[Q] Can't change / clone / spoof MAC Address since ROM upgrade - General Questions and Answers

Hi, first post
I need to be able to change / spoof / clone my Samsung Note 2 / II GT-N7100's WLAN MAC Address in order to access a wireless router (which I am allowed access to).
In the past I was able to do this using Busybox, but since upgrading my ROM I have not been able to do so. The command seems to work, but when I connect, my router shows my phone trying to connect using the original MAC.
PhoenixROM v13 -- worked -- I could change my MAC and connect with no issues.
PhoenixROM v14 -- no worky (this ROM is based on Android 4.3)
PhoenixROM v15 -- no worky still
Any ideas from someone else who has tried this? Let me know if I can provide more information.
Thanks!
J

[Q] Openvpn issues on LG G2x other than cyanogen

I am having problems with openvpn and I would really appreciate any help that I can get. I was not able to make openvpn work on Eagle Blood rom. Here are the steps I used. I installed binary file at the system/xbin using the openvpn installer from the market. I then created a folder at the root of sdcard and named it openvpn. I placed in the folder the configuration files. I then downloaded and installed openvpn settings from the market and tried to connect to openvpn. It would connect to the server (a small key would appear on the top of the screen and says connected) but data would not be tunneled through the vpn. My real IP address would still show while connected to vpn.
BTW, I flashed cyanogenmod 7 nighties #53 and it worked. I use simple mobile and data does not work with cyanogen since the APN needs to manually configured and with all the APN issues going on with cyanogen at this time, I would prefer to use another rom that would support openvpn.
Thanks in advance and I apologize in advance if I posted this at a wrong place. I am new to XDA forums.

[Q] iptables

All,
I am working on a corporate device, which will only ever be used over a company VPN. To that end - we would like to only allow traffic to the IPSEC IP addresses.
We would normally do this using IP tables, but the isn't core in android, so... the question is:
1) What needs to be cross compiled against the kernel to ensure iptables function
2) I need the solution able to run without root
- Root is OK for provisioning, but I want to remove root after flashing / config.
3) Could droidwall help me here?
The device we are using currently is - Tab2 - GT-P5100.
Can anyone help on the above?

[Q] Network shares with Cifs on S3 mini GT-I8190 will not work

Hi @ all,
sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but as a new user I can not post a reply in a current discussion, where my problem belongs to.
Device: S3 mini (GT-I8190) with Version XXAMG4 and Kernel 3.0.31.1332988.
Device was flashed with openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0
Device is rooted with Super-SU1.3
BusyBox is installed
I try to connect to a windows share over two diffrent apps:
CifsManager v1.5
MountManager
target host is in same WLAN and - yes WLAN is on and operates fine ..
share works on my other windows and on my ubuntu without problems.
I have tried several mount methods and diffrent cifs.ko files to get a connection, but it don't work.
I always get message: No such device
Where can i get the right cifs.ko file for my phone? I've searched lot of sites, but for my kernel there
is nothing. Or do you have any other hint for me, why it would not connect?
Thanks a lot to all!
Chris

[Q] LG GPad V500 - USB Thethering on CM11

Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum, so I'm sorry if I'll do something wrong.
I bought a LG GPad V500 (standard version, not google experience edition) and i noticed that tha stock ROM was not so nice... I successfully installed clockworkmod and CyanogenMod 11. The ROM works fine, it's fast and i didn't find any bug. Just i can't understand how to setup USB thethering (aka reverse thethering).
When i start the server on my Windows 8 PC an app is installed on my tab (USB tunneling app). I accepted the super-user request and then I also installed the fake-wifi hack (included in reverse thethering package).
The problem is that, when I press Connect on my PC, the LOG shows no errors but I can't access Internet from the tab. USB Tnneling app shows "UDP connections: 0" and "TCP connections: 0" and the software on my PC says there isn't any download and upload speed. I reinstalled the apps many times and I replaced adb.exe (I founded this solution on Reverse Thethering official post on XDA, but it didn't work for me).
I googled the problem and I read many times that the kernel should be not able to run a USB thethering. I don't know if it could be true, i used the USB Thethering on CM 11 on my old TF300 (died 3 days ago :crying.
Do you know how to fix this problem? It's quite important for me because I can't use any wifi network at home and at work. Sorry for terrible English and thanks
P.S: is it possible, if needed, to change CM11 Kernel (flashing it using CWM)?

Working MAC spoofer solution for recent Android 6 marshmallow smartphones?

I've been looking for a working MAC spoofer solution (app/mod/patch) for a test phone running Android Marshmallow but I didn't find anything that works.
currently the test device is a LG G3 running fulmics ROM 5.0 (based on Android marshmallow / LG 30F), but it seems the matter is rather android 6.x related.
The Aim is to change/spoof temporarily or permanently the hardware MAC address of the internal network adapter (eth0, but mainly wlan0).
So there are a lot of apps out there in the market which claim to do exactly that. I tried many of them, but nothing works as intended.
To name a few of them:
- Wifi Mac Changer
- ChameleMAC
- Mac Address Ghost
- MacChanger
- MacSpoofer
- many more tested
- Phone ID Changer / Device ID Changer app/module for xposed
even the most promising one:
- Pry-Fi by chainfire
does not work, it just crashes while trying to spoof.
all of them claim to change the mac, but it's not working on this device or general on an android 6.x version.
either they crash or they fail in spoofing.
so I tried to spoof the MAC manually in a Terminal with BusyBox installed and a command like:
busybox ifconfig wlan0 hw ether 00:11:22:33:44:55, checked if it worked with iplink cmd and it did. But when I try to connect to my access point, I can't join the wifi network it always neglects my pw. when I turn wifi on/off, the MAC gets reset to original hardware MAC and I can again connect to my wifi AP.
So even when trying to spoof the MAC manually it doesn't work.
And I don't know if it is a problem with Android 6.x, the device itself or the ROM i used.
Does anybody else have a working mac spoofer solution for an Android 6.x version smartphone or have an idea how to this working?
Did you also try connecting to an open network after the busybox method ? I read somewhere the pw issue was only when connecting to secured networks.
Other than that ... I'm also looking for a reliable solution. No luck so far.
Also , you might want to try / read http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-network-ghost-mac-hostname-spoofer-t3145866
Is explains why the busybox method fails with WPA networks.
thanx for the link. It was interesting.
unfortunately the app doesn't work either. so we still have no working solution or app that does spoof the mac on marshmallow devices.
