Pipo U8 RileyROM 1.3 - Android General

special thanks to rrileypm at freaktab.com
Pipo updated their stock firmware for the U8 on 8/22/2013. This new ROM is based on this firmware.
It is:
Rooted
Debloated
English set as default language
Google Play Store fixes added
Init.d support added
Busybox commands added
tun.ko added for VPN support
Thanks to Tattman65 for the boot animation
Thanks to Finless for the flash tool
Thanks to Fun for the generic CWM Recovery
Thanks to Pr0xZen for the First Time User's Guide
You might notice some things are different in the ROM kit.
1. I included the Rockchip Batch Tool as an alternative for resetting you tablet into flash mode. You can also use this tool to flash the stock ROM if you need to, for some reason.
2. I also included a template for you to build your own CWM flashable ROM. There is a readme file in that folder that tells you how it's done. I would not recommend changing to a different ROM using this feature, it is just a way to re-flash this ROM without having to use PC. You can't change parameter settings through CWM.
3. The default recovery.img is stock recovery. As an option, I included the generic version of CWM Recovery...you can flash it instead of the stock recovery by just renaming the files...recovery.img to stockrecovery.img and cwmrecovery.img to recovery.img before flashing.
Enjoy!!!!!!

In case your device is previously rooted and on reboot you can't see SuperSU app in drawer OR if you unable to update binary, simply update from Play store and it should work.

In case you bypass Pattern then you may have pattern on reboot but you can unlock with any pattern and you can reset your new pattern.
9.Prepare device to use TriangleAway Newbies are not knowing about their recovery/kernel so this tool will help to reset stock.
A.Clean device - This will remove all left over of Super user app and SU, also remove Busybox and symlink of busybox. As well this will Replace CWM to Stock recovery. But still clean root access will remain present to use triangle away app. That can be unroot with SuperSU settings.
Again if device doesn't have SuperSU app OR fail to update binary then update it from play store.
Remember after selecting this option your recovery will be stock and if you need CWM, you have to use Odin again
B.Select This If you have stock kernel - If your kernel is custom and you want to make device clean you also have to select this option along with A. to use triangle away.
10.Own Flashing

Thanks a lot Doc for the tool and your entire contribution to the Note II comminity!! We sure will miss u! Just a request here: is it possible to work with another recovery, besides cwm? I'm using TWRP, hence the question. Thanks again!!
From the middle of nowhere to the center of everywhere!!
Yeah you can use CWM/TWRP

Sad news for this section, where is the follow button????
I will supoort this section too but there will be little possibilities to develop without device. But sure still will be here for all newbies for their question on any of my thread.
I would like to try this out but I can't seem to find the link.
I guess host is still down. Will have to check after a few hours then. Thanks dr ketan.
We will miss dr ketan's apps and presence in note 2 forums.
Sorry for delay
Download link updated to OP
Finally good news for nOObs!
All in one toolbox by Dr.Ketan, waiting for few day for testing this tool.
Great Job Dr.Ketan. No need any extra zip files. only one file will do all things.
Will Miss your mods.
Can you please provide link for guide of Aroma installer. I have searched in xda forum but can't get proper result.
I have referred few, i will send you link tomorrow from office pc. But truly still not single guide there to explain everything. I have read a guide in note1 forum few days ago and I found it better than I referred.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I think one more utility we can add to this tool.
Flash own choice recovery kernel and modem. As many user still unable to manage flashable zip or tar from .img
So here you can put img file on sdcard and aroma can flash it.
Also looking forward to flash stock rom with aroma so no more prerooted rom you needs.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Hi dr ketan. I appreciate your hard work but your tool can't seem to save to my external sd card. The log says it is trying to create a directory in /external_sd but mine is /ExtSdCard. I think a rewrite of the code will solve the problem. I could send you the log file but I do not know how to attach it here.
Which ROM you have installed? and which recovery you have used ?
Next version have extra feature
- Flash your selected Recovery/modem/kernel from SDcard
You have to just keep your desired recovery.img/boot.img/modem.bin to Sd card.
No more need to have flashable zip OR tar.

