[HELP]IMEI and Baseband Strange Problem - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Before everything happened, I was using CM10.2 Alpha 4.
Then one day when I wake up in the morning, the phone IMEI and baseband became unknown by itself.(Previously it's working perfectly)
I tried many ways to recover it and then I found out something.
I flashed the phone to stock rom(DDLF2), when I inserted the SIM card, the IMEI and baseband will become unknown.
When I removed the SIM card, the IMEI and baseband is showing normally.
So, the IMEI and baseband become unknown by its own whenever I inserted the SIM card.
However, if I flashed the phone to CM10.2, it will show unknown regardless of the SIM card has been inserted or not.
So, first question, is my IMEI working good?
second question, is the SIM card slot has some problem with it?
third question, what's cause it to show unknown when I insert the SIM card and showing normally when I remove the SIM card?
I appreciate any help.
P.S. I have efs backup which it automatically created when I flash cm rom.
EDIT: the SIM card itself is working good, I have tried it with other phone and it works. I have also tried to use other SIM card from other phone which is working perfectly and insert it into my phone but the same problem occurred.

I took a look in alogcat and found that there's an error that is keep repeating itself.
It's about the usbstorageconnector, with IO exception error.
Please help me to identify the error.
And the IMEI and baseband problem still there, and I have no other clues to try to fix it.

Try find your file named mps_code.dat and place in efs/imei folder, set permission to rwxrwx---

It originally has a mps_code.dat inside that folder. I changed the permission and owner/group to radio.
I even tried to copy the file from my earlier efs backup and set the permission and owner/group.
None of them works, it still shows unknown IMEI and baseband.
anyway, thanks for trying to help.

Take out your sim, dial *2767*3855#
Phone full reset, will erase sdcard.
*#272*imei code# change your csc sale code back to original.
Copy back your imei backup and reboot.

I have tried all of it before you post.
First, I only managed to use *#272*IMEI# once and after that I get IMEI unknown but normal baseband.
After I restore back the IMEI, it shows correctly but when I insert the SIM card, it's the same problem again.
After that, I can no longer change the csc using the code again, most of the time it said "Mobile network not available.".
Later on, I reflash it again and again including efs clear and then restore back using the method provided by dhiru.
Now, both of them still showing unknown and even though I remove the SIM card, it still shows unknown.
I wonder if I made thing worse.
Anyway, I'll keep on trying and I'll try to check whether the e-warranty of my phone has been activated when I purchased the phone or not.
If it's not, then I can go to samsung service center and act like a noob.
If it's yes, then the only way is to keep trying.
If you have any more ideas, please share. Thanks.
EDIT: Sadly the e-warranty for my phone has been activated and it has expired.

@chongns Hi, can you help to list down the permission/group/owner of all the files inside the efs folder including the hidden files?
I want to try if these settings make differences...
Thanks

I have another question.
In your post regarding the evaluation to restore imei, is it when you flash stl3.img using heimdall, the md5sum of bml3 will change?
And is your md5sum of nv_data.bin is the same with the one written inside the nv_data.bin.md5?
Thanks for help.
EDIT: I read from somewhere that if *#06# gives you nothing(only IMEI title with no character/digit below it), it is hardware failure. Is it true?
And the signal strength is always 0dBm 0asu.

I have no clue to your question
stl3 and bml3 are partition raw image.
nv data.bin is the system use imei. Those hidden file look important to me also. And md5 file is no use to me, as android will generate new one for the new bin file.
No, blank Imei showed did not mean hardware failure totally, if partition corrupted also show nill.

But my efs partition is correctly mounted and it shows blank too.
I tried many times flashing, many times more restoring efs using various ways including yours, it still shows blank.
At first it only shows blank whenever I insert my SIM card but now it shows blank all the time.

I flashed the efs.tar mentioned by chongns in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2109262 (inside the "old post").
But now I can't get generic IMEI anymore.

