I'm not aware of any current fixes. Switching Roms built from source may fix the issue. I am running pure stock so I'm not sure. And its a bug. Because when using a third party sound recorder. There is less or no rustling noise. It may be fixed in the 4.4.3 update.

Actually the problem didn't appear with 4.4.2, it already existed with 4.4.0.
Some users report that it disappeared with 4.4.2, others say it was diminished, and others say it is the same.
As far as I know, google still didn't acknowledge this problem as being software or hardware related, so we will have to wait on it

Led notification light issues

Hi all
Just got my 2nd nexus 5, first one went back for touch screen issues. Got 2nd one and this has problem too.
If someone sends me a text the pulse notification light pulses once and that's it. No repeat. However after that if someone sends me a text it works as it should, ie repeats every 10 seconds.
Seems very random as to when it works properly. Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks all
Chris

Yes, people have this problem on stock rom.. It appears randomly though and not as often as you're getting. A restart fixes it... Are you using Light Flow or any app to control the LED??
No will light flow solve this?

May be, May be not. Even light flow has some random problems with LED notifications... For some people it works flawlessly, for some it doesn't... Only way is to try it out...

Trying it now seems to work ok. Strange that my last nexus didn't suffer this problem. Wounder if Google are aware of this issue?
Also on a side note not sure if it's related but I'm sure my first nexus 5 did a software update when I first took it out of the box, my new one did not do that.

Yes, I think they are aware of it... I remember reading it somewhere around XDA about it.. Can't find a link to it though.. I guess we will just have to wait for the update and see... FYI, a reboot fixes the issue temporarily..
It didn't update because the ones which were manufactured in January came with 4.4.2 Out of the box which is the latest update!

Thanks for your reply mate, for me when I reboot the first message does not work, then they seem ok after that, that's just for sms, I get no notifications at all with whatsapp etc, however light flow seems to work ok at moment but would be nice if Google did a fix.

Nexus 5 stutters and has audio distortion when using only YouTube

I'm on my third Nexus 5 that has had issues, and every single one of them have had this one. When using YouTube the video is jerky and stutters, and randomly there will be audio distortion and pops from the speaker. This is the third Nexus 5 I've had with this issue, and nothing I find can fix it. I can barely find any info on the internet about it.
From what I can tell it is limited to YouTube. The thing is, my old S2 on 4.1.2 had no such issue. None of my other electronics have any issues with YouTube to the degree this does. I'm past believing it is an issue with my phone(though it might be), because as I said, I'm on my third Nexus 5 with this issue.
Has anyone else had this issue? What are my options in trying to fix it? I've had such a bad experience with the Nexus line I'm close to giving up and buying a different phone. This is driving me crazy.
I hope someone can help. Thanks.

App is up to date, and my internet speed is at least 10mbps. I have 30 at home and have the same issues. It does this at home, here at work, and on 4G. But it couldn't be the internet connection as it works fine on my old phone and other devices.
Here's some more info.
Stock, unrooted, stock kernel, 4.2.2. I've been tempted to root and unlock the boot loader to install a new kernel and see if that helps, but I'm not used to rooting Nexus devices and don't want to make it difficult to upgrade to 4.4.3 when its released. Hopefully that will fix this issue, but Google has been radio silent on it so I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

I assume by 4.2.2 you meant 4.4.2
Try clearing data and cache on the YouTube app, if that doesn't help try uninstalling/uninstalling updates and reinstalling/reupdating.

Exactly. It's why I've ruled it out being a hardware issue, because this has happened to two other Nexus 5's I've been in possession of. It's so weird.
I've unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, all the fun stuff. I'm gonna try a new kernel to see if that will fix it.

Just an update, yep, that didn't work. Still happens. I think by the end of the year I'm going to get a different phone, I'm done dealing with this. I'll put it with it until then. Thanks for the help.

Hiya,
Im having this issue as well. Some of the videos have disortion and stutters, but its not in youtube app. When I play videos form the websites it happens but, not in all of them. Dont know why some are ok and others dont. Sometimes its really annoying, especially when it stutters a lot in the playedback video. I do not know if its a hardware or a software issue.
EDIT:
Just checked the same video in Android Authority app and in Youtube app. In the first app audio stutters and being a wee bit choppy, in Yt however, everything is fine. Audio is clear, no stutters at all. So I assume its software issue and maybe audio codecs dont play well with third party apps. Also, I dont think there is a solution to this problem.

[Q] [FIXED] Camera sound Nexus 5 horrible after update 4.4.3

Hi there,
Recently i've updated my Nexus 5 to Android 4.4.3. (from stock 4.4.2 rooted)
Every time after updating to 4.4.3 my camera sound is horrible (like it's recording underwater).
I've used zip files (after wiping) to flash without any succes.
When i used my backup of 4.4.2 the problem was gone again. So the hardware isn't broken or anything.
Now i've sideloaded the official factory image (4.4.3) after a full wipe and still the problem exists.
How is this even possible? Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks for helping in advance
PS: i've contacted Google but their e-mail in bad translation didn't help me. They told me to do a factory reset lol

Thanks for your reply man! I really thought i screwed up my phone somehow without knowing it.
Do you know by any chance if there is a way to fix this? This topic was hard to google/search since I only got stuff about the previous camera bug. Or maybe my "tech English" isn't sufficient.
The issue is ongoing. We thought 4.4.3 was going to fix it but evidently not. There are no other real fixes

I never had this issue on previous android versions and I've had my Nexus shortly after the release. I honestly think this is a new bug but I could be wrong.
If there are no fixes I need a new phone or my money back.