Buckup! Backup! Backup!
Before modifying system it's highly recommended to have full dump of your device. So don't forget to take backup.
It's simple to get custom recovery for rooted users as they can directly backup, modify and flash recovery or boot images on the go with the help of root. But non-rooted users need to do some extra which will be explained later. Follow the below steps:
=>Download and setup AIK (Android Image Kitchen)
=>Grab your stock_recovery.img
For rooted usersInstall Flashify, Rashr, Partitions Backup or like apps (available on play store for free) and backup the stock recovery. If you are using Flashify to backup you have to rename the backed up image with .img extention
For non-rooted usersDownload your stock firmware which will be in .pac extension extract it using this guide and copy the recovery.img
=>Now download custom recovery (for downloads see 2nd post)
=>Port recovery
For PC version of AIK
• Extract the AIK on desktop in a folder (extracting inside other folder(s) is not recommended)
• Place stock_recovery.img (use the name recovery.img only I added stock to refer the image) in earlier extracted folder
• Now double click on 'unpacking.bat'
• Now you'll see two folders 'ramdisk (mostly executables)' and 'split-img (kernel to boot recovery) rename those folders like this 'ramdisk.s' and 'split_img.s' (renaming is used to avoid copying/moving needed files)
• Now delete the earlier pasted stock_recovery.img and paste custom_recovery.img (rename it to recovery.img)
• Unpack it just like stock_recovery
• Delete the split-img and rename the 'split_img.s' to split_img
• Open recovery.fstab from /ramdisk.s/etc (stock recovery's fstab) and /ramdisk/etc (custom recovery's fstab) using Notepad++ or with your favorite note editor. In case of TWRP recovery this file will be named as twrp.fstab if there is recovery. fstab you can ignore it.
• Edit the partition names and mount points in custom recovery with your stock recovery's fstab. But in most cases the mount points will be shown like this 'mmclbk0p17 for system partition' in that case you need to change custom recovery.fstab with the mount points of your device, to find out mount points of partitions install Diskinfo from play store and enable all options in it which will show complete information regarding each and every partition on your device
• At last double click on 'repackimg.bat' now you'll see 'image-new.img' which is ported custom_recovery.img for your device
• The final step is flashing the recovery. It's easy for rooted users simply use Flashify app to flash. For non-Root users you need to flash it over fastboot mode for this look at this thread.
For mobile version of AIK
You can also port the recovery on-the-go using AIK-Mobile unfortunately to use this needs your device must be rooted with BusyBox (Stephen (stericson) is recommended) installed.
It's a flashable zip but you can extract the zip and place the files manually. Follow below steps for setup:
• Extract the AIK-Mobile.zip
• Paste the AIK-Mobile folder under data/local of extracted zip to /data/local
• Paste files under /bin of extracted zip to /data/local/AIK-Mobile/bin
• Make sure all files including folders are having these permissions "-rwrx-xr-x-".
For placing files, changing permissions and executing scripts 'Explorer' by speed software is recommended.
For porting follow above steps (steps in PC version of AIK) the only difference here is .bat files of PC version will be as .sh in mobile version which are to be executed as root for unpacking and repackaging images.
Note:Follow the instructions properly, don't quote entire OP while asking for help. Due to some touch related drivers missing in kernel of recovery in some devices touch recovery won't work in that case please use Non-Touch recovery. In lollipop or later versions don't flash <3.x.x versions which may result in SD card mounting issues and even flashing errors. First test the recovery that you ported by flash a simple mode (I prefer AIK-Mobile since it doesn't modify the system partition hence there is not chance of bootloop. Also see whether wipe options works properly or not in some devices wiping (even cache) takes ~10m in that case goto settings check the option "use rm -rf instead of formatting".
Hit thanks button instead of posting thanks it'll boost me to create more threads like this.

Read again carefully you have to pack custom recoveries ramdisk with stock split_img and reversing the process will mess up the recovery and then you have to flash the stock recovery. So read the guide carefully step-by-step and follow the process exactly unless you know different working method.

Give it a try it may work. But none of the recoveries that are provided here will work for your device, you need to find Android 7.0 and later recoveries which will be compatible with your chipset model.

TWRP has nothing to do with boot.img. If you are not able to boot to recovery try different key combination. Is you messed up recovery too then flash it via fastboot and then flash the stock Rom.

