if i rember correctly you must limit sms caracter to do max 3 sms.
I don't think that this is possible in the stock SMS app, but in Handcent SMS (in Play Store) there is an option in the settings to not convert to MMS if the message length exceeds 3 SMS.

Hi everyone. I have the Nexus 5 but I do not have a wifi plan. I have a Google Voice number and I have set up everything for texting and calling and I am using sliding messenger pro as my default texting app but it still does not let me send MMS through it. What apps are there that allow me to send MMS through Google Voice
None, google voice doesn't do MMS (except on Sprint)

Let's be clear. Google Voice doesn't 'do' MMS at all. If someone on Sprint or T-Mobile sends an MMS to your Google Voice number, it will get forwarded to the email address associated to your GV number. You'll get an SMS telling you that an MMS was received. If someone from AT&T or Verizon sends you an MMS to your GV number, it vaporizes into the interwebs.

Yeah, even SMS is broken for many users in Google Voice right now. It seems that many cannot get messages in the new Hangouts if sent from Voice due to a recent update. I don't know if it affects everyone, but it certainly does me. You can still get the Gmail notifications, but I don't get the messages in Hangouts.

Does it make u feel good to talk down to people?
We're working towards something. I'm throwing out ideas.
If your not going to contribute, why say anything?
MMS forwarding is essentially what GVoice does & to the best of my knowledge it has to be carrier enabled as well. At this time that includes Sprint & Tmo only, unless something has changed.

Pretty much title. I am using Textsecure but my wife's phone has issues accepting picture messages through textsecure while it's encrypted so I was going to send pictures via messaging but even adjusting the app ops settings messaging is still saying it's not allowed because it's not the default sms app. Anyway around this?

Thanks, but what I was looking for is a way to send messages with Messaging when it's NOT the Default SMS app. I want all of my texts going in to Textsecure and be able to send pictures with Messaging. But when Messaging isn't the Default SMS app, it doesn't allow you to send messages. Even if I give it permission in App Ops. :\

Hi guys,
I'm trying to migrate all my text messages including threaded group MMS from my Nexus 4 to my new Nexus 5. On my N4, I was using the stock messaging app, not hangout as my default messaging service.
I used My Backup Pro to migrate all the stuff over. It worked, sorta. All times on my threads were set to "5:02am" which is probably when the transfer finished. Therefore they're all chronologically jumbled.
Furthermore the MMS threads didn't show up properly. I would only see my response in the group thread.
PS. I downloaded the stock messaging app to use on my Nexus 5. And all these problems are shown on that app. Would you think using Hangout as default will change this?
I was wondering whether you guys had similar experiences and if you know any better ways to go about doing this again.
Ben
I use SMS Backup and Restore. Never had an issue with it. Timestamps are all what they should be.

Yup! Just make sure you check the box for MMS. I think it's free so there's no reason to not try it.

Cool, I'll give it a shot. Are you MMS group threaded or just pictures?
Okay, so I deleted the stock Android messaging app from my N5 and used Hangout as my default messaging app. And it seems like everything got transferred properly. Timestamps are all okay.
The only problem now are group MMS threads. When I open it, it just shows my responses. All the group participant responses don't show up.
Any clues?
I attached two pics to illustrate what I'm talking about. The group thread MMS only contains my response and the participant's response it buried in their SMS thread.
Is there a way to move the texts I already got in the default messaging app to whatsapp?
Thanks.
Anyone?

Copy paste. That's it.
You mean copy each single text and paste it in whatsapp? That is quite a lot of work, and also it would resend those texts to those people I think.
