Has anyone noticed that Wifi tethering tends to have slow connection while phone is asleep? The speeds pick back up when I turn the phone's screen back on. Anybody?
I'm on T-Mobile btw

Is it just my G1 or does everyones wifi constantly switch from connected to 2g/3g (whatever you have) when the signal strength isn't too strong? Even when your keep it in the same spot. I was in my room and found a spot with connection but if I moved the phone a centimeter (literally) it would go back to the default data usage. If I it alone it only holds the signal for 45 minutes. This is not the issue with the laptop so why with the G1?
it happens to me all the time. i use keepwifi to keep wifi active even when the phones not in use.
Is anyone having issues with WiFi? My charge seems to take forever to connect to my AP and signal strength is very low.
Even in the same room as my AP I couldn't stream to my TV via DLNA without it stopping to buffer ever 10 seconds. It's really disappointing.
I have this problem, coupled with horribly slow 3g data speeds in parts of my house, makes this worthless. I played with the Infuse for a week and although similar speced, it is superior to this phone.
Anyone else seeing this? I am trying to determine if there's just something wrong with my phone or if this is systemic. I'm willing to swap out for another Charge if it'll fix my wifi, but i'm not going to spend the time redoing my settings the other will just have the same issue.
Sounds like it may be a phone issue. I get better wifi signal with my Charge than with my Fascinate, and better signal strength in general.
Not seeing that problem either on my Charge. It connects quickly via my home wifi.
my charge connects instantly to my wifi and has no issues with it
Same no issues here.
But my router is downstairs and upstairs in the furthest corner away from it I get very spotty signal. it fades in and out from 1-2 "bars"
At my office, I suffer from the poor signal strength of the Nexus 5 compared to other smartphones. The signal is always switching between EDGE and HSPA, so often I use wifi when I have to do something more than just sending a couple of messages. However, I had noticed that the wifi connection drops some times, but now, I just figured out why is that happening. Every time the network is switching from EDGE to HSPA or viceversa, the wifi drops.
I guess this shouldn't happen and this is just another failure of the radio, isn't it?
Have you tried turning mobile data off when on WiFi?
and yes there seems to be an error in this area with WiFi and data, seems to be affecting people slightly differently and others but at all....... my WiFi goes dog show when it connects when 2g data is on.. shrugs

just checked it out, it loses the connection as well with mobile data disabled.
Hey guys
SO I have a weird issue.
In my office, with my wifi connected, I get decent 3g, but if I leave the phone on the desk, I see the phone bouncing back n forth from 1x to 3g. doesnt stay locked in.
When on 3g, I get about -102db, which is sufficient for voice and sms. When on 1x, I get about -98db. Not sure what is causing the constant bouncing....but needless to say, it drains the battery.
EVen while on wifi, i see the radio still bounces from 1x to 3g and back. If I were to get a network extender, do you know if the phone will still look for a a 1x or 3g tower?
I tried the network extender somewhere else, but they had decent 3g coverage anyway. SO I dunno if it still looked for it.
Thanks in advance!
I have the same problems but with LTE
My LTE signal is low so it kills the battery standby. Is there a way to force 3g? All the old apps dont work with lollipop.
When I check the WiFi speed on my phone at home it can be low. If I turn the WiFi off on the phone and back on, the speed increases dramatically.
Is this normal or is there an issue with my Samsung A51 phone?
Thanks
Are you sure it's your phone? Have you tried using it on a different WiFi network?
If you have a "mesh" network in your home it's possible that the phone is connecting to an AP that's further away at first, and is unable to maintain high throughput until you toggle WiFi, then it'll reconnect to the nearest one.

Your device will connect to 2.4GHz, which leads to lower speed, when you are 5 or more meters away from your router. After turning off and on your device will compare 2.4GHz and 5GHz and will choose on of them and stay connected to them until you turn off and on your WiFi again or 5GHz lost connection. Long story short; Yes it is normal

I omitted the following from my initial post
At home I use a Three 5g hub which gives me almost 300mbps on the phone.
The drop I mention can be down to 50mbps
Other equipment in the house isn't effected.
I'm typing this and thinking eureka, it's the phone!
Thank you for your help guys
