Hi guys -- new to this phone, which i bought unlocked and rooted.
I tried to flash CM 11, and had the zip files on the external sd. When installing the ROM, I get a set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed E: error in .......d2vzwzip (Status 7) Installation aborted error. (Are you only supposed to install from internal SD?)
I now can't get past the Recovery 6.0.1.2 touch interface, and have no backups. I also can't get my phone to connect to PC via USB, even after installing Samsung drivers. Im sure this has been answered elsewhere, but any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
I had a similar issue. I cannot flash cm11 because i got a flash error "E:....". I tried latest TWRP and CWM touch/non touch still didn't work. to fix the bootloop i had to flash with odin. even after that can't flash cm11. I have grown to much dislike the sgs3. TW is so clunky and slow.

Hey guys,
Every time I try to install the "Monster_2.3.2_4.5.153_updater_Rooted.zip" ROM from Droid Life the install aborts with an error message and I have nothing left to do but to remove the battery and reinsert it. When I do that however, I get to the boot loader with an error message and I have to revert to the stock SBF and re-root my phone, re-bootstrap recovery, boot in recovery, and try again - I'm feeling lucky. I have done this about seven or eight times, nine as we speak, and so far with absolutely no success. I would really like to know if I am doing something wrong here, I have installed other ROMs with success such as Fission and Liberty.
The last few lines of error message in the installer were as follows:
...
Unmounting Systen ...
updatinig radio image ...
assert failed: motorola.update_cdma_bp("/tmp/rdl.bin", "/tmp/bp.img")
E:Error in /sdcard/Monster_2.3.2_Rooted.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

The Device being used is a Droid 2 Global with the stock SBF running.
And that is all that I get, this problem has repeated itself many times and I have tried installing the above ROM while having another version and ROM installed both with no success. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have you tried to apply that monster.zip file from the Bootstrap Recovery app & choose the option to choose the zipfile?
Do you have it in the root of the /sdcard directory?
Howdy all, yay another newbie!
Phone is a droid 2, verizon network. I rooted it last night with the super 1click, have SU access, wireless tether and installed rom manager free version.
Flashed cwm recovery to 2.5.08, tried to backup existing rom and had an immediate reboot with no backup made. Tried repeatedly same results, reflashed cwm repeatedly same results. Tried to change the cwm recovery version, and have
2.5.08
2.5.1.4
2.5.1.3
2.5.1.1
listed. But trying to load any but 2.5.08 returns "An error occurred while downloading your recovery.
I tried going into CWM recovery through rom-manager but it immediately reboots back to normal, no recovery screen.
I entered into normal recover and tried to run the 'update.zip' which returns
E:Can't open /cacherecover/command
Install from sdcard
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
I wiped back to factory through the normal recovery screen and started fresh and am getting exactly the same as before with everything above tried again.
I have not tried installing a new rom, don't want to go that deep until I know I can reset if needed.
Any help or other ideas? What I've been able to find by searching hasn't resolved the problem yet.
hi, my xoom wont let me flash a different rom, i even tried to flash a different recovery (rogue) but it keeps saying
e:cant open (file location)
(bad)
installation aborted
i figured it was because i was flashing using cmw version 3.2.0.0 this is why itried to flash the rogue recovery... help please
Edit: I fixed it
Okay so I was trying to flash cm11 on my htc one s s4 version and i think i accidentally deleted everything including my backup. Only thing that seems to be left is CWM recovery.
I've managed to push the rom to my sdcard but whenever i try to flash it i see this:
set_metadatarecursive: some changes failed
E: error in /sdcard/cm11.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
What can i do to fix this?
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Have you updated your recovery? CM11 requires newer version of recovery, CWM 6.0.4.5 or TWRP 2.6.3.0 at minimum.
You can find both recovery images from this post.
Flash new recovery with fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Hi, I've got a little problem, yesterday I tried to flash Omni ROM and I somehow managed to brick my device. Before I was running on android 4.1.2 with root, downgraded from 4.4.2.. Once I downgraded the android, the device couldn't be recognized by PC, so anytime I try to connect my tablet to PC it just gives me "USB not recognized" message. So, flashing ROMs via ODIN is impossible. (Tried to install/uninstall Kies & drivers many times, aswell as changing ports)
Also, because I'm a genius I have stock recovery on my tablet (Android system recovery <3e>). Which is another problem because whenever I try to flash any .zip file from external SD it gives me following message: "E:failed to verify whole-file signature" (2×) and "E: signature verification failed". I tried to flash stock ROM, which didn't worked, and a few custom ROMs such as Cyanogen mod. None of these worked and I ended up with the same error message.
On top of that, it seems that previous ROM is gone, because Recovery mode won't load /system & /data folders. Is there even a way how to save my Note? If there is, I'll be more than happy, and very thankful if somebody helps me.
#Edit 1
I can still transfer files from PC to SD card that's in the device. However, this doesn't seem to be very helpful since I can't disable that file verification.