The noise cancellation bug has been around since day 1, when I got my N5. Not everyone notices because it acts differently depending on the environment the videos are recording in. It also effects calls.
There's no fix right now. Try and get your money back if you like.

Yes, this is new bug, no discussion. I've made more than thousand vids with my N5 so I'm familiar with "old" sound bug, but this new one wich came with 4.4.3 is much worse than issue from previous one and make my Nexus completly useless as camera.. It sounds like underwater.

It's the same bug alright. I have no doubt. Perhaps it sounds different to you on your phone because they made it worse.
I can say with a strong degree of certainty that it is the same bug though, because the "old" bug you refer to was due to a poor noise cancellation issue. This bug went away for me when I fitted a slickwraps skin that covers my noise cancellation mic. ...and after upgrading to 4.4.3, I still don't have any issues whilst that secondary microphone is covered. My videos are as expected.

It's much worse that it was.. As I said, my Nexus is now useless as digital camera.. Or it was useless, because I've flashed 4.4.2 again.

So this bug is there since the beginning? How is it possible that multiple users experience the same problem after updating to 4.4.3?
I think it's a similar bug, but new.

I've sent another email to Google. I'll put the reply here.

But how come it wasn't there on my 4.4.2 or as you described it, wasn't hearable?
I am a music producer. I always use my phone to film my latest creations to send them to friends via whatsapp. Never had any issues. First was good, now it's absolutely useless. I film exactly from the same spot in my studio. There should be a way around to get the sound back from 4.4.2 right? Some custom rom or whatever?
Thanks for all your answers man!

Nexus 6p Compatibility

Hi. I've read a couple articles from a couple months ago that said there were issues pairing the Gear S2 to the Nexus 6p due to encryption. Is this still an issue?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
this issue was solved ,the gear S2 now works with the 6P
Is this definitely fixed? I can't find anything official via Google and this one post is the only mention that the issue has been resolved.
If the issue with encryption has been fixed, has the notification issue also been fixed? I recall there being problems with notifications being pushed to the watch.
Hi can anyone verify this?
Everything is working normal on my Nexus 6 on 6.0 if that helps.

Did you unencrypt your phone? I flashed Chroma and unencrypted my Nexus 6 in order to get my Gear S2 to work. I tried it on stock rooted but could not get the update to download. Everything is working great now that I'm on Chroma ROM.
Now that I look at it, my phone has been unencrypted but forgot about doing it. I am running the normal 6.0 but I am rooted. I do have some Bluetooth issues though.
Not really sure if an issue but when ever I answer my phone it defaults to the watch, anyway to change that?
I have a Nexus 6, completely stock and running 6.0, that pairs perfectly fine with my gear s2. The only issue I see is that since it isn't a Samsung phone, I do not have access to all available apps for the s2. I've been looking around for a way to have access to them in order to install to my watch, but I haven't found anything definitive yet. Biggest thing I can't find is how to install Milk music to the watch (i've been able to sideload it onto my phone).

Go to settings, Bluetooth, click on the icon next to your gear s2, and uncheck phone audio. Then it will default to the handset earpiece / Bluetooth headset
Only issue I have is not being able to transfer music from my Nexus 6 (rooted running latest chroma) to the gear s2. The gear app doesn't recognize my "0/music" folder. Any suggestions other than painfully transferring single tracks at a time through filemaster?

Are you running chroma lollipop or marshmallow? Am thinking about getting the watch too but am running purenexus marshmallow. Is all the notification working on the nexus 6? Thanks
I'm running chroma marshmallow latest version. I get all of my notifications, only issue is a Nexus issue on how the internal storage route is interpreted by the Sammy software.
No, Samsung Gear S2 is not compatible with Nexus 6P. Its compatible with Nexus 5 and some lists of other smartphone devices. It is officially declare by samsung in their website. Here i will give you the screenshot of compatible devices list.

I've had the Samsung Gear S2 classic for several months now, working perfectly with LGG2. Got a new Nexus 6P (Android 6.0.1) a week ago, did all OS updates and security updates and installed the Gear S2 app. It would pair and connect to my Gear S2 just fine but as soon as open the app and try to click on anything (e.g. watch faces, notifications, apps layout, etc...) it opens for 1s and closes again. I've tried repairing, reinstalling, resetting....re-anything but no luck. I have not tried turning off encryption yet but at this point the watch is unusable without the app. Very disappointing!

Ok...I fixed it. Just in case somebody was having the same issue. No rooting or ROM flashing necessary.
All I did was add "Google App" back into the list of apps that are allowed to send notifications to the Gear S2. I'm not entirely sure why this is related to notifications but I'm assuming since the OS needs to communicate with the watch to get all settings to display in the Gear app, that "Google App" is kind of synonymous for "anything Android" and should therefore always be left "on" in Gear app notifications.
I hope this helps somebody.
Cheers,
Mike
