I installed the CM7 port and the GApps, but my Google apps don't show up. I've tried reflashing the ROM and the GApps package over and over and clearing all the caches to no avail. Help?
you have to flash GAPPS separately. refer original post of CM7 thread and you will find the link
That's what I did. I flashed the ROM then I flashed the GApps, but they're still not showing up.
Ok that's weird. Can you pinpoint the exact steps you performed from download to copying to erasing to booting up? Each and every step please.
Sure thing.
I downloaded the ROM and the GApps package from the ROM's thread and stored the files on my desktop. While the downloads were going, I booted my phone into recovery and mounted the USB storage. I then plugged the phone into my computer and copied the files over before ejecting the USB device and unplugging the phone. I then wiped the user data, the cache, and the Dalvik cache and flashed the ROM, then, straight after, the GApps. I wiped the user data again just to be safe then rebooted back into the OS.
After it didn't work the first time, I downloaded the GApps again and copied them to my phone again, this time within the OS instead of the recovery. Rebooted, wiped user data, cache, and Dalvik cache, flashed the GApps, and nothing.
Not being sure if it was the ROM or the GApps package, I flashed the MIUI beta then flashed the GApps (using the same sequence of steps mentioned above) and it still didn't work, so it doesn't seem to be specific to CM7.
Ok try these steps:
1. Download the ROM
2. Download GApps from here: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
3. Wipe the big 3's (user data, cache and dalvik-cache).
4. Flash the ROM.
5. Flash Gapps.
6. Boot without erasing anything.
I followed your instructions exactly but I still have the same problem.
Interestingly, if I go into the list of installed applications in the settings, Market (but no other Google apps) shows up but it's greyed out and I don't have any options to run it or anything.

Crap. Something's really not right. Can you give it a try with the SuperOSR ROM? Need to see if it's specific to the CM build.
EDIT: Can you try searching for the Market .apk file around the forum and install it manually? It should be somewhere in Themes&Apps section. Give that a try before trying with the SuperOSR ROM. Wipe, re-flash ROM, flash Market.apk, reboot.
Reason: the gapps provided by CM team are old (v2 market) and it might be that Google does not support v2 anymore since they've switched to Play Store. (not sure).
I did try with the MIUI ROM and the same thing happened, I don't think it's specific to your ROM build. Perhaps my phone just doesn't like Cyanogen's GApps package? No idea why that would be though.
Anyway, I did as you suggested and installed an APK and it worked! I found this one on Redmond Pie and put in the SD and installed it with the file browser on the phone. Seems to work fine so far

Awesome!
While you're here, a bug I've noticed that's only popped up on your ROM is that, when I turn the phone off, sometimes the orange light stays on and the phone's completely frozen up until I pull the battery. It's only happened twice but I thought it might be something to look into.
Other than that, it's very good! I'm enjoying it, keep up the good work

It's a CWM based problem. Update your CWM recovery to the latest one from the CWM thread in the Dev section and you are good to go.
Way too many CWM's in two sentences..
I'll do that now, cheers
Glad to know you are up and running, but it's still quite strange. Every time I flashed CM7.2 (it it was quite a lot of times GApps were there, Market included. Just running the Market app would actualize it to Play Store automagically.
Of course, as Alex says, it may not be supported by Google anymore, but still you should have gmail, etc from the zip file even without a working Play Store...
The issue was probably related to CWM, if you have an old enough version it could be messing up with the zip internals, but sometimes it's just anything else... (I installed the first CM9 alpha rom w/o problem, the second one wouldn't install, one week later, doing exactly the same with the same zip file, it installed flawlessly)
It may also be related to the specific terminal, I have noticed that depending on the device type (country of release, free or network operator locked, and so on) terminals behave a little bit different in some aspects (e.g. my GPS stopped working after unlocking the bootloader and was only fixed when I reflashed the radio firmware after getting S-OFF; and now, with the CM9 alpha, my keyboard won't get backlight while it's dark outside but adxl's is working fine, which is bad for debugging purposes, of course )
If you could make a backup and install SuperOSR and see if everything works fine the first time (even if you go back to CM afterwards, as I did) it may help to understand the issue better... Or maybe just posting your phone's specific data (model, build, country, etc) may give us a hint.
We know that free UK terminals are somewhat different to Spain free terminals, and those are a bit different from Orange or Yoigo locked terminals... It may be related to hardware batches out fro the factory, who knows?
Enjoy your ChaChaCha!
I think the problem was my CWM in the end. After I upgraded it (that alone included some trial and error, eventually the fastboot method worked) the GApps zips worked fine.
So if anyone else has this problem, check your CWM version and upgrade it if you need to
Can i Upgrade CWM without any change of my current OS ?
i actually couldnt go to Market after i flashed GServices. I downloaded newest Google Play in HTC Chacha apps, installed it and it work until now (of course wit GService flashed before).
Btw, how can i check my current CWM. Thanks!

