of LOCKscreen, so you can go right ahead, it kinda drains very much :/
Will leave it this and maybe next week, but then I'll see how it works out
Also, needing quite much of the little RAM I got there :/

No text wrap in any browsers on Kitkat

Looks like some functionality was removed from kitkat since no browser wraps text anymore when increasing text size.
Any solution to this yet?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Opera works on nexus 4 kk, it's the only one I have found that text wrapping works on kk. You have to turn it on in settings if I remember.
And only Opera Classic. Not the new Opera... which uses Chromium.
But Opera Classic is so slow compared to Chrome or Boat.
I wish I could have speed and wrapping.
Any ROM developers willing to add the SINGLE_COLUMN and NARROW_COLUMN LayoutAlgorithm back in to kitkat?

- the new opera browser that uses chromium does support text wrap and does work, tested
- besides opera, dolphin browser also support text wrap, BUT you have to install dolphin jetpack, apparently dolphin jetpack uses a different engine or something that helps dolphin browser support text wrap and load pages faster.
- personally i really like the text size feature in chrome and feel like text wrap is not necessary since this feature works so well. however chrome for some reason always reloads pages after you switch to another app so i don't use chrome
This has hit the news http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/01/15/kitkat_text_trap_no_wrap/
Please star the issue at http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=62378 - Cant do any harm
I'm surprised even one tech news site has come forward with this. I find the unwillingness of all the news tech sites to report this problem appalling!
I guess the thought of not getting free stuff overrides any sense of morality. They are all very quick to highlight anything positive, no matter how small, like the removal of a few micro seconds wait time when 'tapping' the screen in mobile view.. which let's face it is just common sense, I bet all other browsers do this anyway..... but 'no', 'this is brilliance in its highest form!!!', is splashed about on the front pages of every android news site, multiple articles created over periods of weeks telling us how fantastically brilliant Google are, over and over again... it's disgusting brown nosing of the highest order.
Why aren't any custom rom developers adding the WebView functionality back in? Is that portion not open source?
