I just recently had this problem. I tried flashing PSX ROM and managed to mess it up. So I had to restore back to my original backup. Before trying to flash a ROM, my phone never had problems. Today my phone restarted on its own 5 times within 10 minutes. I have Franco kernel right now. Anyone else have any restarting problems by any chance? If not, I'm about to unroot

You don't need to unroot. Just wipe system, data, and the caches and then restore your backup.

Starting yesterday my phone started freezeing during calls. I pull the phone away from my face during a call and after the screen comes back on I can't press any buttons or end the call. I have to end up pulling the battery to reset it. Everything else is working fine. Anyone have any idea what the world is going on here?
More info would help. Are you running stock or a specific ROM?

I had this problem while running stock deodexed roms. I switched to just the leaked roms and it took care of the problem.

Try doing a factory reset.
Tried factory reset, tried gtg's ultimate unbrick to go back to froyo and nothing. Also tried rooting and installing cyanogenmod but my phone kept booting i to android recovery mode instead of clockwork recovery for some reason

my friend has the same issue fixed by:
Wiping Data and doing a complete factory reset.
For the very first time I noticed this today. I think this has something to do with some random app we installed. Mine hung today even on incoming calls. A reboot fixed though.
Here's what's going on. I flashed an aosp rom(all I ever use). Didn't like it and restored a previous rom I had backed up(I do this all the time). After the restore was done or so i thought the phone just rebooted and wouldn't load anything past the Samsung screen just black and then reboot followed by the same thing. I pulled the battery loaded up recovery manually and tried another backup I had and same thing. I finally ended up going back into recovery manually again and loaded up a rom. It worked but now the phone won't wipe I forget what it says when I try to wipe. Iv since loaded up several roms with the same wipe errors and all seems good. Just weird. I'm using twrp btw. Any ideas on what happened?

Well, if you're GS3 is running then I wouldn't worry too much. However it couldn't hurt to make a nandroid, restore back to stock, and redo the STOCK>root>unlock>flash recovery>flash rom process. You may have messed something up along the way. Either way, happy flashing. PS: you should try out paranoidkangdroid if you love the AOSP experience. CM base with a ton of tweakability.
Anybody else ever experience anything like this?

A thought.... I flashed a wrong kernel once, I would see the boot animation, then black screen. Maybe you have a wrong kernel?

Today i decided to go custom with my nexus s. I installed helly bean rom from nexus hacks. The ROM seemed to work fine until i used titanium backup to restore my data+settings. After restoring, I rebooted and since then was unable to make a call, send a message etc. I flashed back to 4.1.2 official via nandroid. Since then, every time I connect my phone to my computer and touch to enable usb, the phone reboots . Any ideas? I tried taking out the battery for 5 mins and then replacing it which helped to connect. After 1/2 an hour the phone rebooted again..... what should I do??

Maybe I was not able to convey my message properly. I've switched back to official 4.1.2 jb using nandroid. the reboot issue has started since then...

Use Nexus Root Toolkit, flash back to stock (via bricked option) and start over..
Let me start by saying that I am not new to flashing Roms on my devices, that being said I have never had an LG phone till now.
When I go in to Twrp and try to flash a new rom or even wipe it tells me it can't mount system. I've tried fixing permissions but nothing helped. I ended up having to use Nexus tool to restore phone to stock. (lost everything on phone)
I got the phone rooted and flashed carbon rom but decided that I wanted to flash a rom with 4.4.1 and same thing happened with phone not able to mount system. This time I was able to restore a Twrp backup I had and then flash the stock 4.4.1 rom available on this forum.
Is there something with this phone that is different then flashing on others? Can't seem to flash more then once without going back to stock? I have 2 nexus 7's 2012 & 2013 models and everything seems fine on these have flashed numerous Roms without a hitch.
I came from GS3 and have Asus prime, Motorola, HTC and just about every other manufacturers device in my house. Why is this one giving me so much issues.
Also battery won't charge past 77% now. Any ideas?

the battery percentage should be an issure with your custom rom, for the mounting problem... are you using the latest version of twrp? - and maybe you could try cwm ( i recommend that always ) - also, no there isn't a difference in flashing things on an lg device, as log it's an nexus one

I would try: fastboot flash cache cache.img. use cache.img from the 4.4 factory image.