Hello there!
I've came by to add my issue, similar to yours.
I was on CM7 too and wanted to try the SuperOSR ROM. I used the common steps for flash it (all cache Wiping and factory reseting, ROM installing, Gapps installing), rebooting my phone, connect it with a Google account, launched Gmail and then when I've arrived at a certain level of my mails, the app crash...
For the Google Play app, I've got a server connexion error...
It's like if all the Google's framework was here but totally not stable...
I've tried with an another ROM, the MUI ROM and everything works...
Like I said, I came from the CM7 ROM wich was working...

Hi, I registered in this forum just to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was searching for that appropriate GApps for the CM7 I installed previously with the GApps for Ginger Bread (not the same with this link you posted) and it gave me a headache too. I tried flashing for 3x & the Gapps were not working. Then I tried this link and VOILA! Now my smile is from ear to ear.. so SALAMAT! (Tagalog word for THANK YOU). I'm from Philippines anyway. I bookmarked this page for future reference. A million thanks to XDA Developers and it's helpful members & thanks for welcoming me even I'm a noob..:laugh:

Hey. First, don't do what I did. I though I may have needed to flash the newest version of CWM to my Optimus T. Don't do it. It was soft bricked, and it was a pain to fix. Second; try updating your SU binary, and downloading the latest SuperUser apk from the browser. I personally haven't tried it (still recovering from brick), but it's said that it is a viable solution. If that doesn't work, your best bet is to download any version of Blackmarket Alpha, open it, and let it update itself. It pretty much has all of the same apps as the Play Store, minus the sleek UI and better sorting we both miss from the store.
Footnote: Gapps may have not flashed the applications themselves, but go to System > Accounts and check to see if Google is an option. That tells you it's atleast half way working. If you can, download the Play Store .apk, and repeat the second thing I told you above.
Best of luck,
Rob

The browser doesn't work (it starts and right after it closes, if i push the off button to shutdown the screen and then i reopen it, it does not lock. Anyway, this problem appears only with build 5 version. I hope someone/somebody will fix it, till then i'll stick with build 4. Thank you for your time.

Did you use the smaller version of gapps or the Generic one? One of the problems with 4.x is that it's so big there isn't room for all the Google apps. If you used the 88MB version then try the gapps-jb-light-20120804-signed.zip version (55MB) and see if that one works. I saw several Optimus V folks with the same issue and using a chopped down version worked for them. The problem is that there isn't enough internal storage for both the ROM and the full gapps package.

I installed CM10 on my AT&T HTC One X and can't type anything as the keyboard keeps crashing. I've searched all over the net for a keyboard to install but everything like Swype requires you install it from the phone directly which I can't type on. Does anyone know of a solution to this crashing issue or somewhere that I can get an alternate KB?
Here's the issue, the keyboard keeps crashing and the home button doesn't work either.. the phone just vibrates when I press it. I installed the CM10 nightly build plus the gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip GAPPS. I've been searching all over and search keeps breaking on xda so I can't find much on here right now.

So you can't even interact with the "Select input method" dialogue in the notification pane? Because you should be able to remotely install a new keyboard through Play. Then once it's there, you can switch in the notification pane.
I'm having the same issue. Tried installing CM10 coming from CleanRom. Did a wipe before install.
Not only keyboard for me, home button doesn't work correctly and I cannot launch the browser.
Went back into recovery, flashed CM10 again, preformed not only a factory reset but also did a "system" wipe.
rebooted and things were fine.
rebooted back into recover and installed gapps, things are hosed again.
reproduced on gapps 4.2 and gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip

I can't seem to find Wipe "System" in the Factory Reset. The only options I am given to wipe are the data and cache which I have tried doing and afterwards reinstalling CM10 and GAPPS-jb-20121011-signed.zip yet the "Unfortunately Android's Keyboard (ASOP) has stopped working" still pops up
I know you have tried one of these but ill quote what Inflatedtitan gave to me when i had the same problem.
"Sounds like there could be a few problems so were gonna go with the most popular ones lol..
1. Sounds like you didn't wipe everything in twrp before you flashed. Make your you always wipe cache, dalvick, factory reset, and system. Then flash Rom followed by gapps.. then reboot
2. Have you restored from a titanium backup? If so, make sure next time its ONLY user apps.. if you restore system apps and data, think of your system settings from one Rom clashing with the system files from your new Rom. They won't play nice together. Only backup and restore user apps+data
3. If the above steps were taken correctly, I would delete the Rom.zip from phone. Maybe download using a different browser. Chrome browser is notorious for corrupting roms.. you could have had a bad download
Sent from my HTC One XL using Tapatalk 2"
With these steps I got my ROM working so maybe it could help you.

I would recommend re-flashing the CM10 ROM you installed so you can start with a clean slate. After you have reflashed the stock ROM then uninstall and reinstall the Samsung USB drivers, and see if your computer is then able to transfer files to your Phone. You can also use the Goo Manager App, to browse for, download, and install the correct version of Google Apps. What version of Google Apps did you install and from what source? Here is a link to the correct version of Google Apps for CM10 straight form the Cyanogenmod wiki. Let me know if you still have questions .

