[Q] No sim error, Tape fix didn't work - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello! Guys, Im going to say it straight forward, I'm frustrated. I bought an AT&T HTC One X and it simply doesnt read the sim card. I'm from Dominican Republic and I bought it from someone here so warranty wont work and the seller disappeared (YEAH, he robbed me in a sense) I tried the tape method and nothing... Ive read countless threads about this and came up with this idea: Let's buy a sim card reader from ebay along with a new sim card tray and just try with that. What do you guys think? Is there another easier method other than tape?
Thanks in advance for your help.

What carrier? AT&T in Dom Rep?

The 4S one is the same. As long as it is orange / blue
Ok cool so there's not a specific SIM for LTE?

All orange / blue ones are LTE compatible, regardless of size.
The blue / white ones are HSPA only.
The older ones have less storage too. (not that anyone store contacts on a SIM anymore)
Thanks. I realized a few minutes ago that the question is moot because I got a go phone today and it of course has a larger SIm
I need a sim adapter so I can switch back and forth

Go phone SIMs are different too. Those can't be switched to any other phone

Ditto. Between the micro-sim ( can't fall back easily to my HTC Vivid ) - the perma-locked bootloader ( HTC, rolling over for AT$T on this makes kittens cry ) - and no micro-sd - I'm really starting to debate picking up the HOX today ( even though I'm up for full subsidy )
But I digress... anyone have experience chopping a normal sim to make an adapter?

Rogers sells combination sim/micro sim cards. If you get one of those, and carefully cut out the larger sim piece, it makes an excellent adapter. I found that the plastic ones you can buy elsewhere would tend to get stuck in the phone and require a scary amount of force to get out.

[Q] so i got my free sim card unlock code but

i cant find anyone with a micro sim card to put it in my phone lol i forget this phone has the micro sim card for whatever reason. can i just get one somewhere for free or something? my mom and grandma have at&t but idk if they will give them one for free. i just wanna make sure the sim unlock code works that tmobile gave me lol
The phone comes with one. What happened to it? You can also buy them on Amazon if you need to.

well i need an at&t micro sim card so i can boot up my phone and it will ask me to enter the unlock code that tmobile provided me so i can use my phone for at&t now.
Get a sim card cutter and adapter from amazon/ebay. they are like 2 bucks.
Use a sim cutter to make it into a micro sim. Or if you want to risk cutting it yourself then you can do it too. I did that with my t-mobile sim card and cut it with a pair of scissors . Why would you use the One S on AT&T when you can get the One X running on their network. I am a little confused what you are trying to do though
cut it yourself or go onto the carrier website and order one
here in the UK the sim cards are free

Amazon sells AT&T pre paid sims, but you'll probably end up having to buy some minutes with it. But, then at least you can verify it works once unlocked.

I'm on a TMO plan. I got an unlock code, went on ebay and got an AT&T micro sim for $3 shipped. Swapped sims and entered unlock code. Removed the AT&T sim and reinserted the TMO sim.

Could anyone who has used an unlock code to successfully unlock their phone take a look at this thread and see if you can help?
We are close to getting a free sim unlock hack for all but need a few contributors for testing purposes.
Thanks!

which website to carrier unlock LG p925g?

Hey everyone,
A friend from canada just gave me his old p925g phone that is locked on rogers and I've been looking online but there doesn't seem to be a free way to sim unlock this phone. Many people seem to have had some success unlocking this phone through some websites by paying and I was wondering if you guys could share which website you used?
There are many websites just by googling this, but I've never used this kind of service and I'm quite sure many websites are scams so I was hoping someone here could confirm a successful unlock with the name of the service used.
Thanks!

There was a cheaper service but couldn't find.
@arsen4oo
Thanks for the link, cheaper then $1.99?? this price is already good for me!
Have you personally used this? How did it go? you bought this and then they sent you a letter to your home with the unlock code?
I'll look for the link and post it, I already tried a Site and it took no more than 5mins to receive the code via email.

I still have one more question, I saw this on the website: "You will also need a sim card from the network that are currently mobile phone is working. Sim card will be needed when you will entering unlock code to Your phone."
Did you use it to unlock? I'm in France and I don't have the sim card. My friend cancelled his plan at rogers and now lives in japan so there's no way to get the sim card.
Well what it means is that you need a sim that actually works when inserting the code. I used the sim that worked typed the code then my phone was ready to accept any sim card.

well... it seems like i wont be able to unlock it then, being in france its gonna be hard to find anyone that has a rogers sim card...
thanx for the help!

You don't need Rogers sim card to unlock Rogers phone when inserting the code. You're supposed to use non-Rogers sim to get that locked screen to insert the code. And I don't think you need a working sim to unlock, as long as not a Rogers sim. I used one my old overseas sim from asia trip to unlocked my rogers phone

Does the ATT HTC One X have problems with Tmobile GBA sim card?

Hey guys, I see that the internation version of the HTC One X has problems with the GBA sim cards and I apparently have one as well and plan on cutting mine to the microsim size but before I do so does the ATT version of the One X have problems with the T-mobile GBA sim cards?
Also is there a free unlock solution for this phone? Seller told me it was unlocked but I am not sure if it is the person was actually very shady and the phone apparently was a bit beat up but was hard to tell at the location I met them at to purchase.
Thanks for all your help.
I trimmed down a T-mobile sim card and used it just to get the unlock prompt. It worked for that purpose. I don't see why it wouldn't work on T-Mobile except that the 4g LTE frequencies might be different. So you might not get 4g on T-Mobile.
You can get an unlock code on ebay for $4. Very easy. And very fast.

Edit: Lame. Questions don't go in general.

The 3G frequencies are different too.. All you'll get on TMO using an ATT phone is Edge.
(Hopefully mods will move this to Q&A)

Question on unlocking phone

Hi everyone. I have 2 Sony Xperia Ion smartphones from ATT that I would like to sell. ATT finally emailed me my unlock codes. In order to unlock my phones it says I need a different SIM card. Looking on eBay I see T-Mobile prepaid activated and inactivated micro SIM cards. What is the easiest and cheapest way to get my phones unlocked to proceed with my listings. I don't know anyone with T-Mobile around my home. Thanks Pete
