[Q] Camera not working on HTC sensation - HTC Sensation

My camera on the sensation doesn't work. Whenever i attempt to open the camera apllication i get a black screen and phone crashes. I am not sure but I believe I am missing the drivers for it as this only happened when i installed a new ROM. I was therfore wondering if someone could point me in the direction of the drivers or an alternative cyanogen ROM. Current version is 10.1-20130806-Albinoman887-pyramid. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi, my sensation has the same problem. So far I could get is to make a system-format in recovery mode. Before it is good to make a backup though. then installed CM 10.2 albinoman887-pyramid with gapps and camera came back for a while. I still struggle with the cam, i cannot make it sable. I think something overwrites a camera file in dalvik cache, because for me sometimes cleaning only dalvik cache helps to get back camera. maybe it is good to start with this, rather than make a system format first.
best luck...
if anyone knows better solution, please share it with us.

Make a nandroid backup, wipe everything except sd card from 4ext recovery, install a Sense based rom, see if camera problem persist, then wipe everything again and install cm10 rom. If anything goes wrong you still have nandroid backup

Hi, maybe you can help me as well. i went back to original rom 2.3.4, but camera didn't come back. originally, i updated to original 4.0.3 rom and I used this rom for a long time, when camera problem started suddenly. now i can install all kind of rom, camera still won't work stable.

i dont know what happened my sensation cant open camera also

Did you update the firmware? What firmware are you on? And how did you get yur phone s-off?

You have to try another ROM, maybe you flashed a old version of the Rom that has a broken camera.
Try first a Sense-based ROM

Is there any camera kernel only that could fix my camera?

and what rom would be a good choice?
(if i install a new rom, does that wipe all the apps i have on currently? because that would suck)
You'll get varying opinions as to what ROM but I prefer CM7. To save your apps, install Titanium Backup(TB) and backup all of them, put your ROM of choice on the sd card, nandroid backup everything for any oops that may occur then wipe/factory reset and flash your rom. Once your booted, reinstall TB and use it to recover your apps from the backup created on the sd card.
I did this coming from my Aria to the Inspire and only a few didn't make the trip.
Tx
EDIT: be sure to sync all your contacts to Google before flashing so you can get them back should you choose CM7. It doesn't read ATT sims.
Some do some don't, depends what the devs decides/ puts in the updater script. I think its better to wipe everything anyway especially if your new to avoid any possible problems. You can always back up with titanium backup, then restore your apps when you install the new Rom, just only back up apps and their data, avoid anything with /system.

if you like the HTC sense feel. Flash Android revolution 3.2 or RC Mix hd. Both are great and stable.
Thanks for the help. You guys are amazing. I regret not pestering you earlier with more problems.
Okay...decided to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964841

and flash you mean boot in recovery mode and install from sd the zip, right?
I wil definitely make nandroid backups.
Do i wipe clean the current rom?

[Q] I think I have done something wrong.

Salutations,
I recently installed a ICS ROM from another site, was meant to be in beta but it crashed and wouldn't reboot unless I removed the battery everytime the screen went off. I thought I would wipe everything and just go back to the stock ROM for a while until all of the ICS builds have matured.
Sadly this wasn't the case, after wiping everything ( I wanted to clean the SD card etc as well ) the phone doesn't boot, remains stuck on HTC logo if it wants to go that far. The LED is flashing orange and I cannot get into HBOOT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The flashing LED light means u got low battery, so I would suggest you charging it.
to get into recovery remove the battery, and then try again. When in recovery wipe cache and dalvik cache and try to reboot.
The screen-off problem I have no idea how to fix, try re-downloading, maybe u got a broken zip. Or just try another ROM.

Thanks for the responses, I think I must have wiped the boot partition and messed up the ruu. Problem solved when I downloaded a new ROM on my Mac and moved it onto the SD card and installed it. Got quite worried that I might have soft bricked the device!

if you have nandroid back your first rom just reflash just wipe /data, /system, /cache on your recovery and restore factory setting before restoring nandroid back up or installing new rom just to make sure there's no residue of the previous rom is left on your phone.
unfortunately i dont have nandroid backup, but i tried to complete restore of ROM, i downloaded original ROM and wipe all caches.. but it didnt help... how can i wipe ALL data? with ROM too? so i wont be able to switch on phone until i flash a new ROM?