[GT-I9505] Flash Stock-Custom Roms & Useful Links

THIS THERAD WILL NO LONGER BE UPDATED. TAKE A LOOK ON MY UNIFIED GUIDES/COLLECTION
CLEAN & DIRTY FLASH STOCK OR CUSTOM ROM
Note: These guides have mostly specific links for the S4 GT-I9505 Roms TWRP, Modems & Bootloaders but the steps are the same for all other S4 Models - You just need to find specific Roms,TWRP, Modems & Bootloaders for your device model. You can take a look at "Usefull Links" section below.
THIS IS A COMPLETE GUIDE FOR THE BEST CLEAN INSTALL OF A CUSTOM OR STOCK ROM FROM THE SCRATCH:
1*. Download a stock LOLLIPOP Rom from here or here (doesn't really matter which country you will choose, just be sure to download one of the latests firmwares-recommend is QK1 or PK2) and recommend is latest QK1Modem / QK1Bootloader or PK2Modem / PK2Bootloader. For the all others Modems/Bootloaders, you can find them here. Also Download a windows program Odin. Next, move all your personal data such pictures, music etc from your internal storage to your external sd card or to your pc.*
2*. If you are going to flash a Custom Rom, Download the Custom Rom you want (Recommened any JDC Roms of your preference), Pico or Nano Gapps (or Super Gapps if you have a custom gapps-confg file) be sure you have choosed Platform: ARM and the proper android version of the rom you are going to flash) [If the Rom you want to flash include Gapps, no need to download and flash any Gapps at all] and the latest Magisk for root. After you finished with downloads move your Custom Rom,Magisk,Gapps to one folder in ur external sdcard. *
3. Reboot to Download Mode(power button+vol.down+home button) and Flash TWRP 3.3.1-1 or JDC TWRP 3.3.1-0 via Odin. (You put the .tar file in AP)
4*. Reboot to TWRP Recovery (power button+vol.up+home button) go to Advanced-File Manager-external_sd and delete all folders on ur ext sd card (For example you should delete: Android, .android_secure, LOST.DIR, DCIM, etc) except your personal files/folders and the folder with your custom Rom/Magisk/Gapps you want to flash. *
5. Now still on TWRP select Wipe-Format Data and type yes-then go back and press-Advanced Wipe-Select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and then Swipe to Wipe.
6. Now Boot to Download Mode(power button+vol.down+home button) and Flash Stock LOLLIPOP Rom via Odin. (You put the file in AP section)
7*. When Stock Rom is Flashed go to Odin again,
Reboot your device to Download Mode, connect it to PC and put Modem(CP Section) Untick Auto Reboot in options, flash it and reboot your device to system by holding Power Button.
Then Reboot to Download Mode again, put the Bootloader(BL Section) and do the same steps as before.
Check what Modem and BL you have, if Modem and BL didn't changed do the same steps again.
If for some reason Odin fail to flash, try to change USB Port in your PC and don't move the cable during flash. Also if you have Odin and the files on an External hard drive, move Odin and all the files you want to flash to your C: drive.*
8. Now Reboot to Download Mode once again and Flash TWRP 3.3.1-1 or JDC TWRP 3.3.1-0 via Odin. (You put the .tar file in AP)
9. Reboot to TWRP(power button+vol.up+home button) and do the steps 4. and 5. Then flash your Custom Rom--->Magisk--->Pico or Nano Gapps (or Super Gapps if you have a custom gapps-confg file) (If Rom doesn't include).
10. Let the Rom boot and Install Magisk Manager manually if it's not preinstalled. Enjoy!
1*For Stock Rom to have your WiFi working you need to have the same version of Modem/BL as your Firmware. For example if you have PK2 Stock Rom then you need to have PK2 Modem/BL.
On Custom Roms doesn't matter. You can have any of the latest Modem/BL you want but recommend is QK1.
If you want to use KitKat Rom custom or Stock you should flash the proper KitKat Modem/Bootloader. It will not work if you have Lollipop.
2*Skip the step 2. if you are going to flash only Stock Rom.
4*Each app on your phone with the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission may create files or folders in ur sdcard. Most of these folders have once been created by one of these apps and many of them may be deleted with a few exceptions (e.g. Android, .data, .android_secure, these contain important system or app data like a game's downloaded content):
.android_secure: apps installed and then moved to sdcard
Android: app data/cache
data: app data
.estrongs: ES file manager
LOST.DIR: sort of trash folder (collects recovered files after phone crashes)
DCIM: phone gallery's photos and previews
OTA-update: Over The Air update service
ppy_cross: an unknown third-party app's data.
So I recommend to delete them so you can put your phone/sdcard in a clean state and is guaranteed to be able to re-create these folders.
7*If you wanted only to flash stock Rom you done on step 7. If you have any problem with Force Close Apps etc go to Settings->Accounts->Backup and reset->Factory data reset.
***** You can follow the same steps for other variants too but you need to find and choose the proper Firmware-Rom/Modem-Bootloader/TWRP for your variant. *****
THIS IS A COMPLETE GUIDE FOR CLEAN INSTALL OF A CUSTOM ROM BUT NOT FROM THE SCRATCH:
1. Download the custom Rom you want (Recommened any JDC Roms of your preference), Magisk for root solution and Pico or Nano Gapps (or Super Gapps if you have a custom gapps-confg file)[If the Rom you want to flash include Gapps, no need to download and flash any Gapps at all], be sure you have choosed Platform: ARM and the proper android version of the rom you are going to flash. Then move all those files to one folder in ur sdcard.
2*.Reboot to Download Mode(power button+vol.down+home button) and Flash TWRP 3.3.1-1 or JDC TWRP 3.3.0-0 via Odin. (You put the .tar file in AP)*
3.Reboot to TWRP Recovery (power button+vol.up+home button), go to Advanced-File Manager-external_sd and delete all folders on ur ext sd card (For example you should delete: Android, .android_secure, LOST.DIR, DCIM, etc) except your personal files/folders and the folder with your custom Rom/Magisk/Gapps you want to flash.
4. Now still on TWRP select Wipe-Format Data and type yes-then go back and press-Advanced Wipe-Select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and then Swipe to Wipe.
5. Flash your Custom Rom--->Magisk--->Gapps.
6. Let the Rom boot and Install Magisk Manager manually if it's not preinstalled. Enjoy!
2*Skip the step 2 if you already have TWRP Recovery installed.
THIS IS A COMPLETE GUIDE FOR DIRTY INSTALL OVER YOUR CUSTOM ROM:
1. [Optional]Make a full nandroid backup., just in case something goes wrong. You can use TWRP to do that. (TWRP-->Backup-->Select everything)
2. Uninstall all Substratum overlays if you have any installed.
3. Remove previous root solution with Magisk Unistaller and optional UnSU to ensure all root remnants are gone. (TWRP-->Flash the unistaller.)
4. Reboot to TWRP and Wipe system, cache and art / dalvik.
5. Flash the Rom-->Magisk-->Gapps.
6. Reboot and Enjoy!
***** I've skipped some explanations, because if you are going to dirty flash, you already know for example how to boot to TWRP . *****

