[Q] downanimation.zip not working - HTC Sensation

Hi
I rooted my HTC sensation T-Mobile smartphone. I wanted to get rid of the T-Mobile boot and down animations.
I changed the file names of TMOUS_bootanimation.zip and TMOUS_downanimation.zip by adding the .bak extension at the end of the names. These files were found in system/customize/resources
I no longer have the T-Mobile animation on startup but have only the default android animation.
I want to use the generic HTC boot animation as both my bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip. I copied and replaced both files file in the directory already mentioned. I only get a black screen on shutdown.
I did notice that when I moved both files to system/media, the generic HTC animation worked on startup but not on shutdown.
I changed the permissions and ownerships of both files and nothing seems to work for the downanimation.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Agreed, if your on a tmobile Rom then it's highly likely that you will need to name your new down animation to exactly as it was before. Also what did you set the permissions to?

No boot animation

I tried to install a custom boot animation and now I get a black screen until android starts. I've placed 2 separate animations in the /system/media/ folder named bootanimation.zip. The first time there was no file there. If I delete the custom file my original doesn't return. Ideas?
You probably have another file. Correctly removing the userspace bootanim should bring back the original, unless you deleted that or have a non working anim in there.

You can't have two files with the same name in the folder. Also, I think you're supposed to put the .zip in /data/local. The bootanimation.zip in my /system/media folder is the original, the one in /data/local is the one I replace.

I mounted this into /system/customize/resource/ however the phone isn't recognizing it upon reboot. I tried a few times and it still won't work. I also went into root explorer and can see the file in there.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

Did you rename it according to your ROM?

Sorry I am a little new to this and couldn't find directions for how to rename them. I tried loading a file called "bootanimation.zip" and that didn't work and then I tried this "htc_bootanimation.zip"
I have read that you should boot the bootanimation.zip file in one of two locations... and yet neither seem to get the bootanimation file to run:
system/customize/resource/ or /system/data/local
Do you know how I should do this for ARHD 4.1.8?
Thanks,
Kate
Got it to work! I had to put it into data/local folder

That is indeed the boot animation file, unzip it and you can see the individual images.
The problem I ran into here was replacing it with a new boot animation of the same name somehow broke the startup animation altogether and all I got was the blue android animation, even after putting the original file back. I did a nand restore to get the original back and am now waiting for someone to figure out how to do this the right way or start making flashable zips.
I was doing this through es file explorer on viper xl 3.0. Did it the same way many times before on ice with no issues.

I set the system partition to write and then back to read once the files were moved, but I don't think I can change file permissions with es and I don't have root explorer. Eventually I will quit being lazy and try replacing the files through adb with proper permissions like I had to on my evo.
Idk if this interests you guys but.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823151

[Q] How to change bootanimation on sabsa prime?

Hi All,
I have Sabsa prime 15.0 on my saga and I want to change my bootanimation.
Usually I see people doing that by moving a bootanimation.zip to either /data/local or /system/customize/resource
My original bootanimation was in /system/customize/resource, so I replaced that one with my new bootanimation.
System was mounted as writable, and permissions are set.
However, my bootanimation is not showing up. I have no bootanimation at all.
What am I doing wrong here? Does the new bootanimation need to be in another location?

You cannot change the ba just like that, you need a third party app like boot animations or rom toolbox to change the files etc. I'm not sure I'm right but it works for me on all roms I use
I see only a way to enable/disable boot animation. Not flash a new one. Is that correct?

No, there should be different bootanimations to choose from and install or an option to choose the zip file of a custom bootanimation on this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5qcnVtbXkuYXBwcy5ib290LmFuaW1hdGlvbnMiXQ..
Ok that one works indd Thx for your help ifti768!
No problem

BootUp Shutdown Animation HOX

Hi, I'm with Sense 5 and 4.2.2. I flashed the Germany T-Mobile ROM, I already removed all the crappy apps but I tried to "activate" original boot up/ shutdown but apparently I'm doing something wrong. I went to system/customize/resources and there I finded logically 4 files (two audio files for boot up/ shutdown and two zip files with boot up/ shutdown animations) and also there was the original HTC boot up/ shutdown, so I 'deleted' the t-mobile files and replaced the names from the original HTC files with the t-mobile names. But it doesn't show up or can't either hear the sound. I created the HTC shutdown audio because it does'nt use audio in shutdown, so it's a blank MP3. I attach the files. Hope you can help me! THanks
I can't remember how to do that, sorry.

Try naming your "new" files with the same name as the "original" ones. I'm not sure how the carrier customization handles these files. But I'm just guessing it might still be looking for the specific file names.
I do know this for fact (as it worked for me): You don't need to put a blank MP3 there to remove the boot/shutdown sounds. Simply removing the original files (I put ".bak" at the end of the file name) will kill the sounds.
Also, for whatever root explorer you are using, be sure you mount the directory as R/W when writing or changing files.
I already tried renaming the new files, but as I said it won't recognize them making the boot go black