Thanks for the response. The battery issue has resolved itself by running battery down to 0%and recharging.
I will give CWM a try. Maybe.
I've noticed that before I started flashing Roms I ran stock go 2 weeks and was consistently getting almost 5 hours of screen time. Coming for the GS3 I was amazed but since I've started using custom rooms I'm barely getting 3.
Going to test this out some before I do too much more flashing.

Check it out. That was on stock in the first couple of days of getting the phone. But once I started flashing Roms it has only been about 3. Going to try stock for another while see if I can reproduce the amazing battery life I first had.

Thanks, I've never tried that but am willing to give it a shot after I finish my testing of battery life on stock compared to custom roms.
For some reason I am getting about 2 hours more screen time with stock then with custom rom.

UPDATE: 07-04-14 5:25pm EST:
I was able to get all my data off using a mac. I re-flashed Purity ROM after doing a full wipe. I have now re-installed all most of my apps and have begun normal use. For now this is resolved hopefully I have no further issues. Thanks for the response @Kreateablaze Much appreciated.
So here is a brief history about what I did and what I am experiencing. I am pretty much a newb here so please be gentle and excuse my ignorance.
Just in case you don't want to read my book below:
TLDR: rooted phone, Installed TWRP, installed Purity Rom, system failed hardcore, cant get data off my phone because explorer crashes. I just want to get my data off so I can re-install a ROM or just flash back to stock and re-lock the bootloader.....
-Unlocked bootloader, rooted, and installed TWRP using "Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit"
(just want to give props to any one involved in that tool, it is an amazing tool and worked flawlessly!)
-After running the toolkit, I was successfully rooted and running TWRP.
-I ran a back up using TWRP. Is that what is referred to as a "Nandroid" back up?
-After running this back up I installed "Purity ROM"
-For the first 24 hours everything was fine.
-I had to reboot my N5 due to an app that was acting up and a reboot usually cleared up the issue if force stopping didn't. (an app I used before rooting and I knew how to fix the issue I was having, I don't think this is related to my issue.)
-After rebooting the phone, I was faced with a pop up stating something along the lines of android UI has stopped working. I clicked okay, unlocked the phone it flashed black with my home screen icons and everything went back to normal. I rebooted the phone again just to make sure that was a one time fluke. This time The phone was in an endless crash cycle. Every process I could think of was crashing non stop the phone was unusable. I did some research and found something that said to go into TWRP and run a permissions repair.
-After running permissions repair my phone booted back up and was working relatively okay.
-After the repair rebooting my N5 results in that same UI crash I got the first time. BUT the phone is usable, and that process never crashes again unless I reboot.
-After running that permissions repair some of my apps disappeared. Trying to re-install them results in a -24 error. I got a few of them to re-install by clearing related data in data/data folder. A few of my apps refuse to re-install even though there is no trace of the data in the data/data folder.
-Another issue I am having after all of this is that I can NOT pull any data off of the phone. I plug it in, Windows recognizes the phone but it takes about 10-15 minutes to load the folder structure. I am then unable to copy any of the data off of the phone. Explorer crashes and I cant get the data off. UPDATE: I was able to get the data of the phone by using a friends Mac. I will post an update with some more info.
-I need to get my data off the phone before I can continue but am unable to. Any help would here would be greatly appreciated.
-Also if any one knows a more stable ROM with a similar feature set to Purity that is fast, has good battery life and isn't packed to the gills with features tht may one day cause more issues that they are worth. Please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys may be able to offer me.
Well I'm not too sure what your issue could be, but purity is one of the most stable roms on here... Have you looked in the purity thread for posts saying the same thing happened? I highly doubt it is the rom.

I would definitely agree that something went wrong rather than the ROM being unstable..... Any idea about how to get my data off the phone. at this point that is my main concern so I can re-flash purity....

I'm not too sure, I never had to get the data off my phone using a computer, always just used titanium backup. Maybe try reflashing purity, just wipe cache not any data.
