PRoblem with lost photos/videos on GT2-P5100, 4.0.3. - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
Like in topic, I've got GAlaxy Tab 2 with 4.0.3. I didn't make backup before updating him to 4.1.2 and i lost a lot of photos and videos (really important files for me). Now tablet is clean, I didnt make any new images. Is there a chance to get them back? If someone can help me with this
I'll be really happy.
I tried Dr. Fone for Android, but this GT2 has no mass storage mode option and is not visible to this software. There is no problem to root tablet to make this option visible.
Plz tell me what should I install and how to do it.
Thx in advance.

There are chances that your data in internal memory is not deleted....
Try this..
Open root browser..
Go to /storage/sdcard0
You might find your past data there.....
And imp. Step
Hit thanks button if it works

Unfortunately it didn't help. Any other solutions?

Ya..... U have aroma file manager??? If not then get one.....
Open aroma file manager from CWM recovery
Open /sdcard
There u might get ur file....

Surely not?!
However, If that is the only answer, an explanation would be nice as a factory reset seems a little extreme don't u think?

You probably have to go into either;
- /system/app/; or
- /data/app/directory and delete the odex file that has the same name.
Example: If you cannot install Titanium Back Up. Navigate to /data/app/ and find titanium.odex. Remove it and now you can install titanium.
Hope it help :fingers-crossed:

I already saw that solution elsewhere but doesn't work. I cant install any app apart from some.
This might sound stupidly simple but, are you sure you just aren't low on space from music or movies, etc...?

Do factory Reset and through CWM Recovery Restore your setting and Apps from NAND Backup (if only you created one)..
ok guys - just sorted it.
i installed app2sd at some point and i think i was trying to get it to install by default to my sd card. problem is that the old tab 7.7 doesnt support installing to sd. So what was happening it was just giving me a no error message. i used Super manager 3 to default back to the device memory, rebooted and all ok now.
sorry for my stupidity. but shame on the amount of users telling me to do a factory reset - thank god i didnt listen to y'all!!

I faced the same problem with my Xperia ZR after playing with Link2SD.
Fixed it with starting the terminal and typing:
Code:
su
pm set-install-location 1
pm get-install-location
Resut is 1[internal], and the apps are now installing.

1st don't post thread like this in development section ...2nd regarding your problem I know what u have done wrong ....u tried to integrate update to system which changed ur file system or messed up ur file system ....now d things u have to do if u have taken any backup of ur rom previously then restore it ...ur problem will be solved .....and remember don't ever try to integrate update to system ....Google play got updat now and then ...don't try to integrate this update or any system app update ...best of luck
Dont post ques in dev section...
And you just need to do a clean install of the same rom...
I'm sorry I posted it by mistake.
But thnx for ur reply.
And let me know if i can delete my post.
And does clean install mean i have to delete dalvik cache, format system and clean data from recovery mode then fresh install the rom ??
Or just install rom once again without wiping anything ?

[Q]Folder Shortcuts (Folder1 -> Folder2)

Hi there!
Iam searching for something like this quite a long time.
I dont want Shortcuts on my homescreen, what iam searching for, is a way to create shortcuts in the folder system like we have a couple in the system root of our devices. (Cant move or copy those existing ones)
Basically i want a shortcut from sdcard to external sdcard because there are some usefull apps with a crappy explorer to search its files. Not working with shortcuts made by windows. Is it even possible?
Thanks for advises...

Create a new folder to /mnt/sdcard
Type this in terminal:
$ su
# mount -o bind /mnt/sdcard/extStorages/SdCard /mnt/sdcard/the-name-of-the-folder-you-created

Thanx a lot!!
This will make everything much easier...
For cm users, the path is: /mnt/emmc /mnt/sdcard/name-of-the-folder-you-created

Oh, forgot to mention that you need to do this on every time the device has rebooted. Or do an init.d script to do it automatically on boot.
Sent from my GT-P6210
Yeah, i noticed that..
And just to be sure: After i bound the path to the folder i created and i delete it, will this path i just bound also be deleted? Or just the folder i created?
Thanx man... greetings from australia!

It will delete all the files but not the folder, just tested out of curiosity and wiped my whole SD...
So unbind it first before trying to delete the folder.
Sent from my GT-P6210
Jesus... xD.
Sounds funny but I feel sorry cause I actually could have tried this by myself.
At least, we are all warned now...
Unbind is just: mount -o unbind ...... ??
Of course, I could delete scripts and reboot, but just to be sure, u know??
I hope u had a backup...
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda app-developers app
You need to unmount the folder you have bound your SD:
umount /path-to-the-bind-folder
I had a bit old backup, and also got many deleted files recovered with Recuva, so not a big problem

Found an app solution what is doing exatly the same: Directory Bind
Probably not in the Play store. Found it in Fireplace Market(another alternative play store for apps you will never find in the play store)
Or just google it! Have fun guys! And thanks again!

Is there a way to flash the “dictionary” in? Also when I screen shot it appears as if it captures the picture but never shows up in my files. IDK if this has anything to do with but when I reboot it says that all screen shots will be move to SD card to free up space. I’ve went through all my files I’m sure it’s not there even did a search. I wiped the caches and user data and reloaded the rom a few times already... Any help would be greatly appreciated… Some guy posted a link for a LatinIME.apk but when I flash that it fails in regards to the fix for the dictionary..

Your not supposed to flash the apk, you just replace the LatinIME.apk in the systems folder with the one he provided.
Hope this helped!

Hi folks...
First of all I know a lit t le bit what rooting is and what you can do but that's basically it. ..
I have an issue that's bothering me. .. I bought a used mega and it's rooted. Now I'm running out of internal space and I wanted to free some space up. Now i found a zip file with the name "Cassies XLR I9205 V2 DEOD EDITION THUNDERBOLTED" on it and it has almost 1 GB. My question is, can I delete that? And I found a TWRP folder that has 6 GB. Can someone please help me out and tell me if I sho Iuld keep those or ifi can delete them.
Thanks in advance and have a good night

"Cassies XLR I9205 V2 DEOD EDITION THUNDERBOLTED" should be a flashable rom (The file contains a android operating system that you can flash to the phone) I suppose that this rom is actually installed. TWRP is a "custom recovery" which is an tool installed on the phone to install roms or perform backups. The TWRP folder has probably 6GB as there are already backups in it. If you don't need the backups it should be safe to delete the TWRP folder or just delete the contained backups.
Yup thats a rom you can delete it if u are done for flashing that rom