Did you do a full wipe when you installed the CM 10.1 ROM? Going from Cyanogenmod 10 to 10.1 you should do a full wipe, making sure to wipe both the data and cache Also the Google Apps I linked to in my previous post were meant for Cyanogenmod 10 not Cyanogenmod 10.1 the correct Google Apps for Cyanogenmod 10.1 can be found here. At this point I would recommend re-flashing the CM 10.1 ROM you downloaded and then flash the Cyanogenmod 10.1 Google Apps. If that doesn't work I would recommend taking a look at this video.

Even after re-flashing CM 10.1 your status bar is gone? I would recommend flashing the stock ROM and then reinstalling CM 10.1 after you have flashed the stock ROM.

I've been running Cyanogenmod 12.1 for a while now, updating to the new nightly versions as they come out. Recently I discovered that Cyanogenmod 13 is now rolling out, but I held off on updating for a bit.
The other night, I decided to give it a go, and it ended up causing my phone to get stuck trying to boot. So, I flash back to the last 12.1 nightly I had been using, installed the latest version of GApps for CM12.1 and went back to using my phone as normal. However, I quickly noticed a problem, but I'm not sure of the root cause...
Nearly all of my apps fail to work properly... They all keep force closing, and I can't update them or anything because every time I try to access the Google Play Store, an error pops saying that Google Play Services has stopped. Now, if you look at the Google Play Services page on the Google Play Store, you'll see a load of negative reviews from people all reporting the same problem. However, it just very suddenly started happening to me, so I'm not sure if I messed something up when I was going back to CM12.1 after CM13 failed to work for me.
Any ideas? I just did a clean install of the latest stable release of CM12.1 and the latest CM12.1 GApps, but it's still not working. I even updated to the newest version of TWRP, thinking that might help. At this point, my phone is useless... My texting app closes. My browser closes. My calendar, contacts, etc. don't work since they're linked to my Google account. Instagram, Facebook and Twitter don't work. NOTHING WORKS!
I'm considering flashing back to stock, but I really don't want to do that. I've finally gotten Nova Launcher configured how I want it (in terms of my home screens), and I don't want to have to redo all that tweaking. Especially if flashing back to stock doesn't fix the damn problem! I just finished making a backup in TWRP and copying it to my computer for safekeeping in the case that I do try to flash back to stock. That way, if it doesn't help, I can go back to where I'm at now at least.
So; any ideas? I don't know if it's Google, or something I did.
The first and easiest thing u could try is reinstalling those apps! Check http://www.apkmirror.com/ for that!

Which apps; the ones that keep crashing? I don't see how that's going to help...
Like I said, I can't do anything that's associated with Google at the moment. Initially I thought removing my Google account would help, as that's what an Internet search suggested would help. Now, since Google Play Services keeps crashing, I can't even add my Google account back onto my phone.

Yes u could at least give it a try! Uninstall the apps that keep crashing and reinstall them via their apks!
I just tried to flash back to stock, and it wouldn't work; the GPT.bin kept failing to flash. So, I had to go back to CM12.1 and I'm right back where I started; with Google Play Services not functioning.
This may sound stupid... but have you tried clearing the caches? /data/dalvik and /cache?
I'd suggest making sure you have mfastboot, extracting the stock 5.1 untouched files here and then running the script here. Make sure those lines are adjusted to reflect where you've extracted the stock files to. Ie. mfastboot flash partition C:/Android-SDK/Platform-tools/gpt.bin
What's the failure that's stopping it from flashing? If you can get past that I'd boot the stock firmware once, flash TWRP, clear /system and /data then flash the latest nightly and GApps then clear your caches before booting.
Here's an update.
After flashing back to CM12.1 I discovered that I was still having the same issue with Google Play Services, but my network also wasn't working. This was my own fault though; I forgot that since I tried restoring my phone to stock, I needed to apply the Network Fix that is floating around for the XT1033. Although, my phone is technically an XT1032; it just doesn't have a functional network unless it's using an XT1033 radio...
So, when I got home from work I applied that Network Fix, which got me my network back. However, my Google Play Services still refuses to work.
I've just tried to give another go at flashing back to stock Lollipop firmware, but it's still not working. Just like before, it keeps failing to flash the GPT.bin file, throwing me an error; see below.
(bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote failure)
I've never had this happen before. This time around, I even went into TWRP before starting the flash and used Advanced Wipe to clear the Dalviik Cache, Data, Cache and System, yet it still won't flash properly. Cyanogenmod flashes just fine, but I want to see if using stock firmware will fix my issues with Google Play and its services.
I have no idea what to do.
Well, my phone is officially KIA. I followed this guide to get it back to stock (none of the other guides would work), and once I went to reboot as part of Step 7, the phone shut off and won't come back on. I've tried plugging it in, holding the volume down and power button for as long as three minutes, holding the volume up and power buttons for just as long... it won't do anything. It's hard-bricked.
