[Q] mmcblk0p31.img copied wrong. Need help! - General Questions and Answers

I have been trying to downgrade my HTC Evo 3d GSM hboot from 1.52.0007 for a few days now and I was going through the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246.
I got to the bit were I was suppose to copy the file mmcblk0p31 from the dev/block to my sdcard and that went OK. However when I opened the file in XVI32, it was empty. As far as I could see the only code in the file on the tutorial was shown, so I copied it and sent it back to the dev/block. As I sent it I realized there must have been more on the file because i only sent back 32 records and 16384 bytes.
Can someone tell me if I can fix this and get my hboot to 1.49 so I can s-off? Can someone just send me the mmcblk0p31.img file?
So far I am stock, rooted, and unlocked. I changed my CID to HTC__001. I have backups so I can get back to my rooted phone with viper ROM.
I have HTC Evo 3d GSM
bootloader:
Shooter_U pvt ship s-on RL
HBOOT-1.53.007
eMMC-boot
Any other info needed?

Same problem here bro..
Can some try to solve this one? pls..
My evo:
Unlocked[htc method]
CWM recovery
Rooted[su installed]
Changed CID to HTC__001
I want Hboot 1.49.007 and S-OFF....
Also i have some question:
Does my evo need to be RELOCKED? before trying to get mmcblk0p31.img?

I had the same issue with mine and I had to extract the rom.zip file from the TMOUS RU program and rename it to PG58IMG.zip and flash it through HBoot and everything came up OK.
If you look at the original thread, this method is to be used if you can't get CID to work.
The are two TMOUS RU files, I extracted the rom.zip file from the second one for my phone and it flashed the rom and everything came up perfectly. Once the phone booted up into the ROM.
I did the OTA update from HTC and is was back to the original stock ROM.

I will attempt this when i go home for lunch.. thanks for the help!
btw do you by chance still have the rom.zip... i searched regarding getting the rom.zip while RUU is unpacking and finding it in the temp folder...
but i am worried that my RUU program will not start because of the error (RUU crashing)... thoughts?
update: i found the rom.zip.. thanks!
The RUU download from the shipped ROM thread gives and error every time.
So what I did was to look it up on Google and got the correct RUU which is about 300+mb. RUU flashed correctly and then I S-ON with fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
The pain was to get the correct RUU without giving me errors.
Edit: I downloaded 1.29 RUU then updated to 1.45 then S-ON.

[Q] Need help my Htc desire S wouldn´t boot

Hello guys,
I have a big problem!!!! I hope you can help me!!!
I flashed my HTC Desire S (model S510e) a few weeks ago... it works wirly good
then the new Htc Sense 3.0 withe Gingerbread 2.3.5 released.
I want to flash it but I need an S-ON Hboot so I take it to S-On again.
But the problem is that I have installed an Custem rom from VirtousUnity 2.39
and now the Hboot told me *** Security Warning*** **** what should I do now?
I have it downgraded from hboot 0.98.0002 to 0.98.0000 to get S-On again.
And then I would flash the new RUU from HTC.. Now I could only boot into the bootloader and
when I want to install the RUU with the HTC utillity it told me error 140...
It was an Htc Desire with T-Mobile branding From Germany I´ve debranded it and installed VirtousUnity
with 4EXT Recovery...

You badly needed a GoldCard. I would suggest to RUU first to the latest version, 2.xx then downgrade if need be. You have already downgraded your HBOOT. The only thing your missing is RUU. But RUU is giving you an error. Now you need a GoldCard.
A lot of guides, steps, and tutorials are found on the forum. No need to place it here.

Yes I know that I need an GoldCard and I also had the cid but it won´t work ... -.- thats the problem

There are a lot of threads on how to make a GoldCard even without a phone. Check also my sig as thats the method I use. Use search for others.
No GoldCard = phone un-usable.
See index for gold card thread, see sig for link
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
Non of the suggested methods will get the CID, cause they rely on the phone being booted or adb, since the phone is booting into fastboot and no custom recovery means no adb.

the RUU should work.
make sure u go through it carefully.
I used the 1.29 ruu today on my hboot 1.23 ICS sensation
The RUU failed the first time but gave me some menus which flashed somekind of recovery files
then i ran the RUU again and it proceeded normally

Thank you I will try that.
I tried the RUU recovery and it didn't trigger or do anything, I followed all instructions.. The FASTBOOT still says Update Failed and Security failed or something like that. I also tried flashing the update in bootloader by extracting the rom.zip from the RUU and no luck.
I have a custom 2.3.4 rom runing fine but my WIFI doesn't turn on, it just says Error. I really need to get this back to stock so I can warranty this phone if the WIFI doesn't come back.
Any more ideas everyone?
Thank you in advance.

Have you tried reset to the default factory, or just RUU with the right version it will overwrite all. [ROM]Shipped Pyramid ROM Collection
Try removing the memcard so that it won't try to load up the new firmware again.

already deleted PG58IMG FROM memry card,,,but main problem is i am not able to access my phone ,,,i am getting bootloops.
So you haven't yet flashed a rom - you have s-off, stock rom? If so you just need to flash the correct firmware for the rom.

my phone is s-offed but bootloader is locked ,should i have to unlock bootloader for flashing custom ICS rom ?

Seemed to have killed phone

I have spent a week driving myself insane with this phone and now it won't boot and I cannot seem to get is back to factory settings.
I tried to follow guides here for rooting but I could not get them to work.
In the end I used this guide (including the unlock bootloader via htcdev) and it got my phone rooted.
I then thought it would be a great idea to install the viper S rom... It was not. Now the phone will not go past the ht sensation logo on boot and I cannot get the firmware here (phone parses the file and then does nothing on the bootloader), the odexed stock image here or the any other image like this to install.
Please can someone tell me how to get this phone working again?
This whole thing has really stressed me out, I would be really grateful if someone could just give me some simple instructions. An image to flash via clockwork would be great. I have tried for days to do it my self but am starting to go crazy.

the problem is when you are flashing a rom when you are S-ON it has not the ability to flash the boot partition by itself
you have to flash the boot.img of the rom manually or
flash 4ext recovery ,enable smartflash from it and then flash the rom.see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
edit:in order to upgrade your firmware you have to be S-OFF
