I meant without using adb push, just drag and drop.

I'm not sure if you can mount storage

twrp has a built in file manager, i believe its in advanced settings. I always use that to move files

[Q] What's a file explorer that can r/w to OTG USB?

I have the meenova micro SD OTG reader and the only way i can access files from through my phone is from TWRP when i flash roms and such. I want to be able to move files back and forth from my phone using the Meenova but i've only seen peopl;e suggest nexus importer but it doesn't really work for me that well, I'm using root explorer right now and it doesn't let me access my usb otg. Basically i want a file explorer that let's me use the meenova to move files and not have to boot into twrp to have to do it and i dont want to have to pay a fortune for an app that will let me do this.
Hi,
Take a look for these apps: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=stickmount&c=apps&hl=fr.
Apps like Stickmount have a free version, you can test... After that I use Root Explorer without any issue.

Re,
Yes , for my usage I use Stickmount (the free version). Once the USB is mounted I can move, copy, delete the files. With Root Explorer the path is /sdcard/usbStorage/sda1.
Depends what you want to do. Apps like stickmount are ok if you just want to read/write data on the card through a file explorer. However since these apps dont mount correctly (mount in sdcard for non-root users), they're useless if you want to move game data onto usb otg. Fir that you need it mounting in /storage so custom kernel like chaos is what you'd need

Im sorry, I don't understand the question. Does purity say it automounts USB otg in its list of features? Most roms / kernels do not offer this.
I only know 1 kernel and 1 rom that does. Chaos kernel and Mahdi rom. This doesn't mean more don't do it but I don't know the features if every rom or kernel.
Browse to /storage on the root of your device to see what's there

Sorry, and it does not mention it in the ROM features and I don't have the USB otg with me at the moment I'm in school. But here is what it shows me now.
*note* the SDA 1 is what I just added to see if it would mount there later on as vicking said above.

The attachment doesn't work.
If you use stickmount, it will mount to /storage/sdcard0/usbStorage/sda1
Chaos kernel mounts to /storage/USBdisk
You don't create anything yourself. It creates as and when required

[Q] Can't 100% access /sdcard

Hello, I have had experience with a Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, while skipping the Nexus 4 to try out the SG3, I have returned to the Google Experience.
I remember having partitioned the S and GS to have an Internal Memory, thus also allowing me to ADB push to its home, as well as being able to drag NDBackups to my computer.
With the Nexus 5, part one was unlock, recovery, and root. I have successfully done so, though having to mess with directories to grab SuperUser for some reason- this should not have affected /sd card.
I could not successfully adb push SU.zip/ sdcard, and
a)view /sdcard on my pc
b)install zip from SDcard and see the file, there was /0 /legacy and /oob
I have googled, I have searched to the best of my keywording abilities, and find answers on Why Nexus doesnt have sd articles, and other things like Nexus 4 and 7 results that don't help.
So if anyone would mind, giving me instructions to create or open the partition, I would appreciate it.
You need to be booted into recovery first. Then mount /sdcard from the recovery menu.
If you can't mount /sdcard, mount /data and push to /data/media/0

UI didn't get a mount /sdcard option at all to touch or select, which is strange. I did however download clockword MLD and found an option to partition SDCard. I'm going to see if that mad a change and post back. Thanks rootsu
The push method helped a lot. Love the learning experience

Wait? You're not going to "partition sdcard" are you? DON'T

Dude, treat it as it was a Galaxy Nexus. Haven't had any problems with adb on both.

Thats what I did, is there a reason I should not. During my GS3 days, my Nexus ways became rusty. Nothing bad has happened yet, not that I have noticed. BTW, yes, the mount /data helped.
Anyways, what about the CWM option to -mount USB Storage
That doesn't seem to operate. Is this how it is for the N5?

Jeez, man really? You're lucky it seems to do nothing. This is for phones with an external sdcard with small internal memory (200MB for example) where it takes the external sdcard and creates an ext partition on it. This is NOT for your phone. Please never touch this again. Lucky you didn't do harm!

The nexus 5 isn't a USB storage device.

Hmm then I'm very out of the loop. I've been able to access the SD card and internal memory I'm sure from cwm in the past.
I figured since my Nexus S had a /sdcard that's what the partition was for. Glad it didn't brick, but I wonder if it did anything at all? I guess I'll find out or not at all. Agian, thanks.

It probably did nothing. You would next have been asked what size partition you want to make so if that didn't happen, sounds like it simply failed

It asked, but nothing happened. I think it just got confused and looked at me weird.
Probably as you don't have a dedicated /advanced partition - but its lucky

How to extract EFS backup files

Exactly. That's no good reason for it
need to modify some nv item values
Is there a chance those image files are encrypted? I'm thinking that it would be a security hole if you could tamper with the info contained within and then restore the modded image file in recovery. The image partitions would likely be formatted as ext4 so any Linux system should be able to mount such a partition.

The partitions are raw emmc format. Can't think of a legal reason to mod these. Its not like samsung where these files need fixing

Removing Content Upon Flashing a ROM

Hi there, how are y'all doing?
Well.. I was looking into installing a ROM on my Nexus 5, and I just wondered...
I had a Galaxy S3 before that, and when I installed ROMs on it, I used to copy the ROM zip file to my SD Card, remove everything from my phone's internal memory, and install the ROM from the external SD Card, that way there was NOTHING left on the phone that I previously had.
Now, I want to do the same thing with my Nexus 5, but guess what... It has no external SD Card option :\
What can I do? Is there any way to install a ROM and delete EVERYTHING I had in my phone before?
Thanks.
just wipe data before you flash.
You can't easily do what you want. Best bet would be to get a otg usb stick and use it for your rom. Otherwise, you'd have to wipe your sdcard and sideload a rom in adb. Or just wipe your sdcard boot into system, and copy and paste the rom. Then boot into recovery and do your normal wipes

Is using a single extra command really all that hard though?
"adb push <rom> /sdcard/<rom>"

It is for the people that used a toolkit and have no idea what adb is..

Ah, I would never use the toolkit unless I know how to do things manually as well.
I like knowing what the toolkit is doing incase something goes wrong.
Why do you want to wipe all your photos and videos etc? You don't need to to flash a rom

I've never ever wiped my internal SD on any device.
Unless you're just housekeeping? But you don't have to, at all.

[Q] Easy to way to Backup the whole SD on Nexus 5?

Hi all,
I want to do a full bakcup of my SD, apps, music, documents, pictures, everthing. I've tried using the MTP method but it crash while loading the list of files to copy or during the copy operation. Are there other way, maybe even faster than MTP, to do a whole backup of my SD? Thanks
I'm on Windows 7 x64, Mahdi ROM, TWRP 2.8.0.1 (MTP on recovery never worked for me if you ever wondered)
I use foldersync. Backs up to my NAS over WiFi as I sleep. Not fast but doesn't need to be.
There is nothing fast over cable.

What about something more "reliable" over cable instead of MTP (i mean the drag&drop method)?

MTP = no mass storage
no mass storage = no alternative
As per previous suggestion, try folder sync