More info please. What ics ROM are u using?
If you can read this, I's been a drinkin
I had a similar problem with a used Desire HD -- I eventually found that doing a factory data reset solved the problem.
Seach the thread of the Rom your currently using first to see if anyone else if having that issue. Be sure to FULLY wipe before flashing the Rom. After fully wiping and re flashing, test your WiFi before restoring anything from tibu. If it works start restoring you user apps one by one to see if maybe one of those is giving you the fits. DO NOT restore any system apps.

Also, don't forget to flush the caches when installing the ROM. I know that failure to do this can cause issues with a fresh ROM.

i was a nub and restored wifi passwords/config with tibu and killed my wifi entirely until i wiped. dont make this mistake
superwipe
I recommend you get super wipe from the Android rom revolution HD thread. Boot recovery and run super wipe whenever you install a new rom or during some updates. After super wipe than install your ROM and.then install inspire mod.zip and then reboot. If your wifi then does not work then you should install wifi fix. Most ROMs I've used I don't need the wifi fix actually never needed it. I highly recommend asopx ICS ROM. Latest version 31 has most everything except video can working.

I was using AOSPx all day today and then around 7pm randomly lost signal and it never came back. Had to do factory reset and its working again but now I'm back to reinstalling a ton of apps.
asopx
Mehal88 strange about your wifi problem on asopx. Did you try a.simple reboot instead of factory wipe? I'm assuming you are talking wifi signal and not att? I'n my area radio, ril, and apn settings make a HUGE difference.

[Q] How can I switch to Stock ICS Rom OR to another Custom Rom from CM10.1 ?

How can I switch to Stock ICS Rom OR to another Custom Rom from CM10.1 ?
Cyanogenmod is awesome, but I want to switch back to stock, or possibly on another sense based rom if I like one. How can I do this?
EDIT: Question has been answered, thanks to all who supported me on this thread.
Just flash the ROM you want in recovery like you did when you flashed cm 10.1
Here's stock ICS with improvements: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14191938

What will happen if I try to restore a nandroid which was made in Stock, while I am on another ROM?

Ok, so I have a nandroid backup which I did in Stock firmware. If I go to recovery and do full wipe followed by restoring the backup, I will get stock ROM with all the apps that were installed at the time of making backup, right? Same can be done in to switch to CM rom?

wow it's easier than I thought. and really thanks for your quick replies, thanks button will be pressed after the comment are posted.
I am also running CM 10.1 and because of some hardware issues want to revert to the STOCK ROM (not any custom one similar to it). Problem is, i did not create a nandroid backup of it. How do I go about it now?
PS my phone is HBOOT 1.29
Reboot recovery
Format all partitions except SD card.
Flash ROM.
Reboot
You can also do an RUU. Look here and do step 2.4 to find your executable ruu: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26541170

Thanks for the quick reply, but can you tell me where to get the stock ROM too? Is it available on the HTC website? I have searched other posts but there seems to be no link for HBOOT 1.29
Here's arhd 7.2, a modified and improved version of stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14191938
Hboot version doesn't really matter. It's just the way the phone boots up.
If you want to revert to complete stock, no modifications, no improvements, then I would run the .exe ruu file from your computer. Here's the links for the .exe files: http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Pyramid
Make sure you download the right ruu (XE or 4g) for your phone and the right country/carrier for it.

It has happened both when I'm charging and when it's not plugged into anything. It happens worst, and most often when the phone heats up, which is a big issue with CM. Part of the reason i wanna switch back to Stock ROM is to prevent any permanent damage to the internals with this frequent overheating. The battery stays cool, mind you.
My personal laptop's motherboard got fried yesterday so i'm just gonna wait until my exams end in a couple of weeks, and then get a new one and change the phone's ROM. I promise to update you guys on what happens

I had mentioned charger because i have a China charger and when my phone is charging and i lay it on a flat surface it touches itself everywhere whenever i touch somewhere. this happens to me due to incompatible charger. however i still charge with that charger. well this is my problem, yours is different.
I am not sure but I think there must be prominent links on Google containing stock roms. I have never searched for android but Nokia used to have dedicated softwares and websites for this.
And a free advice: if you want sense then try viper s Rom with sense 4.1 and android ics. (the one with jb doesn't have a working camera). I am using this and sense 4.1 is really good.
it is laggy though.
