Multitask window closing randomly? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every now and then when I open up multitasking the window will close itself. I am making sure not to touch near the bottom row of keys. Anyone else getting this?
I apologize if this is answered already I am on a mobile app and can't find a search key.

I have come across this problem as well... a quick fix is pressing the search button on your dock... this should allow you to enter words while hitting the space key...
also, don't think this belongs in the dev section =)

Disable home screen button when keyboard open??

I did some searching to see if this was possible on android and couldn't find any good info.
I am still not used to onscreen keyboards and on the One S in particular I keep hitting the home button when I type (it has happened twice since I started writing this)
Am I the only one with this problem? Does anyone know of a way to disable the home button when the keyboard is up?
Thanks

It seems like a good idea, but is probably very hard. The home button is kinda coded to work the same way always, regardless of what app is open
Yea I kinda pressed the home button too at first but just practice typing without trying to hit the home button and you should be all set, its not easy to type without pressing the home button but it takes some time to get used to...

It's damn near impossible! Been using touchscreen keyboard on different phones for years (how I miss my G1), and never had this problem...I feel like Homer trying to phone his children in that one episode of the Simpsons...."mash the keypad to continue"
Try SwiftKey keyboard, it detects where spaces go so you don't need to press space

[Q] Hardware Key info, Generic.kl

My end goal is to have the phone return to the home screen after waking it up. This question has been asked for many years but there isn't a simple apk to add this feature.
Digging around it seems like we are able to change for sure, but I'm guessing also to add functionality to hardware buttons, power in this case,. While it is not fool proof, adding a step wen "clicking" the power button to put the phone to sleep to return to home screen before the screen goes off seems like the easiest way.
From the other "how to's" on how to re-map buttons brings me to the Generic.kl file from /system/usr/keylayout. There are 5 or so references to the "power".
Can someone point to which key number I want?
How would I add the return to home and still have the screen go off.
Thanks for the help...
Am I the only one that would like to always open their phone to the home screen?

If I am understanding your post correctly,
You can use automate or tasker to set a rule :
If screen off then return to home screen.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tip...
I didn't know about automate, it's prefect... simple and free...

[Q] Nexus 5 Home Buttons

Hey all ,
Just wanted to ask a quick question, I just installed nova launcher on my nexus 5 and there is an option to remove the dock (menu, phone ect..)and oly the home button back and task manager are left at the bottom of the screen. Is there a way to add to the stock buttons e.g. If i want an menu button inbetween the 3 other buttons. I have seen it before but dont really know how to do it. http://tapatalk.com/tapatalk_image....vZC8xNC8wMS8xNi9vcmlnaW5hbC9lOWVydWh1ai5qcGc= Just the bottom bit.
Thx for the help
I use apex and just use gestures like swipe down to hide dock and swipe up to view dock....probably same on nova.
Edit might have miss read your question.

I'm using an app called soft keyz, you have to pay but it's alright and it has those ps looking ones.

Anyway to access multi window without recents button.

I liked how it used to be by pressing and holding the back button to bring up the multi window side panel. I can't seem to find anyway to bring it up. Please don't tell me using the recents button is the only way. I liked how on the note 4 you could just press one of the multi window apps and it would open up as a pop up.

Never understood why Samsung still restricts certain apps from being used in multi windows. Back in the days, I would have to root to be able to use whatever app for MW.
With the app open, I just swipe from the very top left corner to the middle and it opens up pop up.
I haven't seen any other way to get the actual split screen though

You can open multi window three ways.
First you need to have a multi-window / split screen
compatible app open then swipe:
#1: recents long press (split screen)
#2: diagonally top left towards right bottom of screen
#3: diagonally top right towards the left bottom of screen
Good luck,
Have a great day!
