I seem to have terrible voice quality during calls when using a wired headset with mic. The other end reports extremely quiet and muffled voice on my side.
I've tried other pairs of headsets and it seemed the same. Also tried them on my computer and they seem to sound find, so probably not my headset's problem.
Is it a common problem? Any mods that will improve the quality?
Apparently like the Nexus 4 this phone doesn't have an amplifier or something so when you use headphones with a mic the sound is really low.

As you all know that using 3rd party headphones with standard 3.5mm jack has always been an issue with the i9000. I just found out today that my 5 years old Philips SBC HS520 headset works fine with the i9000, amazing sound quality comparing to the stock headphones or even some of the entry level Senheiser. Bare in mind this headset was really cheap and the bass is more than adequate for linkin park. What I would like to discuss is that if anyone else has found any headphones that is good quality and works well with the I9000?
Im using Philips SHH1112 adapter and it works great together with my Sony NUDE earphones. The Sony works well too when connected to the galaxy directly.
There's a super cheap adapter that I've been using with HTCs.. Doesn't work here. I suspect its a size tolerance issue.

For normal audio any head(ear)phone with a 3.5mm jack will work. The problem is getting the mic working on a call. I have used numerous in ear earphones, a headphone, a PC speaker system, the auxiliary input of my car Audio system, etc.. they all work. But have to take them off to make a call, unless I use an adapter with a built in mic (i.e Nokia AD-54 or a Bluetooth headset).
That's not the case - every standard headphone I've used works perfectly fine. Maybe you are referring to head/earphones with mic...
Anyway - I use the creative ep-630 and music sounds fantastic. You can pick these up for under $20...

A little pissed that no headphone plus came with the phone, si I haven't tested, however it appears that my car audio input it not working on the g2x I can hear the caller, but they can't hear me has anyone tested phone calls using ear plugs?
When I plug into my car input, the external phone mic appears to be turned off and I can hear callers, but they can't hear me.
On my vibrant, I use my car speakers to listen and the phone mic to talk
Is there a way to keep the phone mic on when the jack is plugged in?
when using the head phones on my phone it still sends the audio to the speaker. The phone recognizes that something is plugged in but it still plays through the speaker on the phone. My guess it's a software bug. Can anyone confirm?

Hello,
I have bought skullcandy 50/50 with volume buttons and microphone.
When I plug in the earphones to my A2 and make a call the built-in microphone in the A2 still working!
so people who talk with hear from two microphones.
This is really annoying because I can't put the phone in the pocket because this make noise.
How can I disable the built-in phone mic while I use the earphones.
Thank!

Hey! I have an audio problem with my device. When i just play some music with google play using my headphones (that came with galaxy 3 that i have) it sounds like i am hearing in low quality and i can't hear some parts that are playing. For example, sometimes i can't hear the singer singing or the guitar plays. Kinda like my device is playing stereo and my headphones gets only one side.
It's worth mentioning that i tried other headphones, which didn't help much. I have tried other audio apps also and got the same results.
I have searched for an answer to the situation for quite some time now and didn't find any.
Thank you
I
Either there's a problem with the headphones (but you imply it is the same across different ones), or they are not plugging in properly. Is the jack in fully? Is there something lurking in the socket that might stop the jack from connecting?

the problem is that this issue happens with other headphones too.
maybe you should try to loose the headphone jack a little bit, hope this works
Well i tried playing a little with the jack but no luck...
what do you mean by "loose the headphone jack a little bit" ?
I don't want to cause any physical damage ...
Either the jack was incorrectly installed or the jack is defective. I would RMA the unit if I were you.

Today I had an issue where my volume was all the way up and the phone plugged into the receiver wouldn't work. The s3 I have here would play just fine though.

Several people have mentioned that the speakers crackle. Is it only the speakers, or is it a sound related problem in general? I almost never use phone speakers. I usually either use headphones or a bluetooth speaker.
Mine doesn't. It could change with certain frequencies being played of course.

Same here. Haven't used a wired headset or bluetooth stereo headset yet (jaybirds) but the boom speakers full blast from rock to rap to classical all sound amazing!
I have three of these and all of them are fine at the highest volume.

When I use the audio out on the M8 with headphones or with a wire to my AUX input on the car, I get a very annoying crackling. This happens only on voice calls. Music, video all sound perfect.