If it is mounted. The efs folder will not blank, it will generate a generic nv data.bin file and its md5 file and a log file. And also some other folders.
If it blank, it is not mounted
Maybe u can try check in adb shell by command "df" and "mount"
The command will list out the mounted partitions and information.
You should see stl3, bml3, and /efs in the list.
As my understanding, the partition having few level, (what ever it called)
The lowest is bml3 than stl3 than link to folder /efs.
What we flash from dhiru blank efs tar is into stl3.
It is to link back the connection of stl3 with efs folder.

I'm sure it is mounted as I can go in to the efs folder and set the permissions...
with mount command in adb, I only saw /dev/block/stl3 which is /efs but I didn't see /dev/block/bml3

If you don't have your efs backup, then there's nothing much you can do to restore it.

It will work, but, both phones will have the same IMEI #. That's the reason why no one will share their efs folder (files).

[Q] IMEI lost!!!! please help....

My imei no got lost while restoring backup using cwm..... i looked around the forum and the ".nv_data" method will not do because my efs folder has a file named "essiv" only and nothing else.....
if someone would confirm what files are contained in thier efs folder and mail it to me also i'll be grateful......
I don't think the 'efs folder' of one device can be used with other devices as it contains the device's IMEI number.
Could you elaborate a bit as to what did you do that resulted in the loss of your IMEI number ? It would help others avoid it in future.
Well.... i restored the same backup file couple of times 'coz i was trying to flash a new theme...btw i am on stock indian 2.3.5......
the files in efs folder can be edited using hex editor (read somewhere in the s2 forum...i don't remeber which thread) so the imei no. in that file can be modified...

Ok for friends who have completely corrupted EFS folder then the phone is "without imei" just write this file via ODIN in PDA
mega.co.nz/#!lxdgHCpL!UXThp1fT2HKrTJA_G1czASiKjkkrit-FjVJSwiexPFQ
This file restores EFS with a standard imei 004999010640000 then proceed to restore your imei staff with the method you prefer.
I used Z3X.

Thank you., I got this file with Flash Odin software, but unfortunately the problem is not resolved or you have any suggestions?
After flashing the above file, you need to restore your own imei number, to get the network working. Check the bill for the phone, or the box it came in to find your imei number.
Ok my imei peinted in phone box and i have this number. How to restore this imei number??
Use Z3X. Search here in xda forum for more details.

[Q] Core Plus (SM-G350) - missing nv_data.bin, "Emergency calls only"

Hi guys,
does anyone of you have Core Plus rooted? If yes, can you please look with any file manager to /efs folder? I need to compare whole folder structure with someone who has fully worked phone. Because this phone is showing "Emergency calls only" and I found that my /efs folder is 99% corrupted. My /efs folder has this content (I see there only these sub-folders):
.files
bluetooth
FactoryApp
imei
lost+found
wifi
In folder "imei" I see only these 2 files:
.nvmac.info
mps_code.dat
The problem is that I cannot find there 2 important files nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 (files needed for successful phone registration to network by IMEI number)
Can you please check and let me know, what exactly you see in /efs folder and it's /imei sub-folder?
Thank you very much !!!!
Rado
PS: I rooted my wife's Core Plus but I see in /efs folder exactly the same structure as on mine. But I cannot see nv_data.bin on her phone too !!! And her phone is fully working !!! Why I cannot see nv_data.bin in /efs folder on Galaxy Core Plus? Does it work somehow differently than other Samsung phones???
So it must work differently than other Samsung models. In ODIN I checked boxes:
Re-Partition
Nand Erase All
Phone EFS Clear
but after flashing oficial ROM I still have my good IMEI and SN. There must be some other partition where are nv_ files stored (through EFS Professional I saw there 19 partitions)
I analysed .PIT file and also used EFS Professional and I see that there is 19 partititons:
cal
syspam_dep
param-spml_dep
rf_cal_file
kernel
recovery
modem
reserved
sbl1
sbl2
param
dtsbk
dts
fota_sig
efs
csc
system
hidden
userdata
Can you please specify on which partition is located nv_data.bin ?

The EFS is unique to every phone and it shouldn't be shared (and it can't be). If you did the NAND Erase and the EFS Clear in ODIN without a backup of /efs, you have no options to restore it.
