I am currently using win8 on my rt and I am pleased with battery life and performance but I am still on the fence in updating it ... I want people to share their experience fon 8.1 since i have been readind that the battery drains heavily while on stand by. If someone could share their experience with new os as well as let me know if there has been any additional updates in finxing the battery drain

Do you use the jailbreak? 8.1 breaks it. An 8.1 jailbreak is on the way but not quite here yet so if you updated to 8.1 you would lose the ability to run 3rd party desktop applications
rt 8.1 upgrade

Stick w/ droid.
i have a windows phone and i'm loving it the same way as android,
its better than iphone and its super sleek and fast,
but android is better than WP in some ways but based on the devices that i have the WP is faster
I can't get over the fact that Windows Phone is based on those fairly large boxes, so I'd stick with Android.
Have to say for using as a stock device WP7 is much sleeker and smoother.
But for lack of applications and mods in WPA7, I would pick my HTC Incredible S over my Nokia Lumia 800 any day of the of the week

If you go for a windows phone get wp8 as wp7 phones can't be upgraded to wp8 and so you won't be able to use certain features and apps on the wp7 models.

Wait for wp8 and then you can decide about to buy one of this.

I wouldn't waste my money on WP7 right now when WP8 is right around the corner (October-December). If you can't wait that long, get an Android device and make sure it's one that won't get screwed over when a major update like Jelly Bean comes around.
Windows Phone is a pretty nice OS to play with though. I have the Lumia 800 and 900 and love them both. However, the lack of customization options is a big turn off for me. Customization is a major reason why I'm beginning to love Android over my iPhone. Windows Phone app numbers are a minor problem for me. Most of the apps I need on a regular basis are available there. Everything else is just for fun and there are alternatives in Windows Phone marketplace. I have over 20 apps on my WP7 devices.
dude... windows sucks.
their pc sucks, their phones suck, everything about windows screams "we only care about money!!!" and they dont even give u good stuff for it.
but if u even need to ask this question, then either u dont own an android, or u do, and u simply have no idea of the incredible peice of technology you have in your hands and the unlimited possibilities that are at ur finger tips...
but hey, thats just my two cents..
Android and Linux to the end!!
No , just no . Android phones are simply better stick with it
I will stick to android itself thank you ppl

Let's be objective...
Hi,
I have to say that I love android for so many reasons such as the freedom it gives you in terms of customization... Nevertheless I had a chance to try a Lumia 710 and I was impressed by the responsiveness of the phone. In my opinion it depends a lot on what kind of user you are...whether you like to mod your phone or simply use it.....
Little green guy all the way. He easily smashes windows for fun and slices and eats apples for dessert. Make the right choice.

Hello all. I am new around here. I reciently bought a Nexus7. As a Techno geek I couldn't resist.
I just finished working in a film where 90% OF THE CREW were using iPhones. Including myself.
There were a couple of crew on android devices. They swore by them.
When the nexus 7 was put up for sale I figured this was an inexpensive way to check out android hardware and software.
In a word I am very impressed.
Jellybean runs fast and smooth.
Battery life is amazing.
The customization options blow me away.
The screen on the nexus 7 is great.
But then most of you know all of this already.
I am here as a convert. I have been using an Ipad since the day they became available.
I like the iEverything. But I have learned that there is a hell of a lot of flexability with android that just is not available on apple products.
Everybody I show my nexus7 to regardless of their brand affiliation is impressed.
I have joined this forum so that I can learn as much as possible about android and related hardware.
I look forward my time here.

What is the reason ? Why android has not such kind of amazing apps like IOS ??
Is anyone has the answer for this question?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Lemme guess, youre a former idevice user? Maybe we don't have these "wonderful" apps (which probably only you care about on android) is because there are multiple phones which are different which apps must work on, compared to the 3 that iPhone devs work on. Its also called the app developers chose only for it to be on iPhones or iPads, or iPods so don't blame us. Please, do not complain. Complain elsewhere. Not here.

Yes you are right i was iphone user since last 3 years but jst beacuse of better features i come to android but you should also accept that battery life and apps of android isn't good as compare to iphone , if u ever use iphone you should definately agree with me.

I had an iPhone before my gs3. I do say the only reason battery life is different is because of the screens and hardware. and the apps are as I said, harder to develop.

No I don't think so. I looked at it last year but got another device and now (thanks to my kids) I'm down to 1 mostly working shift. It sounds like it may be fun to work on though.
So the blaze is now over 2 years old... we've seen a lot of our xda brothers that once contributed and were active users leave the blaze threads, only few remain and things have really slowed down here, these threads just aren't as live and booming as they used to be, well I've been eligible for an upgrade for a while now, so anyone have any suggestions?

well i will say go for nexus devices...peferably nexus 5...always first to get updates and great at hardware part too...u get pure android experience along with lots of options as the sources are always out there and nothing like touchwiz or sense messing up the developement...the developement is most active in those devices and sources are always there taken directly from google repos
Well, I'm moving soon and I need a different phone since I don't have 4g over there. Im looking at the lg g2, since it has one of the best batteries and its not too big. It's LG's flagship and I like the knock on feature!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using xda app-developers app
I'd recommend getting the Nexus 5. As I am a fan of AOSP it's outstanding. Performance is great, haven't had any trouble with any lags (well exaggerating much lol) and it just feels right for me. 2.26 GHz is just amazing. Unlike the Blaze it has 16 GB of memory which is great for having the big applications. 8MP camera could be better, but it's still outstanding.
When I was ready for upgrade it was between nexus 5 and moto x. I chose moto x and have had no issues. CM11 and other ROMs are being developed

OR you can wait for Project Ara to come out early next year! For sure getting it!
Thanks to those who have given me suggestions originally I was thinking something mainstream and well known like a flagship phone like the S5 or something like that but is their price tag really worth it or is there a better not as well known phone? Kinda like how the blaze basically was a smaller S2? I mean I'm looking for a Samsung, LG, or Motorola? Price isn't a problem I just want long lasting battery life, performance, 4G / LTE, A Good Camera and A Reasonable Storage Space? Any new suggestions?

well if price aint a problem then s5 is definitely what ya looking for...awsome battery life.. u can easily get 15 hours video playback..or u can get htc one(m8) which is a tad bit heavier coz of its metal casing...but what i dont like about them phones is that they are laden with so much crap that we dont ever use...and s5 is big on fitness stuff...and yes moto g is for you if ya looking for smaller screen(4.5 inch...bigger than blaze) but still easy to use with one hand...good specs..actually better specs than phones almost about twice the price...good battery life(9-10 hour video playback) and internal storage is optional for 8gb or 16 gb..
I tried the moto g, well I owned one for a short period of time... I got grounded for some bs so I went into target and bought one of those prepaid phones to use as a WiFi phone I absolutely loved it but I returned it when I got ungrounded anyways I decided to wait for the nexus 6 but I'll probably buy a nexus 5 sometime this week to use in the meantime

Xperia z is a nice alternative to the n5, the only problem I find is that it lacks the stock recovery.
Z1 is the later version, might like that.