If for some reason Odin failed to flash, try to change USB Port in your PC and don't move the cable during flash. Also if you have Odin and the files on an External hard drive, move Odin and all the files you want to flash to your C: drive.
Some explanation:
- For Stock Rom to have your WiFi working you need to have the same version of Modem/BL as your Firmware. For example if you have QK1 Stock Rom then you need to have QK1 Modem/BL.
- On Custom Roms doesn't matter. You can have any of the latest Modem/BL you want but recommend is the latest QK1 for GT-I9505 or the latest for your variant.
Great Tutorial, thanks @Retrial!
I wanted to ask if you could add some additional hints, e.g. like you did in response to a question of @InTheY2K here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78100797&postcount=2175
Then I realized, you've already done so. Thanks again!
But I've got some additional questions:
In step 4 you describe how to clean external sd. In step 5 you advise to clean internal storage. But if you wipe internal storage, all personal data (e.g. downloaded files, music etc) is lost. Wouldn't it be sufficient to delete the same folders as on external sd card and leave the personal folders?
In step 6 you flash an actual lollipop rom, in step 7 modem and bootloader. I thought an actual stock rom comes with modem and bootloader, so that a separate flash of modem and bootloader would not be neccessary. Am I wrong?
As this is a guide for clean flash, one could not expect to find information about a dirty flash . But I think, this is the best place to at least leave a hint to a place where this information can be found. I remember @Buff99 has one for his roms. @Buff99, @Retrial - wouldn't it be a good idea to add this information directly or as a link to this description?
Additional question: When reading the post with my beloved i9505 and XDA Labs I can't see the colour difference in the asterisks, they all look the same. Perhaps you can replace them with additional ones (meaning *, **, ***) or list your remarks with the corresponding number from your main list (meaning 1), 2) etc.)

We are doing the best clean install from the scratch so the internal storage must be wiped. You should move all your personal data in your sdcard before you wipe. I will add it as clue to the guide.
In step 6 you flash an actual lollipop rom, in step 7 modem and bootloader. I thought an actual stock rom comes with modem and bootloader, so that a separate flash of modem and bootloader would not be neccessary. Am I wrong?
That's not exactly true. If you have an old modem/bootloader and u flash for example PK2 firmware, you will not have same Modem/BL as ur firmware and then ur WiFi etc will not work. Flashing Stock Rom doesn't change them. You need to separate flash them.

Hmm yeah this guide is for clean flash, but probably I will say something for dirty flash too.

Maybe the xda app has some issues. I've added numbers near asterisks, I guess it can help. Thanks for feedback.

No, FQA1 should be the latest for your variant.
However, all the steps in my guide are the same for all variants. You just need to find the latest Firmware/Modem/Bootloader/TWRP for your variant.

Where can I find the latest FQA1 firmware other than SamMobile? The firmware from that website is only available for premium members.
EDIT: I couldn't find the FQA1 firmware in SamMobile. Where else can I find it?

VIVAX TPC-101-3G Stock ROM, boot, and more

HI!
I pulled some files rom my Vivax tpc-101 3G to try porting a custom ROM. Since that didn't work out I wanted to post the files here for someone that might need a stock rom, kernel, recovery, twrp... or wanted to try porting a ROM.
Files included in this folder:
- stock kernel
- magisk kernel
- stock recovery
- twrp port from a porting tool
- TWRP backup of system
NOTES:
- Touch is not working correctly on TWRP (flipped and inverted touch)
- System backup is rooted with magisk and contains some build.prop tweaks. Changed boot animation.
DOWNLOAD:
- Drive Link
PS:
Could anyone make a flashable zip out of the twrp bakup? I tried but I don't know how to create the updater-script and there is no ROM for this tablet that I could use as a flashable zip base.
