Hello just want to share my s-off experiece.
I used facepalm s-off.
Problems:
1.)Makes my phone very lag in all kind of rom even flashing stock ruu.
2.)Battery stuck at 77% (always restart if you drain your battery)
3.)Red text at settings>about>tell htc and error reporting
This is a test device. Accordingly, to collect critical
information about the device, Tell HTC is enabled and
cannot turned off regardless of device setting
Solution

When you hijack your device that red text comes about as described in the OP. However, when you remove the tampered flag (so I noticed, personally) that mess goes away. I knew what he was talking about because I thought it was annoying myself. But it isn't there anymore ever since I found that exploit in my other thread.

Thank you for your help in advance

@Darkmind don't see the issue cuz pictures r not clear enough or enlarged enough on each screen but the one on the left is normal, just can't see what the one on the right says (sorry) also more description would be nice

The right one is the bootloader, but yeah, cant really tell the important info such as hboot etc.
But how is it bricked? what does it do? What doesnt work etc?
Generally though, if you can get into bootloader you can fix the device, but theres always some exceptions.
AW: Could this phone be repaired ?
It's an service offered on eBay an the owner said that some update went wrong. In my opinion it's totally fixable I add 2 zoomed pics

Its okay go for it , already an unlocked bootloader

Just use and follow 'Hasoon's All In One Kit', should be good to go?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Honestly they probably forgot to fast boot the kernel. Just run a RUU (After you relock the bootlaoder) and request for the Unlock_code.bin from the seller.

Don't anyone take this the wrong way including the OP, we night need to instruct in newb terms just so he can get this done.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
From the look of it, all you need to do is flash a recovery(TWRP), flash a rom, fastboot flash the boot.img and you should be good to go.
How to perform each step is listed in several guides already.
So awhile back when I had my inspire I checked into unlocking it, and found the forum on here about the aahk advanced hack kit. I just recently started messing with it since I have a new phone. I've had some problems with rooting it. First time the process went about halfway through then quit. Now every time you try it the process will not cooperate and gives an error. Anyone have any suggestions for a noob like me to try and help in any way? Anything is appreciated.

What was the output? And which version of AAHK?
What do you mean by output? And its an older version...probably from May 2012. I think there is a new version that came out in November 2012, i just don't know if I've bricked it by using the old kit.

Here is the video I used to root when I was on 2.3.3 Gingerbread. It's painless, but takes some waiting.
What is the error you are getting, exactly? D: and if you are on 2.3.3 try my link. ^.^ If you are on 2.3.5 or another version, try searching more hack kits for rooting that specific rom version.

Ok, step, by step, what did you do? And by output I mean what did AAHK say when it ran (both times). Also, what does it say when you reboot into hboot? (Reboot holding power and volume-down.)
Noob mistake I know, but I couldn't tell you. (Calc and physics has my brain fried...). I think I'm going to try the latest hack kit tonight and come back on here if I need help or get stuck. More than likely I'll be back.

Okay so here's what happened last night. I tried the new aahk (11092012) and it required a downgrade of the rom. Process went thru but however when it got to thr hboot menu I received a message telling me that the image was not found. I have a pic of the output where it tells me the downgrade is complete (if anyone wants to decipher it for me), all the way thru the hboot directions. Could this be a faulty sd card?

And have you done this before?? http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=88
I have but actually got stuck. For the HTCdev there is no option for the Inspire 4G. I tried it under the Desire HD. That told me (I think) the current rom is unavailable and they are working on it. Then I tried "all other models", which also got me stuck...

ok, then you still can unlock the bootloader...you can boot in hboot can't you? Do you mind if I connect to your PC via teamviewer to lend you a hand?
I wouldn't mind at all, however not at the moment. I'm at work until 6...7 or after. Seems a little sketchy though, just skeptical. Don't want something to happen to my rig lol

I tried to redo the htcdev bootloader earlier and now when I get to some of the earliest steps I run into a problem. Everytime I try to fastboot is says "no image found" land searches for a zin file. I know its something like pd098.zip or whatever it is. How do I get around this?

no freaking way. Can someone else confirm?
I think hes talking about the Odin prompt that tells you loading custom OS could cause problems... Bootloader doesnt appear to be unlocked.
It be nice if it is
I'm not doing the ota though till Dan says its OK just in case its not and just in case the new kernel won't let his unlock work

download mode
i think it just puts it in download mode so you could flash thru odin or adb.

They cant patch something when they don't know how it was broken. The whole point of him not releasing the bootloader unlock is that they can't stop us from unlocking if they don't know how we do it

Ya mods should delete or lock before a noob thinks they're phone is now bootloader unlocked when all that happened was the phone was entered into download mode...

Yeah that says Custom OS not unlock the phone and it was there before the update. If you are getting a prompt about unlocking, that's something different.

I just got my device today and rooted with WeakSauce. As expected, firewater failed. I am wonder if I need to have S-OFF in order to flash TWRP and/or some custom ROMs. If I don't need it, I'd rather save the $25 that I'd have to spend on SunShine.

How do you install a recovery with weakauce root only? That would be new to me
Edit. You either need s-off or s-on with unlocked bootloader. An you need s-off on HTC VZW m8 to unlock bootloader ..

Just received a replacement phone from Amazon. It has a Viper Rom wallpaper (default). Is it possible this phone could have been rooted and unlocked before and Verizon didn't catch it? If so can it be re-rooted easily? Root checker app says it's not rooted.

Yeah, just did. S-on locked. It is still 4.4.4 so still hope I guess. If I can keep it from updating before I use Sunshine.

As soon as u login to your google account it would have loaded your wall paper. So unless u did not login and it booted straight to home screen then the phone wasn't wiped before it was sent to you.
